Good Morning!!!

Coffee and an order of fried crawfish with some of that zippy horseradish dipping sauce and an order of onion rings please. Thanks.

Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 37.

Well, as I suspected the girls were just tickled to see me. Oh they did a good job appearing as if it was just another day and I hadn’t even been gone, but I could tell just in the way they went about their business they seemed more……at ease than when I wasn’t there.Whistling

Pulled the train station from Gold Creek yesterday. It’s now on the w**kbench. I’ve decided to put an interior in it. The windows are fairly small so it wouldn’t be easy to see in so it wouldn’t take a lot. Besides, it’s a small town station that is actually probably bigger than the town would need anymore so….., real life would be pretty empty anyway. It just needs something as do all the others. I figure while I’m dealing with the drying issues, I can w**k on some models in other parts and some stuff other than where I’m w**king unless, I’m w**king….you know this is getting confusing even to me and it's my idea.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. I think. It's 36° with 88% humidity. The high will be 65°.

I feel no better than I did last night. My joints are burning and hurt every time I move. I think I'll just do a whole bunch of nothing today. Excuse me while I fall apart right here.

Good Morning all,

Wow how time slips away.  I’ve been busy casting HO stuff in the basement and work has been really busy.  Contractors have no idea how the sequestration might affect our office and neither do we since no one can really forecast how long it will take DC to develop a budget.  So I’ve been busy reviewing blueprints and developing plans for projects.  Some of these projects won’t start until mid summer but nobody wants things delayed if I get a 22 day vacation.

So anyway I’m casing propane tanks and track bumpers.

Ulrich, good luck on the move.  Parents are never easy…..

PC is acting weird on me also, for some reason it freezes up when It tries to load a DVD?? weird. The PC is almost 7 years old so It doesnt owe me anything. I think the wife will be mad if it dies because that means she has to share her laptop, lol or I hookup the older desktop PC from the workshop.

My DVD drive does the same thing yours does. It has nothing to do with your pc. The DVD drive is going out and needs to be replaced.

Again, hope to make some progress on the P-38 tonight. Also looking forward to a D.C. trip that's coming up next week.

Jeffery,

By the time you see this I hope you have slept well.  I have my own joint pain as a result of being hit by a car.  Fortunately I don't always have it.  When I do I need a muscle relaxant.  So I feel for you and wish I could offer more than a few words of sympathy.

Jeff .... Looks like Sundown is hosting FP7-o-mania! ........ I like the Rock Island one very much.

I'm hoping to have enough good ones for a small fleet. A number of not so good ones will be used as parts sources if need be.

Packing it in a bit early tonight. I sometimes get to the point where my joints feel like they're burning. I'm at that point now. It usually only lasts a few hours but it has been known to last for days. The docs have no idea what causes it. Hopefully a good nights sleep, or even a few hours of sleep will be enough. See y'all tomorrow.

Howdy .... Just returned home in KY from Detroit and Cincinnati. Snowed last night in Cincy. .... Went to Detroit first (last week)......  Family lives north of Detroit, and so it requires driving through it. I once worked in Detroit, and while there, the city deteriorated continuously. Now it is worse. I arrived in the evening, and all the freeway lights were not working. I found out why. Copper thieves take the electrical equipment. One would-be thief electrocuted himself while attempting to steal the equipment. That's not all; thieves take brass fittings from fire hydrants making them inoperable. ..... So, if you are modeling a city in this era, you may wish to consider making it look bankrupt. .... Maybe, Dennis in California is on to something after all. I did not think he was too political talking about L A ... .

Jeff .... Looks like Sundown is hosting FP7-o-mania! ........ I like the Rock Island one very much.

Canadian Dennis...... To install DCC in your RDC, I suggest consulting with Dr. Google. Search "Install DCC HO Proto RDC" .... (Assuming you have an HO Proto 1000 RDC. Change the search if you have something else. ) You may find several links that will help you. I have had good luck with sites maintained by TCS, Digitrax, and Tony's Train Exchange. .... You might even find a You Tube presentation of such an installation that will be helpful/.

Ulrich ..... I hope the move goes well!

There was a train show in the Detroit area while I was there. .... So, I went to it. I have not been to trains shows much in recent years. I purchased scenery materials, vehicles, and other stuff for the layout. I also bought some parts I need for train cars. One other item is an old Bowser kit for street car overhead wire; and I need that for my streetcar line.

Happy model Railroading!

Hi Packer,

Not exactly sure what your rates of pay are, but just ball parking it, I would say that you will work an additional 10 hours for about $40.00.  That is $4.00 an hour.....  That doesn't look to great to me.

Just saying >>>>>>

Evening All,

Just wanted to check in and say hi. I am beat. Today I drove down to and back from West Palm Beach (6 hours) doing a skunk rescue, so we have another addition until Sunday when he will continue his journey to his new home. After that I got a haircut and swept the floor. I think it will be a early night.

Hope everybody has a good night and prayers for those in need.

well, it was worth a try galaxy I had a chessie system GP40 a while ago. I'm planning on getting some atlas chessie system units because Chessie and NYC are my two east coast roads that I like.

Packer I have a pair of offset cabeese, one MTL, one atlas, an extended vision made by CC, a bay window by Model power. all in BN, I need to get an atlas ext. vision for both BN and GN(for my GN alcos). I'd like to have some undecorated locos of various builds just so I can complete some projects that I've been pondering for some time now.

And I got this for under $40? I feel like I just ripped off the Crown Jewels and got away with it! I'll have to see if I can find more of these in this price range and pick them up as I can.

Nice score Jeffrey. Must feel great to have a New Prime Mover for a change. Thumbs Up I'm spoiled I know. If I posted pictures of all the new stuff I've been fortunate enough to purchase in the last year, folks would throw me out of the Diner.

Speaking of purchasing stuff, I need some more Atlas Twin Coil Switch Machines in HO surface mount. Been trying to find a 1/2 dozen Left hand ones and no one seems to have them. Anyone around the Diner looking to sell some new/used ones???? Just so long as they work, just PM me.

I also have a Bud Rail Car that I want to install a Digitrax decoder in. No sound. Anyone done one of these installs??? Jeffrey... master of the impossible Bow... any ideas?

No Model Work today unfortunately, had to do some "Touch Up" on that stupid Yellow paint MOH chose. Whistling

Cheers to all

Afternoon guys

Well the interview seemed to go well. The issues I'm looking at with the job at Ace is it's full time, and would interfere with some "other" things that I have to do. And it would be tricky to keep my current job and have that one. The other issue is it's minimum wage, which is about 1 dollar an hour less than what I currently have. The pros are that the schedule is consistant (unlike my current one) and I'd get 40 hours. I'm getting around 30 or so on average now. I'm just wondering if the pay cut is really worth the extra hours... If I keep both jobs I'll have a good amount of money, but then come summer I would be looking at going back to college. Any opinions?

Gary, I have 4 bay-window (3 walthers and an athearn), 3 Extended-vision (2 atlas and an athearn), and 1 Q wood caboose (walthers). In my project bin I have 2 Extended vision cabooses (atlas), 1 santa fe-type caboose (athearn), and 3 CB&Q NE12 cabooses (bachmann). I'm just waiting on the weather to be good to paint them into BN green. But then I have like 60 locos, about a third are in the painting and detailing stages.

Ken, Sorry I didn't get the package out today. I still haven't been payed back for the vet bill from last week.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

BN: 4 E8As, 2 E7's, SD40, F7, SD90, Dash8-40cw, NW2, and a GP15-1

NP: 4-8-2 Lt Mtn.

SP&S: RS1

Afternoon folks!

Had just turned on the computer this morning when my son called.  It seems his niece who has Rett Syndrome was taken by ambulance to Strong Hospital in Rochester last night  (SIL's child).  She had been throwing up since last Saturday and the local Emergency room thought she might have an intestinal blockage, hence the ride to Rochester.  The family had to shuttle a car up to Rochester so the kids mom could drive back home and my son was providing transportation for his BIL who was driving the SIL's car for them.  Guess who got to watch the Granddaughter so all this could happen?  I had a bout 30 minutes to get breakfast, dressed, and over to my son's house.  Got home about an hour ago.  Good news is the little girl doesn't have a blockage, but they think just has a virus.

Ulrich, good luck with the move tomorrow.  Yes, I think you deserve a break from all this stuff!  Hope this works out well for your parents.

Tom, I must have missed the person asking about the bricks....  couple of reasons I was told, besides the fact that they do them that way these days.  First off the new ones are made shorter than the old ones, and second if the basement gets a couple inches of water in it, the furnace is protected from the damage.  My old furnace was basically rotted out at the bottom from the times water got on the floor in that part of the basement.

I have to get a large pile of materials sorted and ready to take with me to the Reunion Committee meeting tonight.

Later!

]os Angeles City election for mayor no one got 50% so the top two will be in a runoff election. Both are identical wholly owned by the public employee unions so LA. will continue on its downward slide and on the road to bankrupcy. And people who earn one quarter of what the public employee unions workers make will continue to pay their unbelievable pay, pensions and health care. And LA will remain a sanctuary city, its the hit and run capital of the world now.
The good news is the half cent sales tax increase failed.Big Smile I will vote in the runoff election because I guarantee you there will be another tax increase on that one.

Needless to say , I ignore those who are buying new trains, makes me a tad jealous,  as I have had a 0 budget for 2 years now, and CERTAINLY don't have one now. Besides, I have torn my layout down to tracks, but haven't the budget to EXPAND it like I wanted.

You won't like me then.

*

Since we don't have the high winds today I went to town this morning to get refills on all my meds and send a package on it's way to Florida. I got home about noon and found two packages waiting on me. One was a box containing an assortment of nine freight cars from Bachmann, Roco, Mantua, Lionel and Life-Like. The other was the box with my new FP7. And it is literally new. E-R Models Rock Island 405. Not a scratch on it anywhere and the factory lube in the gear boxes. If it's ever been run before today I can't tell it. Upon opening it up I saw that it was DCC Ready. It took me about five seconds to plug a Digitrax DH123 into that socket. The loco runs like a Swiss watch. No gear noise, no motor hum. And I got this for under $40? I feel like I just ripped off the Crown Jewels and got away with it! I'll have to see if I can find more of these in this price range and pick them up as I can.

well,

no sooner did I get comfy and of course got the call for the free bread distribution. I got  a loaf of: french, Italian "everything" bread, a bag of bagels, a 12 pack seseme seed Kaiser rolls, and a package of six donuts so MOH has some sweets. It is from the local grocery chain instead of day old sales they give free  to area Churches for the poor. Since my nice neighbors administer it for Wednesdays,  they share with some of  us too. It is naturally a tax write off for the chain.
