You want a Digitrax DH-141 Decoder with an NMRA 8 pin plug. Description is also the item number.

Bud, this ones for you! It's spelled "Decoder for Bachmann 2-6-6-2". Spelling is a challenge for all of us, at times. No offense intended!

The DN142 and DN121 are N scale decoders. They will work in an HO engine.

Digitrax makes a very dependable decoder. It might not have all the best features that you can get in a decoder. But in my opinion its the best bargain for my buck. And since I am finishing up college, that is a very important consideration.

Bud:

Consider investing in a box of periods and commas as well as a sheet of capital letters. Your prose is incoherent. I'm amazed you got the quality of responses you did.

Hey guys, give the guy a break. If you read many of my postings that I have written without going back through and making sure everything was in proper order, they look very much like Budliner's here.

I don't see anyone chewing me out for it.

Some one was giving you hassles for your spelling.

As for the Decoder, Get the decoder I told you above with the NRMA wiring harness and it will just plug right in to the locomotive.

Budliner, since you have 2 Bachmann 2-6-6-2, what do you think of them (and what price range did you pay).
The 2-6-6-2 locomotive type (which apparently wasn't named, at least no name is listed in the "Guide to North American Steam Locomotives", while types like Consolidations, Mikados, and Challengers were) is to me one of the cooler types, in no small part because it was often used in long coal drags through Eastern Coal Basins.

Sounds almost like the beast from the east, 2-6-6-6 Alley.

the USRA 2-6-6-2 Articulated Steam Locomotive was an impressive answer to industry’s need for increased efficiency and productivity. With two independently swiveling driver and truck mechanisms, this limber giant’s unique design allowed it to negotiate branchlines and tight curves while hauling larger consists than its smaller cousins in the USRA series. The popular design of this “drag engine” prompted manufacturers to produce similar locomotives well after the USRA returned control of locomotive production to the private railroad industry.
this has to be one of bachmanns best it easly negotiates the small 18's I had!(setting up 100 22's)
I will give it an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10

oh price [:p]
lets just say less than wholesale

Ken;

You need to remove the capacitors and resistors in the EMI suppression circuitry on the Bachmann circuit board, as described here:
http://www.tcsdcc.com/info/anbachman.htm
and here:
http://www.dcctrains.com/technews/loconews/bachmann-revisit.htm

Have fun.
