Spectrum SP GS-4: Is it true?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, July 18, 2004 1:50 PM
Is Bachmann really "Spectrumizing" it's GS-4 models as we speak? If anyone has any info on this, post it here.

Thanks![8D]

Interesting! I guess like almost everything else it's being made in China.

I'm suprised that BLI hasn't jumped on this one as while the GS4 was owned by one road it is still a very popular steamer. Plus it appeared in the "American Freedom Train" scheme as well.

Will this unit be sound equipped? If not, the new Soundtraxx Tsuanmi decoder for the GS4 has the Whistle and the horn for the GS4.

Don't worry guys. 2005 will be here before you know it! Hopefully the manufacturer wants to make sure that they "do it right".

AJ, where'd you hear the Summer of 2005? All American Trains still shows it as the original push back date - the end of this year. Did you hear an update from Seattle or something? I'm anxiously awaiting for Bachman to make this in Spectrum like the way the upgraded the J's so beautifully to Spectrum. I doubt BLI will touch the GS-4 with Bachman so close to delivering the upgraded version.

...hoping it wasn't pushed out further still,
Greg

I think it was "the Bach-man", the moderator on the Bachmann website message boards.

If you expect the SP Spectrum to run better than the present model, I am sure it will run better.
I purchased the new N&W J last year expected it to be great and it looks good, but runs only fair. It would have been acceptable ten years ago, but today so many good steam engines are available now at fairly low prices, and most run very well.

Look and run the model before you buy!!!!!!!!! If you handpick a model, you might find one that runs well.
