Jeffrey, glad you got the stolen goods back!  Is the perp still able to walk, or is he in a hole buried up to his head which has honey smeared on it???  (Old native punishment...  Ants love honey!)

Don't I wish! No, he had a choice. He could be handed over to the local constabulary or he could stay far away from my door from now on. He'll be watched. If he comes near my place again he'll be turned over so fast his hair will fall out. You don't want to be on their naughty list. These people don't play, and some of them are cops. I have a lot of friends here.

I bet you have many friends because you are an "osiyu asgaya" ..... I looked up "good " and "man". There were 5 choices for "good" and 2 choices for "man". I bet I did not get it right, but it was fun looking up words.

Anyhow, Jeff, I'm glad you got such a fast response.

Ken, I have a friend(TA462) who buys and restores old muscle cars.  I know he is looking for a few Mopars to add to his collection.  If your serious about selling it let me know.  $6000 seems kind of low if those pictures are of the car.  He just came back from Kentucky with a 69 Charger.

Jeffrey- I understand the guy’s coming in all interested in trains intending to take something. Do you know why he tried to ruin something while he was there? That’s what I don’t get. What’s the reasoning behind that? I mean it’s not like you were in a model building contest or anything.

Near as I can figure I had something he couldn't have. I have no intentions of building any copies of the F unit trio and I'd already told him they weren't for sale so he could forget leaving with them. I can't understand what the appeal of them would be. They're just rebuilt junkers. They have some hand crafted parts but nothing that can't be easily reproduced by someone with the know-how to do it, which he clearly appeared not to have. These took me quite a while to build so I'm not giving them up. Perhaps he was thinking if I can't have them you can't have them either. Just because you can't make something doesn't mean you can't wreck it. It's easier to destroy something than it is to create something.

Good morning. It's 74° with 95% humidity. The high will be 85°.

Despite all the excitement yesterday I did have some relaxation time. My niece and her husband were having a family get-together at their home yesterday with plenty of barbeque. It was very good. Today I'll be working on the F unit trio. I just have to put them back together and it should be running again by noon. I don't have any plans for anything else.

  Morning All,

Currently 44 with an expected high of 72 under sunny and breezy skies.

Typical Sunday shift today 10 to 6, which is an opener and closer. The store was busy yesterday, a lot of foot traffic, but not much buying in the hunting firearms section, where I spend most of the time, as I am not a fisherman or into archery.

After gluing down some WS track bed and laying some track on the inner loop, noticed a VERY uneven joint where if I back up my Daylight passenger train, it derails. So I have to tear up that track and smoothe out that area.Super Angry I thought I had it smoothe enough, guess I was wrong.Confused

Jeff  - Glad you got your stuff back and not too much damage to your other engine. I hope Wayne learned his lesson.

   Prayers to all in need.

Let Us Remember, lest we forget those who fought and died in the services of our military! It is officially tomorrow, but we need to never forget...

Memorial Day weekend here is more like Thanksgiving Week here with the weather!!! Yesterday only reached 43F, and The high today is only supposed to be 50s. I actually ran the heat yesterday and today! Tomorrow 60s for a high, hopefully Sunny too tomorrow! The old North Wind is a blowin'!

Snow was recorded on Thursday I guess it was, and that set a new record for the latest day in the calendar year for snow to fall here!!!

Had my father for Memorial Day dinner. Liver, onions and bacon. {I know some of you are going "ew". but we love it}  He said about 2 months ago that he was looking for a good liver dinner..I told him the one diner that makes good liver, but marked in my memory that he was after a good liver dinner. Since MOH likes my liver too, I knew it was gonna be a hit! So that is what we had last night.

Was gonna plan the merry golds but not today's cold! will wait til tomorrow.if they didn't freeze last night and the night before...forgot to cover them! Both nights!

GOt my new CDs: Po'okela chants, and Call It What You WIll, both Hawaiian Mele chants from Mark Keali'i Ho'oalu.. been driving MOH crazy listening to them. another manic episode for me..to play music over adn over. part to learn it, part to enjoy it, mostly manic repeats...75% worth.

well, laundry washer is done must put into dryer...later..

Well I said the trio would be running again by noon. I missed that by thirty minutes. The second unit had a loud rumble to it that I had to sort out. It could barely be heard without the shell on but then the shell is an old Varney metal shell and by itself weighs eleven ounces. And it was greatly amplifying the noise. The source of the noise turned out to be a wire dragging on a drive shaft. The trio was back in operation at 12:30.

Hi Guys,

Not much going on here today. The weather is somewhat cool with a strong breeze but its comfortable out. I haven't done anything today except enjoy a Sunday of Racing with the Monaco GP this morning followed by the Indy 500 this afternoon and will watch some of the Coke 600 tonight. I was planning on doing some railroading yesterday as I knew Id be sitting in front of the TV today but never really got into anything.

Back to work tomorrow, Happy Memorial Day to you guys down South Yes

Italian roast coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.

Following a really rough week physically, today was a landmark day here on the ol' farm. Got all the miniature Zebu cows and Pygmy goats sold, loaded and heading down the road to their new home. No more buying hay for the cows, no more damaged orchard trees from goat escapes, and I can remove the panels from the creek which were only there because of the goats. Tomorrow I can finally open back up the gates between the middle and front pastures for the horses. Plus, this put some change in my pockets. Going to celebrate with a restful few days to let this body heal a bit. Big Smile

Hope everyone is doing well.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have the Buffet that is set up so nicely over by the window....  You can just bring the first of several cups of decaf I will need to help me relax....

Had a great day out at the museum.  Fairly good steady stream of visitors about as we usually have on days we run the track cars.  Several families said they want to come back when we are running Diesel Trains so I guess we did a good job of getting them interested in the museum.  I am just beat though.  Two days in a row of several hours standing on my old feet has done me in.  I can barely walk right now, back hurts, and one knee gave out and was causing me pain near the end of the afternoon.  We had a new member come out to be a Museum Guide.  He was a bit unnerved when he got there wondering if he could do the job.  He followed us around for the first group, then took a bunch on tour after that.  The rest of the day I just hung around outside and watched for safety around the yard and talked with the visitors who didn't go with the "tour".  At the end of the day, the new guy said he had a great time and will definitely come back out to be a guide again soon.

When I got home, I had to do the meter readings for the electric for the month.  I say readings because there are two different numbers I have to send to NYSEG for my home reading.  One is the number of kWh I have used from the grid, and the other is the number of kWh I have sent out onto the grid.  This month I used 269 kWh from the grid and returned 485 kWh to the grid.  That gives me 216 kWh credit for a month I don't have extra electric generated here.  According to the Online Solar info for my system it produced 650 kWhs of power from April 25 to May 26...  (and today is not quite over... power is still up though not producing much by now).  Still have to read the gas meter tonight and send that in.

Jeffrey, glad to hear you were able to repair the damage caused by the vandal!  Hope he will think better of repeating his little game with anyone in the future!

Galaxy, hope you don't get a frost tonight...  They have Central NY under a frost advisory for tonight.  I doubt we will see any of it though as the temps are supposed to hold in the upper 30s.

Have to give my son a call and find out what is up for tomorrow.  he says they will have a picnic but didn't know what time it was going to be.  I have a delivery for the boulder and the topsoil scheduled for sometime between 11AM and 1PM tomorrow and I know he wants to get some more fishing in.  This weekend is the Seneca Lake Trout Derby, so the city is filled with fishermen from all over.  And I do mean from all over!  We have had people fly in from Europe, and Asia for this event...  Most are from central NY, but everyone who attends help give the tourist industry a big boost this weekend around here.

Catch you all in a bit!

As I reported earlier the F unit Frankensteins are running again. Tomorrow I'll park the GP40's on a siding and put the trio to work on a 30+ unit freight. They should be able to handle that easily. Well for the most part I got a lot of nothing accomplished today. I deserved a break after yesterday. Tomorrow looks like it's going to be nice with just a tiny chance of getting wet.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Here's what the second unit of the trio looked like before it was painted black.

When asked by the shop foreman what color should be used for the main color on the locos the L&A president told him "it can be any color you want it to be - as long as it's black".

 Evening Dinners Sigh

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Work Front, we closed at 6:00 PM, I walked out the door at 7:50 PM. Yep that sucked.

Selling The 68 Road Runner. Boy I lost sleep over this last night.

Main reason I have not worked on it for 6 years, is the darn train layout. It has taken up the whole garage! If I start working on the Road Runner again, it means tearing down the layout. When I rolled her outside it was to build the slot car track.

 Reason not to sale.

1 I don't need the extra money right now. While a bigger nest egg is all wise good, I am in fair shape for now.

2 Nothing I want to speak off. With the 11 engines coming, how many more do I need? If I keep all 11 engines (that I will not do) I will have 41 engines. Yea, I want a few more big steamers but I will have to change a few turns to run them.

3 Can't build my dream layout! Because of Bank Of Stupid. If BoS modifies my loan that is a different story.

4 Cannot buy a Motorcycle. With Sue getting SSI we are only allowed two Vehicle's. (we never claimed the Road Runner, it has not been plated for 10 years or so) Not sure if I am allowed to have a bike with her getting SSI. I really miss riding. I have all wise said I won't sale a car unless there is something I wanted. So when Gino contacted me, I started thinking about riding again.

If Gino brings 60 $100.00 bills with him, might be time. If his Farther and Gino try to low ball me with something silly, no way!

More than likely another sleepless night a head of me.

 Ken

   Evening All,

My usual 35 minute drive into w**k this morning took 98 minute. There was an accident on I 80, and out here there is really no other way to get to Reno from where I live. There was a basketball tournament in town, so lots of people from California who wanted to look at guns, but not buy because of CA's laws regarding firearms. Long day of not selling much and small commission.

Tore up the track with the dip and fixed the subroadbed, things run better.

     Prayers to all in need.

Good evening.

Jeff .... A suggestion for the B-unit with solid port holes. I have an old Varney shell like that, and I painted the port holes black. Then I applied a coat of clear gloss on them. They look surprisingly like real glass port holes. I remember it was tedius work with a very small paint brush, but worth the time.

Here is another photo of an old auto carrier. This one is significant to me because it is a load of 1950 buicks.

When I was a kid and growing up west of Chicago, our family had a 1950 Buick Roadmaster. I recall many long rides stuck in the back seat with my two sisters. Most of the trips were to visit family members in Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas. Trips included going to my grandparents' farm in Iowa. It was before interstate highways and before air conditioning.I still remember passing smelly barn yards and following smelly cattle trucks. Also, I remember many of the Burma Shave signs. ... Those were the days.

well, I'm a persistent bugger at that! I found some N scale SP&S coaches by intermountain!!! 4 road numbers in the scheme that matches #750 in hourglass scheme. Then to get some GN coaches and F units or a GN E7A. Con Cors are based off of GN cars so that'll square those away, then I'll get some undec. MTL cars to work on as I build the layout.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and a couple peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches, BBQ flavored chips (the thin ones) and some macaroni salad please, thanks.

Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a high near 76.

Hm, sounds like the L&A is run by Henry Ford.

Finished painting the bedroom, now for the closet today probably. Then who knows what. Nothing outside of course except maybe roll the yard again between rains since we’ve got 2.75” so far with more to come today. Oh wait, grass is too tall. Can’t do that I guess. Maybe do some more clean up w**k in the trainroom.

I might have done that if I had thought about it. I drilled them out with a slow running bit with minimal pressure so as not to shatter the Zamak. It took a while.

Good morning. It's 69° with 100% humidity. The high will be 88°.

The F unit trio got it's first run under load since I cleaned the super glue out of the trucks. I was just lucky that it hardly adhered to anything. It was good to feel the layout extension vibrating as the trio came around the loop. I don't know exactly how much it weighs but it's a good bit. I had a problem with the rear truck of the lead unit derailing on turnouts. Turned out the worm housing clip wasn't completely secure. No plans for today. Just tackle whatever comes along.

I got a short video of the trio in action this morning. Just click the photo below.

Morning, and happy Memorial Day.

Got PHEAA info this week, and I'm getting a little more from them than I did FAFSA. To be exact, almost $1700 MORE per semester! Real happy about that.

Also checked to see what I got on my Trig final, and got a 97 on that!

The 109 is also completely done (don't have photo bucket, so I can't share any photos of it), and starting work on the 38 again by spraying on a new coat of aluminum paint. Will start the Mustang when the 38 is getting decals.

EDIT: Top? Man it's been a while, eat up everyone!

Good Morning All,

Haven't been here for a while though I drive by occasionally. I would however be remiss if I didn't wish you all a good Memorial Day and also to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy our lives as they are today.

My world has been a bit nuts with shop stuff and repairs and racing all piling on. Haven't been in the basement to play with trains for months and it isn't getting any easier but I'm not complaining.

My best to you all,   J.R.
