I haven't been on here much lately. I'll done a lot of Trainsim stuff though and I though I would post some shots.

Enjoy!

NS freight in Wilmington, DE with 2 Dash 9s and an SW1500.

I split a switch here

A Reading & Northern U23B leads a coal train

NKP #763 at speed on a railfan "photo freight" in the desert with NKP #777, 50 empty hopper and a caboose behind it.

Most of the engines and cars are from trsin-sim.com (www.train-sim.com) were you can download tons of cool engines and cars. The desert shots are from the Cajon Pass route while the other routes came with the game.

Click on the shots to enlarge.

Dougal, I swear I'm going to leave this forum out of jealousy if you don't stop posting those simulator shots. I received the MS train sim two years ago, It wouldn't run so had to up grade with a new video card and bingo I could run trains on the putor. Just received the Trainz verson and guess what. Have to get new putor now to run it[banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead]. They tell me I haven't got enough of this and that and need more free space. I told the computor store "well, if its free then give it to me". Now, ain't that something, offer free space then laugh at ya!! [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(D]

Eriediamond,

Your situation with having to upgrade is pretty common. Especially in light of new software releases. My 2 year old Ti 4600 Geforce 4 video card with it's 128 meg of memory still runs well... however after playing Aurans 2004 trains and also Call to Duty (A military ww2 game) I will need to upgrade to the Ultra 5950 card with the 256 meg of memory. In order to run these sims and games flawlessy.

These componets for a bigger and faster computers are similar to a cost of a New Engine or several Freight cars. etc./.. Thank fully the downloads are freely given by those who created the new material.

We are approaching a year or two away from Terabyte storage for home computers. I have 200 Gig of storage now am capable of going to 800 gig but will wait until hard drive prices come down a bit.

A similar situation is also for Internet connections.. Dailup is no longer suitable for downloads or even safe broswing, We must move on to DSL or Cable etc.. They are advertising the Dailup accelerators but they do not increase file or music transfer speeds.

I remember when Lionel's Camera in a Locomotive was the star of the show. That was a blast to be able to see your layout from a scale engineer's view going down the track.

Best of Luck!

Today anyone with $20 can do the same. A skookum setup can cost up to $50. I have 3 traincams and they are a hoot

What do you do, whats the purpose of the game? Staring at a computer for days until the train reaches its location could get kinda boring right??

You just run a train. It's very challenging sometimes. It's also a lot of fun.
