Best looking locomotive with a passenger consist

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the best diesel that looks good with a passenger consist is a...........GP40X! There, I said it. I don't know, there's something about a UP GP40X with armor yellow streamliner cars..........
As for steam, the FEF-3 with a solid block of armor yellows. Or maybe the GS4 with a daylight consist? Who knows........

Second, would be an Espee AC-4 with dark green heavyweights.

I personally would love to have a CPR H1b 4-6-4 or a K1a 4-8-4 with maroon heavy weight passenger cars.
For diesel, a pair of 70's era red F7A's with multimark logo's with an 18 car stainless steel "Canadian" consist for cross country. For short trips, a D&H PA with matching passenger cars for a trip through New York State.

All but the D&H consist is a dream.

A simple 4-4-0 looks the best, hands down. nothing can match the pure beauty of a flamboyantly painted 4-4-0 pulling an elogantly built and beatifuly painted set of passenger cars behind it.

Well, I can't separate the locomotive and the consist on the great passenger trains... they are a comprehensive unit.

My favorites:

The Burlington Pioneer Zephyr, and the various classic Milwaukee Road Hiawathas, which used an assortment of steam and diesel motive power over the years.

To me, a Pacific or a Hudson pulling a consist of Pulman green heavy weights with a REA express reefer or two behind the tender. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!!!

One of the later Zephyr sets with an E5, or anything with DL109s, Erie-Builts, Alco PAs or any EMD E-unit. Love those streamliners - I'm using an Athearn PA in SF warbonnet livery as motive power for my set of Walthers Superliners at the moment. Totally unprototypical, but it looks gorgeous. Hoping to find a powered PB and dummy PA in the same livery to form a typical SF lash-up now. Will have to wait and see what appears on eBay!
