What a beautiful Morning here in Maryville! To bad I will have to muck up the day by going to work. Well Tyler won't be there, so maybe I will have a good day. Big Smile

I am off Wednesday and Thursday! Most of Wednesday will be spent at the VA Hospital having blood test done and see what they think of the infected toe.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar and a cup or two of dark roast coffee to get started today.

Ulrich, Rob took the words right out of my mouth!  Whether your parents realize it or not, you know that you have been there for them even at risk to yourself!  Do back off from them for a while.  It will be good for both you and your parents.

This morning is once again a gloomy sort of day outside with the current temperature hanging  around 38°F.  They are threatening that a bright yellow thing could come out later this afternoon for an hour or so and ruin all the yucky gloomy ickyness though!

I heard a bad word being used here in the diner....  Sounded like Ken!  Did he actually mention that nasty word that starts with the letter W?  Eeeeuuuuuw!

Finally have a place and a date for the NMRA Division Spring Meet.  now I just need to put together a program for the day.  All this needs to be done by yesterday!

Best get to w....  Opps!  Well, you know!

Hello again, and maybe the final time until Saturday. Still have to pack for D.C. trip after all.

Rain seems to have tappered off, looks good in D.C. right now.

Gary, those lights look good inside the passenger cars.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, just a cup of hot chocolate to tide me....  Nah, it's close enough to supper so I'll have the BBQ Chicken with  baked potato (and sour cream of course), and a trip to the salad bar to go along with a cup of decaf please.

Jake, have fun in DC.  One of my favorite vacation spots.  Been there three times.  The Smithsonian Museums are fantastic!  The National Cathedral will take your breath away!!!

I found out something today...  Of course there is still a lot I don't know.  The more I learn the more I realize I have yet to learn...  Anyway, I loaded up a couple 20 lb. Propane bottles in the PIP to go over to the Propane place to get refilled.  I mentioned to a lady filling them that I had one at home that was full, but the propane didn't come out with enough pressure to be used with the grill.  The flame would barely light.  Asked what I should do.  I figured I would just bring it over and trade in the bottle for a different bottle.  She asked me if I knew and had done the "Fix-it" maneuver on it.  This consists of taking the bottle off the grill, and picking it up and forcefully dropping it on hard ground a couple times (having the bottom hit the ground).  I told her no I didn't know about that one.  I just tried to light the grill again, and the problem was still there from last fall, so I took the bottle off, took it out to the driveway, and hit it on the ground a couple times.  Hooked it back up to the grill and now it is working!  Neat, huh?  So now I have 3 20 lb. bottles of propane to do the summer for grilling outside, I guess.

Blackie has decided to spend today sleeping by the plants in the office/dining room area here by me.  First day in a long time he hasn't spent on the couch in the living room.  His brother has been on the couch all day.  They both did come out and have some lunch earlier.  No problems so far today.  I found out why Manét was acting sad yesterday.  When I went to bed last night he had left me the largest hairball on the comforter on my side of the bed I have ever seen!  Always like changing the bed when I am ready to go to sleep....

The weather people were promising something called sunshine today....  No dice.  The closest it has come is the dark black clouds sometimes separated enough so you could see the lighter grey ones in between.  I'm sure the sky will clear just as soon as the sun goes down.....  Another 3 or 4 kWh day here in photovoltaic land.Grumpy

I have been trying to get some program lined up for the Spring NMRA Meet here in these parts.  Some progress has been made, but no guarantees of anything yet.

Later!

Hello all, just a note to let you know I'm still around to annoy you. Haven't checked in of late, nothing to report really. Been doing some more wiring on the layout, running a few trains and trying to decide if it's time to do some model building or something. Sort of tired of messing with trackwork etc.

Warm thoughts to all in need.

Well I made a lot of progress on the layout cleanup, finally. I found the missing pliers and the missing loco. I know an F7 is a bit big to lose but with that pile of stuff anything was possible. I also found a roll of electrical tape, two tubes of JB Weld, a 6-in-1 screwdriver, two Bachmann track cleaning pads, a Boley truck and a Bachmann decoder. And that was just on the layout extension. I put away enough stuff to fill four shoe boxes. Next I have to concentrate on the east end of the layout where the pieces of my unfinished grain elevator project are.

I never did get outside today though I did look out the window several times. It was a very bright sunny day from what I could see and it looks like we'll have that big bright yellow orb overhead the next couple of days.

That's all for today so I'll pack it in now and call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just my cup of decaf please.  What?  yes I am a man of habit I guess...

Managed to get a few minutes in the train room between several other things going on.  Got a bit more done on the scenery.  I will vacuum the areaq tomorrow and add a few more trees along the wall.  I want to put in a farm pasture i9n the area complete with Holstein Cows  (Nobody makes Guernseys that I can find and I don't feel like repainting them...), and I am trying to decide what type of old time fence I want to use in the area.  Leaning toward a stacked wooden one.  The ones that zigzag down the field.

Blackie has stayed out in this part of the house all day...  Normally he is back on the couch in the living room this time of night.  Seems to be getting around pretty good and hasn't thrown up at all since I changed the feeding schedule.

Time to call it a night!  Prayers for all in need out there.

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Uneventful Day at the Work Front. All so unprofitable, but I got out on time and that is fine with me.

Off Wednesday and Thursday but no rest for me!

Wednesday First off to the VA Hospital. First they will look at the toe ulcer and decided if I am get the skin graft. If I do get the graft that will mean I am off work for 2 to 3 weeks. Which at this point would be fine with me! Then I get some blood test done, mainly my A1C test. Sort of hard part is all I can have be for the test is either Black Coffee Ick! or water? Wounder if I can drive with no caffeine in me? Whistling

After I get home, it is time to plan my attack of BoS. One of the things that is hurting me is my Home Owners Insurances. It by it self is $1400.00 a year or $116.00 a month. Right now my house and contents is insured for full replacement value. Going to see if I can drop the content part (get a separate insurances) and insure the house for only what I owe Bank of Stupid which is $53,000.00. I know if there is a Fire I am Screwed, But I am Screwed Any Way Dealing With These Idiots!

Thursday I have to fight with Bank of America, or as we all know them Band of Stupid! Bang Head After that call if I am up to it, might work on getting my old BB Athearn Santa Fe Warbonnet FP 45 back on the rails.

I may all so just talk my self into getting the Bachmann engine I talked about last week from K-10 Model Trains, just maybe. Whistling As Tom Curies said in Risky Business "Some Times You Have To Say What the Cool".

 Later, Ken

Good Morning all,

Galaxy, they could save the postal service by reversing the 2006 decision to make the USPS to pay upfront for pensions.  Up until 2006 the USPS showed a profit every year.

I think our leaders are living in a bubble, they have no idea how much gasoline is costing us and I don’t think they understand what matters to us.  If they did I wouldn’t be taxed on rain fall….

Model train front: Katje, the puppy, can’t walk down the basement steps since they are linoleum covered she can climb the steps no problem but going down her feet slip.  So every time I go downstairs to work on train stuff she tears through the upstairs trying to get my attention and bait me out of the basement.  She will grab papers off the desk or pull towels of the rods and sit at the landing shredding stuff until I come back upstairs.  I have a kennel for her but I don’t want to leave her locked up in it all day when I’m home.  If anyone has some ideas how to break her of this habit I would appreciate any suggestions….

Good morning. It's 46° with 65% humidity. The high will be 65°.

As I look outside this morning I see lots of sunshine. The weather guesser says it'll be around until the weekend.

My plan for today is to clear some of the stuff out of the closet. I have a bunch of model railroad stuff in there. Most of it is old freight cars that are still of some use and some loco parts and frames but a lot of it is junk that nobody can use. Old cracked or detail stripped E and F unit shells, 60-70's era diesel bits and pieces, etc. A lot of it is just taking up space. So if I have time today out it goes. There's also a bunch of stuff under the layout that has to go. Old boxes mostly.

Morning gang! Cowboy

Flo, can I get some coffee in a Maryland Midland mug and 2 of the nice pillow soft donuts? Gotta be vewwy vewwy quiet today. No, I'm not hunting wabbit, SWMBO is home today sick. She's got Barry's cold! At least the soldering iron makes no noise, so I can install a few decoders today.

Ray, glad to hear Blackie has taken to the new feeding schedule. I know hairballs arn't any fun either. Funny thing, Tink (shorthaired) get them worse than Midnight (longhaired).Confused

That yellow blob reappeared for a bit this morning, but its starting to fade. Yup, you guessed it,,more rain coming, in fact the 10 day forecast shows more rain than sun. Oh Joy!Hmm The yard goes squish squish when you walk on it as it is!

Oh well, time to burn my fingers a little, catch y'all later!

Good Afternoon, Folks!

Just woke up from a mid-day nap. The morning has been quite busy, running a few errands for my parents. The bulk has been done, all we now need to do is to get a few more things from my parents´ house, initiate the selling of the house, and dispose of the car. All other matters are beyond what we can do. Called my parents this morning and did not hear a complaint from them - good. Seems as if our choice of place has been a good one, aside from the fact that my Mom wants "her" car back, so she can go home. The nursing home has initiated a series of medical and psychological checks for both, which will put an end to THAT discussion, as my Mom´s license will be revoked. I will be appointed as their custodian by a court ruling, improving my legal position vs. my brother. Things are on the right track now. If I only could sit back and relax! I am all tensed up and don´t find a way to wind down. I wish Petra and I could have a break - something like a weak up in the mountains, sunshine, good food - far away from the daily challenges.

I do hope that I find the energy to start some MRRing again.

The sunny spell is over, but temperatures are on the rise again. Last night, we had -2F, but the prediction says it´s going to be in the mid 40´s by the weekend. Spring is here to come?

Have a good day!

Weather wise, it's a surprise getting up in the mornings around here it seems. Sunday we were railfanning in the mis-sixties. Yesterday it was around 40 and very cloudy.  last night night it dropped into the mid-twenties and woke up this morning to white covered lawns. It's been like a yo-yo for some time now. Wish it would settle into a season and just stay there. Don't know how to dress for the day anymore.

Yesterday we took the car back to the dealer for its annual state inspection and annual state emissions inspection. I'm charged for the emissions inspection ($36.00), but one of the perks this dealer has when you purchase a new car from them is a free annual inspection. That's about $36.00 I think. Everything was fine and we were out the door in about 45 minutes. Oh yeah, they washed the car for free as well. The service dept. is just great and one of the reasons I didn't even bother to go anywhere else when we decided to trade in last year.

Should be a busy day today. Got 3 loads of wash done, 1 load done in the dryer with 2 to go, about 5 pair of pants to press off and then get the living room cleaned. Well, got to get going, hope everyone has a good one.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Organic Flax Plus Raisin Bran cereal with skim milk and lots of dark roast coffee in my FGLK mug please...

Barry,  please keep the flaky white stuff over your way as right now there is a certain brightness outside shining ion the large windows in the dining room here at my house.  The weather people say THAT should change by noontime and be replaced by an hour or so of the liquid variety and lots of clouds.  Then the yellow thing may again appear for a bit later this afternoon.

Hey Tom!  In PA do folks driving a Tesla or Leaf still have to pay for the emissions inspection?  Just wondering...Whistling  I hear there are some states that do make EV's have the emissions certificate and the owners have to pay for it.

I may actually start some Spring Cleaning today.  Then again I may decide to procrastinate a while longer....  Maybe even work on the layout...?  Who knows?

Have a great day out there!

My Mom had the same issue with her Boston Terrier. He'd come up the stairs but not down. I ended up putting a carpet runner down the stairs and the problem was solved.
