Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a bowl of organic raisin bran cereal and a couple cups of dark roast this morning, I guess.

Sitting here waiting for a call from the vets to see what we do next with little Blackie...

Gary, get yourself to your school counseling office!  They can help you or at least point you in the right direction.  Don't wait.  You will be glad you did.

Ulrich, resigned?  Are you talking about your parents or the repair shop?  Whichever, hope it works out soon!

Today is dark and gloomy here in the Finger Lakes, but I still am hopeful the big yellow orb will show up today.

Catch you all later!

Ray - I mean my parents. They both somehow realize, that the final chapter in their book of life has now started. They are very depressed, which makes me sad. There are so many folks worse off than they are, who can still enjoy life. There is no reason for them to be depressed. The place is really nice, the folks there are nice and helpful, there are lots of things they can do, if they want to. The food is not only good, but great - a better place for them is hard to find! I wish I could cheer them up a little bit, but I can´t I don´t want them to take me down, either, so I have to stay clear of them as much as possible. But how to?

Burlington Northern #24

the more and more I think about the recent events and other things that have happened just makes me that much more bitter, I feel like I get scrutinized for every little thing at work, at home, at school. I can't even set my trains up and run them. My trains are literally one of my few escapes from the world, I'm afraid that one day I may explode or implode because I've pent up so much stress, anger, and generally other unhealthy habits/ feelings.

maybe I'm overthinking it but it just feels like there's no more point to any of this.

Hello Gary .... My 2 cents. My 2 Cents ( to coin a phrase). ..... First of all, we Diners care about each other, and each of us cares about you. I'm sad for you if things make you bitter. I hope you can somehow put things in perspective. ....  If a person you know is being unfairly critical of how you do things, I suggest you think about it. More than likely, it is more their problem than yours. Perhaps, you can simply level with them, and say you are doing your best and you think their comments are not fair to you. Ask them how you can improve the situation. That should break the ice to a constructive conversation to resolve issues.  ..... You can reflect on yourself too. Maybe you can find ways to believe a situation does not matter very much ...... Remember this statement: "If there is a difference that makes no difference, then there is no difference. " ..... I'm glad you say your trains are one of your few escapes. I certainly can relate to that. I too, have had rough periods in my life and have experienced depression when that happened. My hobby has been essential for "sanity breaks" during rough periods ....... I think you can build on your hobby as a source of "sanity breaks" for you. .... You have acquired some very nice trains, and I am happy for you for your doing so.  That said, be aware of the "Law of diminishing returns". Possibly, each new model locomotive brings less joy than the one before. So, think this over. Model Railroading brings satisfaction more often when you build things than when you own things. .... I suggest, you think of a model railroad project where you are making things. My suggestion is to make a diorama. Maybe, you can research a location on the Burlington Northern to model. There are many possibilities. (A locomotive service facility; a passenger depot; an industry; a scenic location; and so on). Study the project and plan how you will make it. If you need advice on how to build it, you can find it in the MR forum or with friends who are model railroaders. ...... Next suggestion. Consider participating in a church activity. Active Christians can be happy people who feel good about what they are doing with church activities. If you do not have a church home, you can talk with clergy at local churches. Try attending their churches on Sunday. You will be welcome. ....... FInally. I complement you for saying what you did to initiate this conversation. That was a giant step forward. Make friends with other forum members. Perhaps, there are some young model railroaders here who share some of your feelings, and maybe you can help them as they help you. ....... Happy Model Railroading!

Galaxy .... Praying for you and Mrs. Galaxy. I suggest you stay active with the hobby, too. It need not be expensive. I suggest you find a little project to make, and then make it.

Ulrich ..... I think your parents will make friends and become less gloomy. They will eventually thank you for moving them.

Cheers, everybody

Strong Italian Roast coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Darren, finally watched the Alaska vid. Like the view from Hurricane Gulch!

Picked up some pretty cool looking weathered buildings on the-bay. Will study them for doing the few kits and other structures I have sitting on the new project table (living room coffee table...Whistling).

I hear a distant train running through Fairmount as I type. I always enjoy that.

Healing thoughts for those in need.

V8Vega
It has the same motor and trans as my Fiero and is downright fast for a V6

Well now, another crazy model railroader who has a Fiero Big Smile I have owned 2 of them in the past 15 years. The first one was a 4 banger which was ok but had lots wrong with it. Kept it for a year, did some fixing and then sold it and bought a newer one, a GT this time and had a hoot with it. Had to put new headers on that one since they leaked like a sieve. Whoever owed it before me had tried to take the pollution controls off of it and had sort of fouled things up a bit. It also had a grounding fault that came and went. Kept it for a couple of years and then sold it because I was rather broke at the time. They were fun cars! Now I have a Silly old fella car that is my dream car. 97 Fire bird Grand Am Convertible  never winter driven that is MINT. Only 74,000 km on it too. Love it. In a month and a half or so, I'll be able to take it out of storage and start driving it till Mid Oct again.

Cheers

Thanks for the support guys I'm feeling a little less bitter and angry at the world, I suppose on the math front I can do all of my homework that is currently sitting on the needs to be done list.

I try to be as thankful as I can, about the stuff I do have. As for what I can do for modeling the BN well, I'm going to try and place part of the BN Seattle Subdivision, and the.... well I can't remember for the life of me what the former SP&S main was called. I was a seperate subdivision that's split by a wye.

Coffee top off, please.

***Gary, really enjoyed that video. Lived in WA state for about a dozen years and most of that time had tracks running behind my apt. with assorted small to mid sized BN locos pulling various gondolas and hoppers. Love the color scheme, along with the shiny newer BNSF beasts.

Can't get the photobucket links to work, or I would show y'all what I picked up. Oh well.

thanks, yeah I haven't gotten very far in it. but the same poster who put this and it's second part up also has a 4 part piece on the GN. I wish I could have seen more BN.

I honestly feel that when they merged with ATSF it should've gone two ways 1. the whole thing becomes BN, no SF just a couple warbonnets with BN reporting marks. 2. they could've kept seperate roadnames and numbers but operated as business partners with trackage rights to each.

But that's just my thoughts on it either way atleast there's still some green around, I intend on taking my new camera(once it get's here) and catching those cascade green beauties sitting in the rail terminal.

well refocused my issues into installing some rapido lighting kit's into a Kato BN passenger car set (both 6 & 4) took some modifying to the cars but they look good. I was also reading my "Burlington Northern Diesel Locomotives" book. good stuff apparently the BN held onto some SP&S Alco FA's, F units weren't very popular with crews in fact they were regarded as being little better than steam engines, even had some NP RS1's, E7's never survived past the BN's first year, ad BN 9919, 9920 were picked by the BN to be exec. units. I'll start from the beginning, I haven't read a book in a while.

Im heading to the hobby shop tomorrow to pick up a few cans of dullcote and have a look around. I have a walthers list that I have to bring him also.

here's an interesting video:

Video Of The Day: Transmongolian And Transsiberian Train Trip

http://vimeo.com/factoria/transmongolian

Ingnore the background "music" though, if you like.

Wel,

we finally got the SNAP letter award. Very little,The minimum we are allowed, even for the two of us, but it assumes MOH is getting umenjoymnet that MOH is now NOT getting. I have to call about the "medical expense" allowance as they list it as about 1/4 of what I really pay per month, though they only "allow" a few dollars for THAT expense,so it may not matter. I went today to turn in the denial letter of unenjoyment for MOH so SNAP should increase for the two of us.

They also don't take into consideration one {or the two of us} has in reality more bills than they allow for and I don't know what the going rate allowed for food costs per person is supposed to be now. Alls I know is I got $125/month in the mid 90s while awaiting my SSD to be processed as a single person. WE as a couple now, get WELL BELOW that, and I guarantee you food costs have gone up.Its NOT like it used to be, that is for sure.

i also went to the bank and CU to adjust/juggle some funds around so the total amount of unenjoyment already paid is available for seizure without incurring a negative balance fee from the bank. Don't need that on top of things.

I stopped to drop off clothes we have no need for a the Salvation Army thrift store.

I also had to go to the pharmacy. It cost MORE than my allowable expense for medication copays for the entire month of march. Dunno where the balance is going to come from.

I went to my fathers, he is fine and has his own problems. He was complaining that with the furnace on 74* he was always cold even in a sweater and flannel shirt and tshirt. I told him we haven't budged the thermostat over 61* the past few weeks as we can't afford it. The trailer has warmed up to 69* with the outside temps near or at 50F of late, but it will warm up to 80-85* when the spring really starts and we start seeing SUN again. We have to avoid using the A/Cs as much as possible. I will roast then, but even then, my feet will be cold. The warmth of 69 still felt chilly though, as the ground under us is still COLD and it seeps up.

Well, we have some more errands to do tomorrow and MOH has an application to put in. I have to help redraft a good resume for MOH, I am better at such than MOH is. Maybe that will get MOH a cheap job, but it will be  a job.has to work at least 20 hours to bring home the unenjoyment was getting. Then we will be back to minimal SNAP.

WEll, enough of that.

KEN- have you found a house to move to? or are you still persuing options to keep the house?

Have a GREAT evening everyone.

ANY such profiles that MAY exist about us are totally BOGUS and with no active profile up, NO ONE can maniplulate our active profile and post bad things about us without our consent.

Went down to my fathers place today and mowed what is now my nieces yard. The new tractor works very well but due to it's cutting width there's a few places it can't get into. That four extra inches makes a big difference. For long time when I was using the Peerless I had two different size decks I could use depending on my needs, forty-two inch and sixty inch. The sixty inch deck rusted out a few years ago so I was limited to the forty-two inch deck. The Murray has a forty-six inch deck and no way will the smaller deck fit it so I'm stuck with the forty-six. Well if somebody wants those places cut they can whip out the weed eater or get a new new battery for the Yardman and use it's forty-two inch deck to cut those places. I don't think they'll complain. Those places add up to a whopping twenty-two square feet.

Afterward my father and I went to Wal-Mart where he picked up some items for himself and a 48oz bottle of Crisco Oil for me. We came back to his place and had Hot Pockets, watermelon and root beer for dinner.

Not much done on the layout today. It's still a mess. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, it's time i shut this mess down and call it a night.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right now...

Jeffrey.....  Mowing lawn???  Not yet around here!  We usually have to wait until all the snow melts! Whistling  And there ain't much left out there tonight.

I finally got tired of waiting for the vet to call me back today.  Know she gets busy on Monday's over there, but since I needed another bag of the Rx cat food I drove over.  The receptionist told me to wait as she wanted to see if the vet was available, and sure enough the lady vet comes out with a grin and say's, I was just picking up the phone to call you."  She has kept Blackie on the pills as she says he is doing well but was concerned about his vomiting.  Her idea was the same as mine which is to not give him his canned food ion the evening when he gets his second dose of meds for the day.  I gave him his meds tonight, but gave him his canned food earlier.  So far, so good.

Managed to spend about a half hour in the train room tonight.  Got the plaster painted earth color, and added a few bushes in the sceniced area.  I also did some research today on old fashioned wooden fences for a pasture there.

Today was a totally sunless one.  Solar panels made all of 3.2 kWh of power...  Whoopee!  Good news is that in the first 10 days of March they kicked out more power than the entire month of January!  Temp did get up into the 50's here today though so not much heat needed.

Prayers for all in need!

Gary, I learned a few years ago to Stay Off Faces Book! When I joined it was to chat with the folks I worked with. In my profile I talked about Trains and my Old HP Mopars. Then with the help of my daughter my wife joined Faces Book and they looked me up. Silly old me did not list the fact I was married! My wife blew me so much stuff and accused me of trying to meet women on line my eyes crossed and started to bleeding out the ears!   Bang Head

Then to make things even better, a old girl friend my wife knew about and meet, wanted to be become friends! I have never been back and I am not going back to Faces Book!

It gets even better! My wife now active on Face Book looked up a old couple that we where friends with when we where in our Mid 20's. Reason I stop seeing them is the Husband approached me about swapping and I do not mean cars! Well that stopped that friendship. I never told my wife. She invites them to come visit, only the wife came. My wife now cannot understand why the other wife sent me a $100.00 for my birthday? Whistling Hum

 Later, Ken

And a fine good morning it is...

As our rivers/creeks/streams have awoken to the sound of rushing high waters from all the dang runoff and rain we got yesterday ...sheeesh. The ground around here is so saturated that we squish and leave footprints in the mud around hereWhistling

...and we are now headed back towards good old winter...for another winter week....Grumpy

Can you tell  I'm awake? I had to create another channel for our backyard lake to escape...again...in the middle of the downpour...as it got into our basement via one of our window wells....sighSigh

So, today I will be checking the neighbourhood out as it will only be  40% chance for anything to fall out'n the skies....Huh?

Also have stuff to do on the railroad itself so I can set that bridge I been tryin to for what, a year now seems.  I doubt I will get any choo choo time tomorrow as that day is fillin up fast too.

Maybe I’ll take the advice from Missy and just go back to bed. Her morning schedule is Wake up, get a drink, potty, get another drink, a snack, another drink…….nap. W**king like a dog, (shakes head) w**king like a dog.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Jeffrey.....  Mowing lawn???  Not yet around here!  We usually have to wait until all the snow melts! Whistling  And there ain't much left out there tonight.

Yep! At times here there's no break and the mowing continues all year. In fact last year was one of the few that I didn't have to mow at Christmas or New Years. This is the first mowing this year though and the grass was already thick. I gave it a close cut to get rid of the dead part on top. In the back yard the clippings made a mat three to four inches thick. I wind-rowed the clippings down the yard into the lake. Some people are surprised there can be a lush green lawn under all that brown and gray stuff that was on top. This new tractor gives the same kind of cut the little Yardman riding mower does. Cock-eyed! It seems no matter what's done one side of the deck is ALWAYS lower than the other. One of my relatives, I don't know which, has already used the tractor to move some debris and I'd bet that he/she used the deck as a step.

Good morning. It's 35° with 99% humidity. The high will be 68°.

Bright sunshine today with a 5 mph north wind. We'll see. Yesterday the weather guesser had said it would be 60+ with a 10 mph north wind. It never got above 54 and that wind coming off the lake was a lot faster than 10 mph. More like 25!

Today I'll try again to get the layout cleaned up. I did part of it yesterday but as usual other more important things got in the way. I'll probably do some movie watching too. My arms are aching a bit after wrestling that tractor all over 5.5 acres yesterday. I gotta get used to that again.

I've also been badly remiss in my loco patching. I have several locos that need something done in that regard, one of them adorned with a Union Pacific. That has to change. I just need to decide what color to mask it out with.

Good Afternoon!

Went to see my parents this morning to do some paperwork for them. I got everything done, but the stay was not a pleasant one. My Mom accuses Petra and me of stealing things from her, we´d "plunder" the house etc. etc. I know she is ill, but enough is enough. I am not going to call them for a looong time - they can call me, should they need something, but I won´t be calling them - period!

Not a hello nor a little thank you - or am I expecting too much?
