Ulrich: The layout is looking good. I like that that track plan although like Ken I'm a roundy-rounder type.

Jeff, Ken - I am a roundy-rounder as well, but I just don´t have the space for it. If I were to go into Z scale - well, that would work, but my eyesight is not the best, my hands are a little shaky and, foremost, that Z scale stuff is so darn expensive I could afford only something that would not satisfy my wants in a layout. Going into bigger scale was the answer for me, instead.

Ray - how true! The size of a layout is totally irrelevant - it´s the fun dreaming it (which I have done a lot in recent years, planning it (done that quite a few times as well), building it, owning it and operating it.

Latest pics of the now completely filled right part of the layout:

When I was just finished with this job, I thought it would be nice to have a little island, so I messed the place up again Bang Head

Tomorrow´s plastering job will put an end to the really messy w*rk on the layout!

No call yet from the contract/installer for the stove. The second half of a business day has now gone by. If I don't hear from them by tonight, I will call tomorrow and register a complaint and HIGHLY suggest they inform their salesmen at Lowe's to inform their potential customers that it can take 6 businees days to get a call to even schedule installation!

Even IF they can't get to it right away, A call on the first day so the customer knows what is going on doesn't seem to untoward to me?. I am left wondering WHO it is, WHERE they are, and WHEN they will get a hold of me!

I might have bought from HD if they offered faster service!

Ah well,

I shredded 7 paper grocery bags of documnets that were no longer needed!

That and 2 bags of catalogs, odds and ends and *GASP* 2 1/2 years of MR magazine, Trains Mag, and a few odd ones like Garden RWs *GASP*. They went out to recycle too!

Then I went to the "stash all" cupboard in the kitchen and cleaned out some of the reusable plastic containers that filled it to a pt. where when you open the door stuff falls out all over the floor. SO MOH has been nagging me to do it. So today I did it!

Watch out! I am in that "recycle and throw away" mood again! If you are in my way and sit still too long, you might find yourself in the recycle bin or garbage can!

There is a whole curbside load of stuff, as MOH also gave the porch a quick cleaning too! Most of it is all recyclable! that is good for the environment! There are boxes, bags of paper, plastic/glass containers, cans of all sorts all kinds of plastic containers, etc out there. We have 2 large recycle bins but they are ful...so I used other cardboard boxes to fill with recycles. WE do recycle about 70% of our garbage here.

well, I stood on my feet too much SUnday and yesterday. After all that cooking i did yesterday, last night MOH says" I don't feel like moving the stove now"...GGGGRRR!!!! Maybe later this afternoon I will try by myself, I can take the door off, and remove the drawer of pans to lighten the load.

SO, I have been busy busy busy! I haven't gotten to my shower yet, either, tried to get the recycle done BEFORE they come-which is about NOW.

So now I go shower and throw the towels/bathmat in the washer.

Need to eat something too..don't know what though?

well, have a great day and don' get into anymore trouble than I would!

Sir Madog
Jeff, Ken - I am a roundy-rounder as well, but I just don´t have the space for it. If I were to go into Z scale - well, that would work, but my eyesight is not the best, my hands are a little shaky and, foremost, that Z scale stuff is so darn expensive I could afford only something that would not satisfy my wants in a layout. Going into bigger scale was the answer for me, instead.

Due to lack of feeling in my hands and less than good eyesight I had originally wnated to go with O Scale when I was starting to plan a layout here. However the amount of space I have wouldn't allow for a reasonable looking layout in that scale so going to a small scale was the answer. N Scale was out of the question due to the aforementioned physical limitations. HO was an acceptable medium. It's big enough that I can handle it but not so small that I have trouble seeing it.

...So I didn't have to wait very long to see the vampire.  She seemed very nice but couldn't find any working viens in either arm....  Done used up 6 needles before she decided to use a vein on the back of my hand.  She asked if I had ever had blood drawn from there before?  I said, "no but I have had an IV installed there a few times".  She said it was the same...  She did finally manage to get the job done and I left with several bandages on my arms and hand...  Stopped in at the Pharmacy there to get a refill of Blackies medicine, then headed out to Water St. Cafe to be very bad for breakfast!  I figured I deserved to eat some stuff that is not normally on my diet after that!!!  Yep, had the #2 Special, over easy eggs, bacon, homefries and a double order of sourdough toast washed down by several cups of coffee!

Ray, With all my illnesses and hospitalizations, I have had enough IVs and blood draws that have scarred my veins badly.

I warn all vampires that "you won't get it out of my elbow. Try the back of hand with a butterfly needle". WHY oh WHY do they NEVER listen to the patient???? They Insists "oh, I have been doing this umpteen times a day for umpteen years, I can get it" I tell them "IF you don't succeed by the second try, then I will refuse you any more because I already told you you won't get it in the elbow"{you have the right by law after 3 failed tries to refuse and request a new vampire}. GUESS what happens??? THEY NEVER GET it in the ELBOW! EIther one! They Have to either find another vein somewhere in the arm, Or *TA DA* go to the back of myhand with a butterfly needle!

The last time I was in hte hospital for a stay, they failed 5 times in the ER between the nurse AND the DR {who thought she "knew what she was doing"} adn were really doing nothing but stabbing me in the muscles! I complianed LOUDLY several tiems, and MOH stepped in and Oredered them to stop, well tehy were going to call secutrity on MOH! SO MOH stepped ou t of the ER before they did. I grabbed the DRs hand and Said LOUDLY... "I am the patient! I am telling you the nurse has used her three tries and you have used two. I am telling you NO MORE, hwich I have the right by law!" The Dr. said "well, there is that.". They came back with a guy who said he "guareantee to get it". Well, I siad "ONE TRY, that is it" He got it in, guess where? The bloody ELBOW.

I the first 5 days I was there, I had been stuck 14 times over the IV. 6 in the ER, and the reast while on the floor. Naturally it blew out of the elbow {bad place any way, you bend your elbow and it kinks the line OR pops it out}. I otld them the last time the line blew out  "to get someone who can get it in and MAKE IT STICK, because I am NOT going to continue to be your PIN CUSHION!" They got a nurse for ICU to come. She said she could "gaurantee success". I pointed out MOST of her patients are not coherent enough to know what is going on when they stick them, but I was very much awake and aware. While she did it, i asked what made her a "specialist"? She said her patients were the sickest in the hospital, and when you are sick your veins tend to shrink and be smaller and narrower, so hard to find/get into.{I did not know that}. SHe found it in the middle of the right forearm easy enough.

They then decided to keep saline drip going on very slow because when they stopped regular fluids and capped of the IV for the day until the next caustic IV antibiotic went in because the veins were shutting down and closing off the IV so they would blow out again and fail. Keeping fluids running would solve that problem!

I always tell them NOT in the ELBOW! DO they listen? NO!

Grr.

I heard a truck..it was either garbage or recycle! Best go see and bring in whatever containers!

Just had a call from Lowes. Should have heard from the installer by now!

SO he siad he'd email and fax the order to the installer again, and I should "hear from him immediately". Why oh why do I have a feeling I won't? Only 1.25 hours left in "buisiness day"..I could still hear, i guess...

Lets hope this is not a fanagled mishap mixup!

Harumph!
I have better things to do than be tied to a phone waiting for a call that so far is not forthcoming!

dinner will be the balance of the liver, with onions, red peppers and some bacon...delicious!

French Roast coffee in an Undecorated mug, please.

Wish I could have gone with O-scale, but really would almost need a barn to do a lot with it. HO is the smallest I care to work with now, like others here, because of eye sight issues. I still keep some N-scale and would like to have a small coffee table sized layout (perhaps under glass) one day for the library. Just wouldn't seem right to part with all of the n-scale when that is what got me started in model trains as a young lad.

Healing thoughts to those in need.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

 Good Evening Dinners and Ulrich.

Flo, Beer for my self and a Diet Dog Treat for Rocket Dog.

Well, it is still ranning so Sparkie does not get a walk around the block. I am still worried about him getting fat, so I want to walk him around the block 3 times a week. Do us both some good now that my toe is healed.

Pretty boring day, today. Laied on the couch for a few hours and watched the History cannel. Did a little running and that was pretty much my day. Sat in the garage a few hours and stared at U Tube. I am a big fan of Jay Leno's Garage. He is a real car guy with crazy money and has some great cars! Plus, he does not sound like a rich guy talking down to you. Here is a video if you care to watch. It is about is 1918 Cadillac that is all orginal, never redone.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XnfX9tTc8c

Ulrich, I know what you mean about wifes and spaces. When I bought this house I told her that she could do anything she wanted excpet the Garage and Family room, rest was her's. I now have a Pink Living Room, Pink Dinning Room and Pink Bedroom?

Now with her having all that, I still got a look of dismay when I built the 8.5 X 5 foot K-10 section of the layout in the garage! Whistling I have no clue why, she never parked in the garage because, well I don't know?

By the way Ulrich, wht have you know gone DCC? I was a hold out for years. Is it mainly the cost, or you just don't want to mess with it?

Galaxy, let us know what happens with the stove. Mine died I am guessing 5 years ago. Bunners still work and Sue seldoms cook's much less bakes anything. Sharon and I bought her a god sizes toaster oven for Christamss in 2012 and she is happy with that.

Running the PCM Y-6b at speed step 3, just crawing around the layout dragging 46 coal cars. Boy it sounds good!

Had a little bit of a mystery a little while ago. I picked up the keyboard of my HP computer to type in a reply on another forum an lo and behold nothing happened. I've always had the keyboard plugged into one of the two front USB ports alnog with an 8gb flash drive. Well neither device worked so it was preyyu obvious the front USB ports are dead. So I plugged the keyboard into one of the USB ports on the back and it's working again. Everything else on the front still works.

Nothing else to report so I'll be calling it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Morning!

I am a little gruffy this morning. I did not sleep much and the little sleep I got was not relaxing at all. I will have to talk to my doc about my sleep issue, next time I see him.

As soon as Petra is back from the Wednesday grocery run, I´ll have to get some plaster and CA. The CA I will use to glue down the rails on the dock, prior to spiking them down. I will need that extra bond, because the planks on the dock are only 3 mm thick - not enough for a distance hold. I´ll use the 3-point track gauges I got for a little more than nothing to ensure the track will be in gauge.

cudaken
By the way Ulrich, wht have you not gone DCC?

Ken - it´s purely a matter of cost. My options were either to buy a second loco or a DCC set. Now with only one loco you don´t really need DCC, so my choice was option # 2. Both of my locos are DCC equipped and it would be nice to have one of those Bachmann Dynamis infrared sets, but this is simply not in the budget. I still have the Kato power pack I used for the N scale layout - that will have to do the job. I still have no idea where to locate it, though. In any case, there will be a lot of walking around, when I operate the layout. Walkaround control gets a different meaning Whistling

Later in this year, Kato will bring out an analog sound system called Soundbox, which hitches up to the power pack. It has a built-in speaker and let´s you attach two more, somewhere underneath the layout. If the cost of this system is not prohibitive, I might go down that route.

Blessings to all!

Good morning.  It's currently drizzling here, but we are supposed to get thunderstorms tonight.  Off today, so I have no idea what I am going to do today-maybe cut the grass if it ever stops being wet outside before the temps go up to 90 again.

Good morning.  Penny comes home tonight, at the inconvenient hour of 6 PM.  The hour isn't so bad, but getting to the airport in Boston could be awkward.  I decided just to stay at work until it's time to go to the airport, because otherwise I'd just drive home and turn around and drive back.

Still trying to get the grass to grow.  Today is day 7 since seeding.  I've kept it moist pretty well between rain and sprinklers, so I'm cautiously optimistic.  Last night was hockey, so I'm pretty tired and I'll be ready to go to bed by the time we get home.

Good Afternoon Folks!

I feel strange, somewhat dizzy. I am not sure I will get around adding the plaster to the scenery on the right side of the layout. I did manage to get the tracks on to the dock. It was a tricky job getting the glue underneath the rail while holding the track in gauge with the track gauges. I painted the rail once it was securely fastened.

Just a few shots from today´s w*rk:

 Good Morning Dinners and Ulrich!

Flo, Diet Dew pleases, and a BLT pleases.

Well it is back to work today. Sigh Funny, when I did not have a job I missed going to work. Now that I have a job, well I rather stay home? Whistling

Only bill I have left this month is the Cable/ Phone / Internet and it is the highest at $155.00. That will be covred by this check. Next will be paying for Sues Tooth being pulled, $125.00 and Sparkie shoots with dog tags $75.00. Rest goes into savings.

Ulrich, what do you know about the decoders in your Bachmann engines? Only Bachmann decoder I have is in HO and low speed is not good.

Got to run, see you all after work.

Ken - just the factory installed, plain vanilla Bachmann decoders.

Pulled myself together and did plaster a little over a foot right now, I have to wait for about 1 1/2 hrs. to pull the tin foil off and see the results of my w*rk. Maybe I´ll watch a movie in the meantime.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Thanks

Showers likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 57.

Yard needs mowed, but it’s not dry enough yet.

Garry- Glad your Mother is doing well.

Ray- Though I didn’t know what fee you spoke of at the time, I do know about the one you were. Tongue Tied Hmm If that makes sense.  And you’re right, we have the same thing even if you buy from another electric provider as does probably everyone. You’re probably lucky they don’t charge you twice, what with sending electricity back to them that isLaugh.

Galaxy- I’m saying 48 hours of business… No reason other than my luck as experienceSigh. Problem with places like Lowe’s and Menard’s is they deal with independent contractors. Now that in itself is not bad, except when they make claims without any knowledge of the contractors current workload. They don't consider the guys may be booked for a week... or more. The places that have their own service people can at least look up and see when the next available appointment is, big box stores can not. I’m with you though, being upfront and honest about it, good or bad, is best. You may not buy the stove, but at least you aren't sitting at home seething saying you'll never buy from them again. You'd think they'd rather risk losing one current sale as opposed to all future sales.

Ken- Yup, time for a new grill. Sounds like my one I just replaced. It was a stainless steel one and it looked great on the outside. The inside however, that was differentBlack Eye. Six cast iron burners and some steel brackets here and there. That is what was rusted through. Plus dealing with the scale rust on the burners well…AND the valves were kinda iffy. More than half only had high and low. No in between Hated to get rid of it too, like I said, it looked too good to junk!Laugh

Gotta go to the store and do some laundry today, we'll see what else when it happens.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, coffee to go!  I have a meeting downtown in about 20 minutes with the old pack and crew I am commissioner for to rearrange $$$ and close one of the bank accounts.

If you have seen the news here in upstate NY, Yates County (right to the South of where I live) and the Village of Penn Yan are under a state of emergency due to some horrendous thunderstorms storms that came through here over night.  I am fine about 10 miles North of where the main blast hit.  Roads are washed out, bridges damaged, trees down and power out to a lot of homes and businesses.  Penn Yan High School is being used as an Emergency Shelter...  Penn Yan Schools are closed for the day (no ****).

I have more later!

Good morning. It's 54° with 100% humidity. The high will be 68°, very cloudy with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Waiting on the call from the Home Health nurse. Otherwise no plans. The front USB ports on the HP are working again. It seems that somehow the driver for the host controller of those ports got dropped. Windows couldn't detect that the driver was missing. So I uninstalled that particular host controller. On the next full restart Windows reinstalled the host controller and the driver. It was probably Windows that dropped the driver in the first place. Who remembers Windows 95 Version A and it's infamous habit of dropping drivers? Install a sound board and suddenly you have no mouse control?

I'm Baaaaaccckkkk!

Meeting was only a preliminary...  The couple from the old pack and the crew have to go get the signature of the old Treasurer at the rehab hospital where he is a patient and then we will go back down to the banck and take care of the rest of the paperwork this afternoon.

According to the Weather Channel we got .15 inches of rain last night.  According to the wheelbarrow in my back lawn, we got between 1.5 and 2" of rain as it has about 3 inches of water in it.  according to all the local news we got that much and will be getting much more in the next few days with flash flooding warning and wtches for most of central and western, NY.  My basement is very wet today and the siphon has once again been started......  The Rochester News are also showing that Shortsville NY got nailed last night as well as Penn Yan.  Most of the severe damage was on a short street next to what used to be the LV Yard in Shortsville.  I have a very close friend from Scouts who lives on the street.  They are are saying lots of home and property damage but no known injures reported.  A barn, among other things blew down in the area.  You can see a bit of it here.  Some photos and a story about what happened in Penn yan as well

I want to get the lawn rolled this afternoon if I can.  Have to finish sorting the photos I have of the MLK Service last January.  Then get the laptop up and running to start making the Slide show for the Scholarship Dinner next week...  Getting verty tight on tme!

Later!

Ray: sorry to hear that, but in the middle of the night when i got up, the TWC weather radar channel showed some nasty  Lightning going on up that way, so I am not surprised!

Herr Ulrich: and anyone else who is interested! Here is a video of the small Widbey house that you like so much, and that I'd like to modify to make a bit more room. It is the video to go with the pictures we have previously seen, the video does it more justice:

http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/blogs/tumbleweed/14061973-step-inside-a-tumbleweed-cottage?utm_source=Tumbleweed+Houses&utm_campaign=7f2ef5eadf-May_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_7539d648c2-7f2ef5eadf-17440089&goal=0_7539d648c2-7f2ef5eadf-17440089&mc_cid=7f2ef5eadf&mc_eid=01908c3500

I done spent $350 already today! the grocery bill was a bit higher than I usually spend. I also went to wally world and found a new vacuum I might acutally be able to use. It weighs only 9.6 pounds so is lightweight compared to the 24 lb other vacuum. I should have an easier time pushing it around for my back. It also is 'no reduced suction" and washable filters. The neatest feature {I hope} is the power upholstery/stair brush. It has adjustable height for bare florsand carpets, the old one doesn't and the belts burn out quickly on the old one. I shall see soon.

MOH must have "heard" me looking at the vacuum because I came home and MOH had half way vacuumed the house..I hadn't gotten to it yet, but with that old heavy machine, I avoid it at all possible costs too!

i shall find out soonGeeked enough!

Weather may be turning nasty in my neighborhood-just hope I don't get blown away to Oz with the Pittsburgh area probably going to be under a tornado watch.  Otherwise, I am working on weathering a tichy trains flatcar deck, and a boxcar, will share some photos later.

The weathering powders that Micromark sells really works wonders huh? Yeah, not under the Tornado watch yet, but it is so darn muggy here and the skies are getting ugly as well.

 Did I overdo this one?

well,

1} on the new vacuum: it works great! It practically moves along itself! It has adjustable floor heights so that make it work better, and even though MOH had just vacuumed the LR, I did it again with the new vacuum and guess what? it pulled another 3" {in the dirt cup about 6-7 inches across} in of dirt out of the rug! MOH was surprised! It was only $69 too, so that is a decent price. It also seemed to not lose suction {the old one lies about that}

2} still no call from the Lowes installer! I am out tomorrow afternoon with 2 mental health appts, one with the psychiatrist and one wiht the therapist. MOH will be at work. want to GUESS when he/she will call????? I am nto getting happy by the day here. I owuld have sought out HD's timeline for installing things, OR bought the electric stove which would have been delivered yesterday!

3}Naturally MOH is blaming the delivery problem on me. ANd my choice of gas over electric. MOH said "I walked away and let you choose. You were hemming and hawing over which one, I said I wanted the gas, though, but YOU made the final choice!" SO now it is MY fault. BUT I keep reminding my dear OH,  If I had chosen electric, I NEVER would have heard the end of it!

4} WHen MOH went to mow the lawn Sunday, came in with a large piece of roof sealer and asked if it was ours. I siad if it was in our yard, probably. It was aobut a 1/4" thick. MOH had insisted {and was the onlyone who could fit in FIL's skinny waders in he waist-deep snow so as to avoid getting stuck or wet} on going out with the roof rake to rake off some of the excess snow. I hollered out to MOH NOT to Bang the roof with it! GO gentel! Well, NOW guess what? the seal coating is coming off! Doe sMOH ever listen to me??? i MAY have to take over the arduous chore of mowing as MOH won't have much time for it. It takes me so long as my asthma gives me fits and walking/pushing the mower is not good on my back. BUt I may have to struggle and just take a lot of breaks.

5} train nut friend stopped by. His interest in MRR ing has faded, much like mine, though. They have their own financial mess as he is disabled and the wife works 2 jobs too, like our household. Only difference is I pay hte bills on time everytime, and they never do. Then they wonder why they are paying 25% interest on their car loan for one car and 18% on the other. They/he can't really afford MRRing on ANY level, Except to have the one el cheapo trainset he has and to build with cereal boxes nad dirt from the back yard or driveway. He can't even afford the layout base! he sets up/tears down on the Dining room table, until the wife throws a hissy fit.

Jimmy Braum: you have a good start on the weathering of the PRR box car. There really is no "right or wrong" with weathering. Two identical cars of the same type in service for the same amount of time in the same conditions will weather differently! what I can suggest is that you need more "rust flows" down the sides and maybe more "Dirt" along the bottom of the sides. I f you do a search for "Robby P." or "Robby Putnam"  on the forum here, you should uncover some of his weathering examples. He could remarkably take a pic of a 1:1 rr car and take a model just like it and weather it and make it so you almost could NOT tell which pic was which!

ULRICH:Sweet dreams of the little house of your dreams!

Dinner dinner will be parmasan breaded boneless pork chops fried in olivio oil, green beans and flavored rice.

Chocolate Buttercream frosted cake for dessert...I can do without it, but the price was so great I could not pass it up and MOH will thoroughly enjoy it {favorite}.

 Good Evening Dinners and Ulrich

Flo, you know what I want! Beer

Mix day at work. Had a Be Back of Davies in today, normally that is a good sign! Yes Spent 2.5 hours with her, and she did not buy anything! Bang Head Well, I think she will be back but not holding my breath. Last customer of the day came in at 4:18 PM, she said she was looking for a twin for a guest room. That normally means I waant some dirt cheap! Thumbs Down Talk to her for a while and she asked me if we sold Temper Pedic and told he we uses to but we dropped them. Told her while I worked at Mattress Giant we offred them and I hated them, which I did and why! I showed her one of ours and I will be darned, she bought one in a queen! Big Smile What I thought was going to be a us less effort paid off with a $140.00 commission!

Todd Yep it does sound like your grill is in better shape than mine! Burned the meat some due the burnner not burning evenaly (spell check) due to rust holes in it. It will cost me around $50.00 to fix again. Saw a sweet Stainless Steel Char Broil at Sears for $350.00, but being poor more than likely it will stay a dream.

Ulrich will try my darnest to get to K-10 Thursday after work and pick up your spikes. Mailing them, that depends on when I am off next week. So, if you had the money you would like to try DCC? Whistling I still have the old Bachmann E Z Command. Smile It is as bare bones as it gets, but it works.

 Got to run, Ken

Todd, this picture is sort of amid at you, notices anything formulair? Big Smile

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right now...

I managed to get a lot of things done today that absolutely had to get done today.  Spent much of the day helping get the funds straightened around for the Venture Crew I am Commissioner for.  The same people were running a pack that went poof!  Not going to blame the leadership, but the lack of more depth of leadership did have a negative effect.  I am in the process of trying to help a new bunch of Scouters get the defunct pack back up and running...  Time will tell.  Anyway I came home with three checks for various groups from the dispersal of funds from the old Pack.  I also got my lawn rolled.  Had enough rain last night to soften up the ground quite a bit (at least 2 inches).  And finished picking the photos for the slide show for the Scholarship Dinner.  I also tried out a Data CD with a movie on it (about bullying and respect) produced by kids from the local Boys and Girls Club on the old laptop.  I have had the CD for several weeks and have run the movie without problems on my iMac.  Of course the movie is in WMV format.  I have a little reader program on the iMac that can read the Windoz files without any problem.  I don't have that little app on my old, old laptop...  Can't put it on my laptop either as the laptop is OS 10.4 and the reader (Flip4Mac) needs OS 10.7 or higher.  Sigh  So....  need to figure out what the best solution is before next Wednesday!!!  I am hoping the guy at the Boys and Girls club can just save it as an mp4 file.  That I know I can run on the old laptop.

Guess Penn Yan is a real mess!  The Finger Lakes Times ran a front page article http://www.fltimes.com/ showing several photos of the damage.  They say Yates county got between 5 and 9 inches of rain last night!  My son talked to a friend who lives in Penn Yan and he was told that on one street all the driveways are just slabs of concrete and blacktop with nothing underneath them now.  He doesn't know whether he will be working tomorrow or not as they are without electric throughout most of the village.  (He works in Penn Yan.)  I got an email from the property committee chairman form Boy Scout Camp.  Camp didn't fair well as the same line of storms came across Seneca Lake and hit camp.  He wrote, "Just to let you know Camp did not emerge unscathed by the recent flooding that has been reported in the news that affected Penn Yan. The Boathouse has suffered minor flood damage (mostly washed out stone), the boathouse lean-to (on the other side of the creek) is gone. The bridge at rifle was over topped and suffered some damage along with the main road from rifle to the small pond. Additionally many smaller culverts were blown out around camp along with additional road damage throughout camp. Good news is that Pooler's pond is now full as it is higher than the metal dock the OA put in two years ago (it is adjustable so that will be an easy fix). Conrad and Patricia are ok."  People mentioned are the Camp Ranger and his wife.  Looks like there will be a few more work days out there before opening for the season...

I called a good Scouting Friend of mine who lives in another town nailed by the line of storms.  His street was mentioned as sustaining the worst damage in that town.  It is a short street so I was worried about him.  He and his wife (and there house) are fine, but a few houses down from him a huge tree came down doing some damage to property.

My son came over and we loaded the roller and the tractor into my trailer so he can get it home.  I need to run the old rottotiller one last time to loosen the soil by the fence hoping my sister will seperate a bunch of hostas and give me a bunch.  Then I am giving the rottotiller to my son with the understanding I can borrow it if needed.  They are planning on putting in a garden this year.

I guess I have run on long enough.  Stay safe out there!

Nothing much happened today. Got the wound vac dressing changed this morning, did some minor work on two locos. used a can of Flex-Seal to spray a seal over the seams around the outside of the window in the west wall of my bedroom, did a little work on one of my //e's. I also did some looking around online. I found a used but good DVD set of season one of Star Trek: Voyager for $14 (costs about $70 new) so I grabbed it. Good a time as any to start my 'Star Trek: Voyager' collection. Six more seasons to go. I already have all three seasons of the original series, the animated series, all four seasons of Enterprise, all the movies including those of the new alternate reality of Star Trek ('Star Trek' and 'Into Darkness'). When I have all seven seasons of Star Trek Voyager I guess I start on the seven seasons of Deep Space Nine. The Next Generation will likely be last as it's my least favorite of the Star Trek spinoffs.

Well I have an appointment with the heart doctor in the morning. Just a followup from my leg amputation surgery last year.

Time to call it  a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Ray: I've seen the pics of Penn Yan, NOT good!

We may be in for it on Friday...we are expecing up to 5" of rain ourselves...what is now dumping on the SE states, including the FL panhandle again..just recently devastated!

They are now announcing flash flood watches for Friday for us down here...Naturally that could change to warnings!

IF, I say IF, you don't hear from me for awhile, you can assume it is because we DON't have power as once again our electric substation is under water! You'd think after 3 major times within 6 years {'05;'06;'11} , they would DO something about it...but NO, that would cost to much money!

Not looking forward to it!
