TO much rain
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, June 19, 2004 4:54 AM
I posted this in the Toy train forum also. I have a little dampness in a corner of my basement. I have a dehumidifier and a airconditioner to keep the room at a steady 70 degrees. I have a fan blowing on the damp area on high, and i can use lysol to kill any mold. ANy other suggestions for this problem. My trains are 5 feet above the floor, and the weather has been extreme here (over 6 inches in a week)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bill

Hello Bill,
for tips on this you could visit the coffeeshop: http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=17&TOPIC_ID=15409
starting around page 17 Noah Hofrichter asked for advice about a similar issue, and the coffee crew had some helpfull suggestions on the following pages

hope this helps

"And a River Ran Through It" was my first house, After he previous home owners told me the basement didn't leak I found out the hard way that it wasn't so, two weeks after the deal was sealed and we moved in. What I did was did down to the weeping tile, chip out the loose conrete, used a masonry adhesive and filled up the holes with cement. I then tarred the wall and covered it with tar paper. No more babbling brook in the basement. This took me about five days from start to finish.

Hopefully you won't have to go to this extreme.

THanks for all the nice advice. Thankfully it all dried out in one night witha fan and dehumidifier running full time on it. It is dry to the touch, so i think i solved the problem and everything will be fine. Since i was not looking forward to ripping out a years worth of work, this will make my life a bit easier. LOL

... better than a septic flood.

we had a pretty wet June out here, but BC still needs the rain - summer's not looking so good at present re foreest fires. I'm requesting rain everyday between 12 midnight and 6 am - then everyone's happy.

cheers, krump

Gee; Only 15 inches in two months. Try 15 inches in 1 1/2 weeks! My north hay field looked like the Brazos River.

You're telling me, it's been WAY to hot lately, I can't get to sleep until about 11pm or so because it is just TOO HOT.

I hear parts of the interior were up to 40C! Wow.

I think we hit 39 today - yikes. fire in Lilloett is the big concern - so far water levels are low, burning bans are on but no fire in my neighbourhood
