greatn,

I managed to design a 2x8 shelf that crammed over 34 cars and a switcher. I pitched it after realizing it is easy to bury the switcher. =)

I dont have any passenger consists yet, been saving to get a troop train together. I recently counted about 92 freight cars and my work bench has as of today 4 ore cars, 3 Grain hopper cars, 3 tank cars and two locomotives almost completed.

I also have about 30 more to be completed as time allows. The Train meet in Pine Bluff Arkansas at first saturday of April will have many oppertunities for me to add to the roster.

Most are packed away, but I "guess-timated" I've got around 800 (and most have to be built yet!)

I have 172 cars and 36 locos and no track. Yet. Been collecting cars and locos since '89. I have an Atlas track kit on order. The excitement to patience ratio is killing me.

i plan on buying a lot of kits tomorrow at the LHS since the next show isn't until the first part of April and i don't get to the LHS to often. i hope to buy between 10-12 kits tomorrow. some stuff to start trying to weather and then buildings.
should be interesting watching my checking account get drained. good thing i get paid sunday.

In S scale I have between 50 and 75. I still have all my HO and O (just in case), some of which are getting to be collector's items. Truth is, I have more than I can use, but still keep buying them. I plan to rotate them on and off the layout.
Enjoy

I have approximately 300 freight cars, but only about ten of these have been "outshopped" ready for service, meaning that they have complete weathering, and meet standards for weight, and ride on Micro-Trains trucks & couplers. All the rest are awaiting their turn at the workbench, some needing major work (such as the hoppers I am kitbashing) and some just plain unsalvageable; I bought about two thirds of them while in high school and on a limited budget.

I keep buying more, but I reckon that this is just about the right number for my 15 ft. by 15 ft. shelf+peninsula layout.

Al told, I have around 50-60...about one-third are my dad's old stuff, non-functional and sitting in a box, one-fourth are unbuilt kits sitting under the layout, and the remainder are generally funcitonal boxcars, a couple of gons, and the odd reefer or two. Some are marked for repair but most of the rolling stock is in good order.

I'm waiting on building the rest of the rolling stock until I have the layout space for it--only one-third of my layout is built and operating, and I'd rather have it sitting in boxes unbuilt than have completed kits knocking around on the shelf getting dusty and banged about...once there is sufficient yard space for them they can sit on the layout.

I've about 60 (ready build, weighted, weathered) and ~ 200 waiting to be build & finished. That's the US collection I'll use on the modular layout of our modeltrain club.

For my home layout (and collection), German railways from 1900 to 1945, there are 360 freight cars and 210 passenger cars available.

Greeting from Germany

At last count, I have 532 freight cars and 26 passenger, with 4 more freight cars awaiting assembly. This includes about 10 cabeese (I think that's the plural of caboose).
