V8Vega:

I FULLY believe in the INsurances !!!

the Park requires us all to carry home insurance. I once lived in a rented house. The old electrical system caught fire in my room-mates room durning the night-he was fortunately staying at his GFs house that night. I had to climb out a window in my BR {thank goodness because I had a room-mate my BR door was CLOSED}. I had on only a pair of undies and socks...my winter coat was luckily on the chair under the window I crawled out of which had my wallet in it {that would later save me a LOT of trouble}. There was NO neighbor to answer their door as I banged on it{rural}...I was having much trouble breathing {asthmatic  AND smoke inhalation}, but since my keys were in my pocket I drove to the nearst convenience store that had a pay phone out front. This was pre-911 or early 911days..I had to try to explain WHERE I was and where the HOUSE was {1.5 blocks away} as they had no idea! One cop was dispatched to me at teh convenience store, and one to the house to VERIFY it was, indeed, on FIRE! An ambulacne was brought and I spent the night in the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment. The Ambualnce guy, about 2 weeks later, came in into the restaurant I worked at and told me about that night..apparently I had stopped breathing on him twice, and gave him a scare!

Point coming: I fortunately had a "renters" insurance policy that would cover my belongs. It was only for $10K and I stupidly, though he never paid any for the policy, put my room-mate's name on it too. He had bascially a suitcase of clothes and a good camera and a few things. He settled out for $1000 of the policy as I had the rest of the household full of stuff. That COULD have been a mistake as he could have had claim to $5k of the policy. I LOST EVERYTHING  BUt about 7 garbage bags of stuff {mostly clothes} that I tried to salvage, and mostly could be washable} When I calculated up the loss/damages {with a boat load of pics} to claim the total loss the adjuster said I had {and I didn't have to try to salvage anything}, I came up with about $22K in stuff from lots of CDs, major stereo/AV equipment {i was younger then}, and furniture. The adjuster said I could write the rest off my taxes for the unreimbursed amount. Well, that turned out to NOT be true...I could write off a percentage of a  portion of a part of  the remainder that was not insurance reimbursed, so for the other 12K I wasn't reimbursed I got a whole like $200 deduction off my taxes ONLY!

Final Point: I WOULD NOT live without FIRE INSURANCE, or household Liability for that matter, which is included in the $272/yr { the rate has gone up over the years by about $20/year} we pay on the trailer...heavy on the liability, because if someone falls on our lot, WE, not the park, Are considered responsible, even if it due to a crumbling driveway or porch pad that THE PARK OWNS and is "responsible for" {and our driveway is in sad shape the blacktop is crumbling, think the park is going to replace it?????not in 14 years adn I doubt anytime in the future}!

When I moved in here with MOH, I looked at the woefully inadequate home policy MOH had, and we increased contents by a large amount {MOH had only $2k in contents!} , and went in search of a new policy because the State Farm policy MOH had only included "exact replacement with matching kind" coverage. In other words, they will only replace our 1983 3br/1ba trailer with a USED 1983 3br/1ba trailer! I wanted FULL replacement of the trailer with a new one! I contacted Allstate, and got the best deal..it includes replacement costs up to $55k, which should do it. New ones can be had around here for about $39K. I did not care what it cost!

I now believe in the insurance, and hope it never happens again, but I KNOW trailers tend to go up in smoke in  a matter of minutes, not hours! I will ALWAYS carry it now, even if I NEVER have to use it again in my life! The "peace of mind" is overwhelming.

I URGE all of you RENTERS to get renter's insurance...it costs relatively little {about $100/year}, and MAY come in Handy as the Landlord's insurance DOES NOT COVER the renter's property!!!

Packer: congrats on the JOB! The Q is not whether you get a free ride on taxes{no one does!}, but do you have government things like: pensions, retirement accounts, etc! THAT can be where a gov't job pays off! 20 years in and a stack of bennies to help you through the rest of your life! THAT is what I'd be looking for, not tax reductions!

WEll,

Have a GREAT day!

Carpe Diem!

Good Morning All,

Been a while again as it's been crazy busy all day at the track or in the shop and then home, exercize and sleep. Haven't seen the layout for a couple of weeks.  I'll have a regular to go and blueberry crumb donut please Zoe.

Oz James - good to see you back. The Mohave and lower valley didn't have much industry but did have lots of orange groves, farms, ranches and oil wells towards the hills. further north there were towns with the usual stores and in the central San Joaquin there was again cattle and farms and grape vines for Gallo, etc plus Armstrong Rubber had their big west coast tire plant in Hanford. What I recall most living there was miles and miles of nothing outside of town.

Dennis. Ditto on the fire insurance. Both Rob and I have been through house fires and it isn't easy. Make sure you have adequate insurance on your personal belongings as well as coverage for code upgrades. Allstate has every item seperate and you need to be very diligent that you have what you really need. We were never informed about the code update rider so when we needed a different peak beam that was out of pocket along with the rewiring to current code, etc. Very expensive. It's almost easier to let the house burn to the ground. Oh, and document what you have. I lost all my racing programs, memorabilia, team gear, drivers suits, etc. and if there wasn't enough left to identify, we wouldn't have gotten a cent for any of it. Fortunately between inventory lists and evidence, we were able to get full value (another rider in the policy).

Jeff - you never cease to amaze me. A ribbon printer? Really? If you can keep after the switching and roll it should last forever, no? And what nefarious use will you find for it? Could come in handy for printing train orders for your fleet.

Packer - congrats on the new job. Yes you will pay taxes. In fact the Navy witheld income tax and SS on my $47 a month I made as an E-3. Will you be an actual gov't employee or will you be employed by one of the private contractors (DelJen or the like)? Nosey people want to know.

Time to get going, still lots of stuff to do and people popping in with questions.   Cheers, J.R.

Best toddle off now. Withe the orders I'll be at the restaurant from about 8:30 am unitl after 10 pm. yes I'll have a couple hours here and there until 5 but not enough to do anything else. Too bad....weather may have allowed for a little train time.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good Afternoon!

The mail man (it´s not the nice mail lady anymore Crying) brought a little package, the contents of which perked me up a little.

The Keg Harbor R.R. & Nav.Co. now has a second loco on its roster.

As it appears to be usual with Bachmann products, some of the detail parts, that are supposed to be included, are missing. The loco has achoice of three different stacks, I got only two, Unfortunately, the one I wanted to have is missing. The saddle to mount the different stacks is also missing. I just wrote an email to the Bachmann parts department to send me the missing parts. Until they arrive, I have to settle with the wood burner version. Still, isn´t she a beauty?

After lunch, I went out to get some more paint. I also bought a glossy varnish. I grabbed a can from the shelf marked "acrylic paints" only to find out, that the one I bought is solvent-based. Of course, I found out after I opened the can... Whistling. OK, no harm done, all we have is this nice smell of solvents in our house. Should I not report back by tomorrow, Petra has killed me ...

Good morning, everybody.

Ulrich ... I like the photo of your layout

Jeff. That is a nice looking pocket watch. Does it have a story. My mother still has the pockect watches that were owned by my two grandfathers.

JR .... Good to see you! .. You sound busy.

Todd ... Gald to see you too.

Vincent .... Congratualtions on the job. I'm happy for you. (Dang taxes anyhow)

Galaxy ... Sounds like a very scary experience. Glad you are still with us.

V8 Vega. ..... I wonder why the big jump for fire insurance premium.

It's a good idea to have complete homeowners insurance (or renters) to protect from fire, liability, etc. Higher deductables keep the premiums lower, but you should have enough in your savings to cover the deductible in case of need.

My Soundtraxx decoder was returned from the manufacturer. I'm thinking of putting it in one of my 4-8-2's because apparently, my 2-10-2 does not like Tsusami's..... While I was out of town, gremlins creeped into my layout, and a couple of other decoders were not working yesterday.

Italian Roast coffee in a STORMY & SOUTHERN mug, please.

Does Fox Valley Models still exist or were they one of the companies that have gone out of business? I'm curious if the Hiawatha set (with 4-4-2 loco, HO scale) is still made and available anywhere? Not that I can afford it right now, but I am curious.

Looks like a fair chance of storms for this years Mothers Day Powwow. I'm hoping it will hold off or go around the park where it is held.

Healing thoughts to those in need. Have a great day, all.

Cheers! Cowboy

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a coffee to go, half and half and stevia please...  Nice to see the diner full for a change!

I am just about out the door for a meeting with the new committee of a Cub Pack I am helping to get restarted...  The District Executive will be there as well.  We will be primarily discussing recruitment plans.  That's the big place I come in I guess with District Membership.

Going to get up into the 80's today so I will be checking out the air conditioner to make sure all is well.  Need to do some grocery shopping later this afternoon and fill the PiP with that fossilized Dinasuar dung stuff...  I have 20¢ off a gallon which will help a bit.  Been running on electrons all week but will be out at the Museum for opening day on Sunday.  Working Train Crew.  Will be found on Erie C-254 most likely.

Ulrich, nice addition!  The dock is looking very good, BTW!

Best get moving!  Later!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Morning guys

Did the last of my homework for this semester. I have to turn it in, which means driving 20 miles. I'll probably do that around noon.

IDK what the plan for today is. I have a few cars to weather for some people, but it's supposed to rain... I also got a few P2K kits in the mail yesterday. I may work on those too.

On the new job, I did forget about benefits. If they do a decent health plan, I can drop my existing plan which eats about 40% of my income.

I'm off to take my mom to the hospital for a check-up.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Yep, an old ribbon cartridge dot matrix line printer. This is the first ImageWriter printer I've owned. Sold a boatload of them but never owned one before. I thought it might be tough to figure out all the settings on it without a manual. It has fourteen DIP switches up front that fortunately are set properly for the type of serial card my computer has and by the wildest stroke of luck that card is set for this type of printer. It's one of several serial cards I had back in the 80's and thinking about it it's properly the one I had in the computer that was used to demonstrate an ImageWriter printer for customers. Yes, I sold Apple IIe, Apple IIgs, Apple IIc and the first Macintosh systems back then. There's another part of my life you didn't know about. Well in looking through my manuals I found that I DO have an ImageWriter II manual. Haven't so much as opened it yet but I do have it. However I couldn't find the manual for my Super Serial II card so I bought one on Ebay for next to nothing. Now, what am I going to do with this beast? Well using the AppleWriter II or Super-Text word processor programs I'll be typing up a roster of my fleet and I'll print it out on this printer on single sheets or on continuous fanfold printer paper, expensive stuff these days. A box of 2700 sheets would run about $40 with shipping. A dot matrix printout also fits my general era. I've tried but you just can't fake a dot matrix printout with an inkjet printer.

Nope, no story. It came free with a gold-plated Civil War commerative coin set.

Still not feeling my best. I only got a couple hours of sleep last night (this morning actually but who's counting) so I'm not in the best of moods. Waiting for the Home Health nurse to call. Until then I'm keeping busy with some little projects.

Nothing else planned for today. I hope to get some sleep later.

We went out for breakfast this morning, and after that, we stopped at Best Buy where I picked up a nice tripod for the new camera. Playing around with the 55-300 mm lens last weekend, it became obvious that one was needed. Taking photos of the signal bridge down the track, some were a little fuzzy. I was into photography back in the early 60s, but I've forgotten most of what I knew then. So I'm going to have to refresh myself with depth of field, etc. The other thing I noticed is I'm going to have to be a lot more careful with the auto-focus. One shot of the signal bridge was really blurry, but the "NO PARKING" sign about half way down the tracks was sharp & clear as can be. I don't even remember seeing the darn thing.

Spent most of yesterday cutting grass & doing some other yard work. That included planting the cannas, dividing some hostas and general clean up. By the way, that's the 3rd time the grass has been cut in the last 2 weeks. Taking a break today as I'm kind of sore.

I've been enjoying the photos of Ray's that he took while visiting layouts last weekend. Hope he has more.

Looking forward to doing some railfanning again tomorrow & maybe Sunday. Tomorrow may be a little iffy, as they are calling for thunder storms. But we might go anyway and just hope for the best. Stay safe & enjoy your weekend.

Well, my heart has been broken.  I had to have one of my cats put to sleep, at least he won't be in any more pain now.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

Jimmy Braum: Sorry to hear that. I have had to make that decision not only with animals more than once, {one just 2 years ago}, but also with my mother {to shut off life support}. Guess which is the harder of the two? I have told MOH that we will NOT get any more animals, mostly for this reason. MOh says we will. I wonder who will win out?

Well, I have done nothing much but run around today. It reminded me of WHY I go out to do the shopping EARLy in the morning!

I had 3 things to do down the parkway {why do you park in a driveway, but drive on a parkway??}. The furthest is about 8 miles away. It was the Credit Union. Do hte banking, then go to Best Buy to get 2 mor black printer inks, then to Harbor Freight to get 3 things: a new set of Allen wrench, a box of disposable gloves, and a 27 LED task light/emergency flashlight. I took me 2.5 HOURS! With Best Buy not opnening til 10 AM, i waited to do all that. No waiting in line at the CU, and Best Buy was fairly simple. Harbor Freight was a  nightmare, finding stuff, tehn with only 1 cashier open, and a lady in fornt of me returning about 10 items from 2 receipts, one paid in cash one on a card. That and entering her address caused MAJOR problems! the cashier had to call for help, who was no help. Then they did nto have the lgiht i wanted...not until Monday she says. No wonder I couldn't find it in all of the store! Their floofr is bare concrete, which is VERY BAD for my back, waiting in line did not help!

Traffic is a nightmare on the parkway that time of day..the major hiway which connects the parts of the Triple CIties easily is is closed mostly as they are upgrading it to become an interstate. We have a 90degree hairpin curve, connected to another sharp curve that makes an "s" curve that way where 2 interstates connect to this soon-to-be-intersate highway. It is affectionately called "kamikazi curve". They are TRYING to 'straighten it" with new bridges and such. Not only do they close down protions of the hiway, but also local roads below. The parkway is the closest parallel roadway tha can connect the twoi ends of the cities.

Then I had to pick up the arrangement for MIL's grave, as MOH couldn't. It was HUGE, larger than i expected! MOH is happy though, though they made one flower mistake.

By the time i got home this afternoon it was WAY to hot out there to fiddle in the pond/planter. TO give you an idea, it is 74F at the airport high on the garbage hill, 80F downtown, 82F here in our part of the valley, and it is 94F on our porch, with major holes in it, one the size of a large painting, nto quite a movie poster, but large painting! The 94 is aobut what it is at the planter, see the bricks hold/radiate heat.

Jeffrey: I didn't sleep much last night either, nor the night before. I have 2 sleepy meds, one works best on empty stomach, one needs a snack to activate it. I had a snack and took the empty one, then later after midnight, I took a snack one on an empty tummy. didn't work! I finally had another snack to activate the snack one. You'd think it would make me sleep for hours on end! but they don't! I slept about a whole 4 hours last night. I haven't had time today for a nap.

well, go the mail and a bill arrived, so need to settle the banking and pay the bill and see what the other envelopes hold.

Dinner is on my own tonight as MOH will eat out with the client. dunno what I'll have.

 Eveing Dinners!

Flo, Beer pleases and a slices of Pizza

Soory it has been so long scenes my last visit. Been felling beat to death after work, while I do not much a 10 hour day is pretty darn long. Nothing good wise far as commision, think I may have made a extra $20.00 or so, but still better than a stick in the eye.

Only high lite of this week is Wednesday coming home I got 28.2 MPG! Not bad for a 1994 Lic Town Car around town! Big Smile I got a green light on ever intesection, and there are 15 of them!

Busy day and had a heck of a scare! I did cut the back grass, got rid of the trash, went to the bank and got some checks and deposit slip. Went to K-10 Model Trains, libaray and to buy some gas. Hum, debit card would not work? Sigh Plus I was in St Louis, luckily I had some cash on me. Got back to the bank, Barb (branch Manager) said there was $600.00 in the account. She then looked up my debit card and it showed the trasaction was refused do to the account was NSF? Confused

She called the head of Debit Cards, and they saw the samething!Confused Then we figured it out! I use two braches, Maryville 95% of the time and the Collinsville branch. I use Collinsville to depsot my checks due to I drive by it on the way too work. I was out of deposit slips so they made one for me, when they looked up my account, they picked the one that I don't uses! Quick transfer and everything is fine again.

Ulrich, I went to K-10 and they did not have the spikes you wanted. They had some Mirco Marks ones but having no idea what you could use I ordered the ones you requested. They should be in Thursday and if I am off Friday I should get them picked up. With some luck, I will be able to get them in the mail the same day, depending on the cost.

 See you all later, Ken

Ulrich, been watching from the sidelines on your progress. Very, very nice so far!Yes

Well, gotta get back to work for another 40 minutes, then I'm home to see my sweetie! Remember guys, Mothers Day is this weekend! Its amazing how a small flower purchase can have such a positive effect on your railroading!

WELL!

A GREAT BIG "FIDDLESTICKS"! {I might choose to use other words, but can't print them here}

Tomorrow and Sunday MOH has off. We are going to the cemetary 2 hours away to the MIL's grave to place flowers for Mother's Day. BUT we WILL go everywhere to look and buy a NEW STOVE!

WHY?

Because I have two glass baking dishes, one square and one oblong. The oblong I loaded with various pieces of beef smothered in marinade and extra water for good measure.  That was "precooking" them. The square I put a few pieces in that I was going to eat right away tonight for dinner.

Well, Since the heat stays on, I turned it on on 300F for 10 mins, then off for 5. Repeat. for 45 mins.

Well the last 10 minutes it must have gotten to about 500F in there in that 10 minutes cause while all was well the last few minutes ago, Now everyhting was burning when I checked. The glass baking dishes are "safe" to 450F, so that is why I figured the 500F. I pulled the oblong out first, and took off the tin foil {I know it is "Al-you-min-i-yum"} it was just OK, the pan was burnt at teh edgves, but the food was OK. I pulled out the square and as soon as i set it down on the cool burner it went *POOF* shattered, burst, exploded, pick your word!!!

Fortunately the pieces were mostly large pieces! but there area always tiny shards too! The big ones that hit the vinyl floor STUCk or rather burned/melted into the vinyl! I swept up everywhere, but had to wait till all the pieces were COOL enough to touch.

It may have been bad that I had taken the cover off the oblong as I could not save it as there was glass in it. I got a box to put the shattered square into, and let the big one cool off til I could put it in a bag.

So, also the oblong was really burnt around the edges, so I threw it out too. Lost both my glass baking dishes!

GOOd thing I wear glasses and had on thick oven mitts!

So we buy whatever the cheapest electric oven/stove we can find, probably Sunday. TO be delivered as soon as they can next week. I wonder if they will be backed up with Mother's DAy deliveries?

ARGH!

Well, I am looking forward to next weekend.  The NMRA division I belong to (division 2) will be having the monthly meeting at-SCENIC EXPRESS! And they will be open for shopping before and after the meeting! If anyone on here is a member of the NMRA Mid Central Reigon division 2 or going to attend, say hello and introduce yourself- I'll probably be wearing an East Broad Top Railroad hat, and the like. I really needed to do some shopping for some scenery material for finishing up my scrapyard and starting work on an oil refinery from the 1950's.

Good evening. It's a pleasant 74° here tonight. There is however a fair chance of getting wet if going outside. Say a 50/50 chance.

I took the time today to set my other two Super Serial cards to the same settings as the one in my platinum //e 2128 so they're all ready for use with the ImageWriter II printer.

Went into town and got five prescriptions refilled. I only had about a week left on those.

Got the wound vac dressing changed for the weekend. Hopefully it'll last til Monday.

That's it for now. Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

I did a short test print today. If you look at the paper you should be able to see some faint lines of text on it.

Good Morning!

Quite nice to be woken up by some sunshine! The last couple of days saw more ra*n than in the entire month of April. Some regions in southern Germany are already under a flood warning.

Well, Petra did not kill me, but there is that pungent smell of paint in our entire house. I wonder why the neighbors have not started to complain. The paint isn´t even dry, yet, so I´ll have to wait for quite a few hours before I can start doing any job on the layout. I might use the time to sketch up a drawing for my background. It´s about time I get rid of that wall paper look behind my locos.

Galaxy - I am glad you weren´t hurt when your dinner exploded. From now on you´ll have to wear protective clothing when cooking up a meal!

Jimmy - I am sorry to hear about loosing your kitty!

MIA roll call!

Any news from Chris?, Jim? Sue?

Have a great weekend!

morning coffee in the diner..

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING!

Today is Saturday,

May 10, 2014!

Healing thoughts, prayers

and energies for all

who need them,

and for World Peace!

A fellow named Homer had woes
Which he’d drown in his liquor at Moe’s
Were his troubles so large
That he couldn’t tell Marge?
He’s a man of a great many D’OHs.

There once was a man, quite unbalanced,
Refining his limerick talents
A sensational poet,
And the whole world would know it,
But he can’t get the last line to rhyme.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Sir Madog

Galaxy - I am glad you weren´t hurt when your dinner exploded. From now on you´ll have to wear protective clothing when cooking up a meal!

Well, It was just such a SHOCK when it happened!

One does not expect a dish to explode like that! {unless you do something that might cause it to explode}

Since the glass dishes are "safe" to 450f, I figure in that short 10 minutes it must have gotten to be 500f or more in the oven since the burner burns all the time!

Well, we haev put off a new stove for a long enough time, I guess. It will be nice but strange to put something in the oven to bake or roast and NOT have to watch it like a hawk! Apparently I did not watch closely enough last night!

Just a few quick shots I took this morning.

I definitively have to do something about this backdrop...

Good morning ....

Dennis B .... Good to see you in the Diner! ..... Your RS1 is fabulous! I saw your posts in the diesel thread too. BowYes

Jimmy .... Nice idea to meet at Scenic Express where you can shop too.

Karl .... Good to hear NWSL took care of the gear for you.

Ulrich ..... I like the photos of the engine on the dock. I am still very confident, you can make a nice backdrop yourself if you choose to do so. I would encourage you to try so you will see it actually can be fun. Otherewise, Faller makes nice paper backdrops which are not too costly and have good looking clouds.

Good morning. It's 71° with 89% humidity. The high will be 88°, cloudy with a small chance of rain.

Not much going on today. Postal tracking shows that the motherboard I picked up on May 2nd for $26 will arrive today. The printer ribbon I ordered is in Shreveport at this time so I should have it on Monday at the latest. Scratch that! I've just been notified it'll be here today!

Got a call from my father last night. They took my grand nephew to Steam Town yesterday. Where I'm told he had a blast. Like me he's a train nut.

And that's all that's going on in my world at this time.

Garry - in any case, I will give it a try. If I fail, all I will have invested is a little money for the paint and lots of time. I can still get this one:

... and cut off the lower part. I know am ambitious, but I am also confident I can do better than this one!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Pumpkin Seed Flax Granola with Skim Milk and Stevia to go along with my Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please....

Tomorrow is open ing day out at the R&GV RR Museum.  We got a nice bit of free publicity on a local TV News program a few days ago, so we are hoping it will be a busy first day.  The museum has several other large publicity events going on this summer as well.  We have doubled the number of diesel train days out there so I will be working train crew more than museum guide this year.  Why hang around the staion when I can be aboard the train!

Jimmy, very sad to lose a pet.  Know all too well how hard it is to say goodbye to them when that time comes.  We all know you made the right decision for the cat if he was in pain.

 Tom, this is for you...

I will be heading out to Canandaigua this afternoon.  I have some stuff to deliver to my sister (flyers for her summer Art classes, a bag of fresh cut asperagus, and about 50 cat whiskers from the boys) so we will take a trip to a well known local gardenplant store a few miles south on Canandaigua Lake.  I want to get some strawberries to plant in the rock garden I put in last year, and possibly some other items.

Sun is trying to make an appearance from time to time.  Today should be a very pleasent day.   Currently 69°F outside with a high around 73°F later this afternoon.  Nice to be out and around without a heavy winter coat.  Also gives me a chance to do the "sun bathing" my dermatologist wants me to do for the psoriasis on my back.

Time to gte moving I think.  Will catch up to you all later!

We'll get there sooner or later!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee please and ummmm, I’ll just help myself to the donut bar thank you.

Ulrich- layout is looking top notch as we say.Yes I'm confident you have the talent to do whatever you like. That, and you're German so you can say things most of us don't understand, but sounds good while you do it.Laugh

Probaly go into town today and while there grab a couple steaks for the grill tomorrow. Not sure what we’ll do for Mothers’ Day so like the Boy Scout I wasn’t, best be prepared (exagerrated salute). I doubt the kids will do anything other than ask what we are doing and then offer to come along….Grumpystrap hangers. I’ll probably forego the usual “she’s not my Mother, she’s yours” comments this year.  BUT for now, I’ll get out there and see what needs to be done to get the grill going this year. Each year it takes more and more w*rk the older it gets.Sigh Might just be time for a new one. Hope not. Just depends on how many parts I need to fabricate (if I can) to replace the rusted out ones. We’ll see. I won’t mess with anything dealing with gas other than buy replacement parts, so the only thing I make is the brackets, frame pieces etc. Had to buy igniters a couple three years ago and they lasted about a year so I just use a long lighter. Too bad I didn’t check it out earlier, that way if it can’t be fixed, or costs too much compared to a new one, I’d had the all town cleanup to take it to. This way I have to hang on to it and it’s a huge 6 burner job so no just sticking it in a corner somewhere. It was also a Fathers Day “gift”  years ago, but since the “gift” of it was an encouragement to buy as a Fathers Day “gift” without an offer to pay and actually make it a gift, I have no real attachment to it I suppose. I do like it…but we don’t need a monster anymore. A much smaller one will do just fine.

Best get movin if I wanna get anything done. Like I thought, yesterday was a bust. Spent all day at the restaurant.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!
