Other than building a long ramp, there are several ways:

Search the threads for:
helix
switchback
elevator
cassette

The first two require space, the last two require some imagination.

How much space do you have?

If you've got a decent sized basement, I'd suggest either building a helix to get from one level to the other, or create a layout that corkscrews around the walls, eliminating the need for a helix (this sort of layout is called a NOLIX). Do a search in the forum archives for MANY discussions on both sorts of layouts.

If space is tight, build one level above the other, and move the trains from one level to the other with either a transfer table of elevator. Elevators take a lot of work to build properly, but automate the process of moving the train.

I scratchbuilt my n-scale double-track helix in a weekend with roadbed and flextrack layed but I'll never do it again. Not only was it frustrating- but I built the complete helix first and then layed the track. After smoothing out a couple of glitches with the dremel I was amazed how well it worked. It is an economical solution taking up little space but next time I'll do something different(?)
