Jonathon, you probably want that MT-73 coming, right? There is still time. Be very careful, save your money and you can get one. You may have to sacrafice buying other things or going certain places to build up your money.

Well, not every model is perfect. Even BLI's can have small defects. Look on the brightside, at least YOU have one! [8D][:)][;)][:P][:D][^]

Good advice, Guys ! I think I'll try Antonio's suggestion first... it sounds like it had the least risk to it.

Thanks again....

Hi, I do not own one of these units but that light leakage around the number borads was mentioned when MR reviewed the unit a few issues back. They recommended some sort of masking, (black paint, etc.) llike the other posters mentioned. It is definitely "a BLI thing" [:D]

Hey guys,[:)]

Try applying a gray or black sealer from inside the body. Small tubes are available at your local Home Depot type stores. If you use silicone based material, it's very easy to peel off if you get "sloppy" with it and won't damage the paint if some should leak outside. [;)]

If you choose body putty, you might consider applying masking tape strips to the outside just in case some should happen to "ooze through" the sides of the number boards.

Don't forget to E-mail Broadway and let them know about this problem. Tell your LHS rep to do the same. As stated on another thread, if enough customers complain Model Manufacturers will make the efffort to make corrections as customers are their "bread and butter".[:0][8D][:p]

Hope this helps!

Like the last reply, I think it's a BLI thing. My CB&Q E7A has the same issue as yours and my Hudson has the same light leaks around the headlight cylinder where it meets the boiler face that Aggro's does. I thought, in the J1e's case that it might respond to a tiny nudge to seat it better, but no joy, just a fit & design issue. Both loco's have the blue-white LED's too so it's really noticeable. Having that wonderful sound lessens the anxiety about the other details.

I think BLI locomotives are just like that. My J1e and AC-5 have light "leakage". The Hudson, around the headlight on the boiler face. And the Cabforward, has it around the numberboards and the lining of the cab roof.

BLI E-7A number board.....
Posted by MudHen_462 on Thursday, April 29, 2004 10:10 PM
My new BLI E-7A has noticable "light leakage" on both sides of (both) number boards. The loco's light board has film plane over a clear plastic lens, and the black number boards are smaller than the openings, and as a result, there is a very noticeable amount of light showing through on both sides of the number board. I asked my LHS owner about it, and he checked several other BLI E-7's that he had in stock, and they had the same problem.

Has anyone else had this happen with their new E-7A's ? The unit is really a great looking and operating locomotive, otherwise.
