Greetings,

I would vote for Great Northern, Northern Pacific.

Or at least Burlington Northern.

Burlington Northern, Great Northern, and Chicago & Northwestern.

i'd really like to see something other than UP go through town everyday but that won't change for a long time.

Tough question for me.
Either AT&SF, D&H, CB&Q or NYC
The AT&SF, CB&Q & NYC I picked as they are my usual purchases when I play Rail Baron.
The D&H i just like the livery on the GP38-2's

Brought to you by the letters C.P.R. as well as D&H!

Northern Pacific
They had some wonderful Articulated's and wonderous scenery.

DAR Dominion Atlantic Railway; They had some interesting trackage and were very quaint and unique

the Newfoundland Railway, subsidiary to CN. There wasn't anything like it. I've Mountain biked some of the roadbed and it gives the word "grade" a new meaning. Rugged, plain and simply rugged. And it was narrow guage to boot

When I think of railroads of old, I always think of their passenger trains. Given that, I'd like to see the Illinois Central return (and the City of Miami); the Norfolk & Western (because of the Powhatan Arrow); the Pennsylvania (bring back the Broadway Limited!) and the Seaboard Air Line (Panama Limited). Santa Fe is a given. Who wouldn't want to see the Super Chief return??? [bow]

Most of the Fallen Flags that were around in the 1960's. Heck, the hobby's how I escape reality and create "my world", so I may as well go for broke and pick 'em all!

New York Central
Remember the 20th Century Ltd, the Southwestern, the Riley?

NYC was an innovative railroad run by railroadmen who understood that their future depended upon the industries in the NE. As they declined, so did the Central.

As mentioned before, I would also love to see NP, GN and especially BN make a comeback. I would also love to have seen the Milwaukee Road in action because I have seen many stretches of abandoned right-of-way, and can only imagine what it was like to see black and orange locos (especially those Little Joe electrics). I was born in 1984, well after the BN merger and never got to see the North Coast Limited or the Empire builder. Most of my early railfanning experiences involved BN, so I will miss those cascade green locos when theyre gone. Come to think of it, I also wouldnt mind seeing the Washington Central (washington state shortline) make a comeback. I actually miss seeing their locomotives. As a result of this, much of my modeling interest involves BN and Washington Central. Maybe sometime ill buy a couple of Milwaukee Road diesels. . . .

I'd like to see Amtrak collapse. There would be CSX acela trains, CSX Aem7 locomotives, and CSX sunset limited. out west there would be BNSF Genesis locomotives, and UP superliners. Wouldn't it be beuteful [^]

Southern Pacific. I wish it would come back to life and tear itself out of the belly of the Big Yellow Octopus.

If Amtrak goes, I think this would be the end of passenger trains in the U.S. I don't think a trans-continental un-government-funded passenger RR would make it.

I model Northern Pacific and love this line, along with many others. However, I tend to attempt to stay with reality in the here and now and truly am commited to the fact that; You can never go back! Listen, who cares about railroads, I'd like to be 30 again!

Here's another vote for the Chicago and North Western. I'd vote for the GBW, and the WC, as well.

The North Shore Line (Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee)

If the North Shore had survived until 1970, we wouldn't have had Amtrak. Instead, the North Shore Line would have taken over the passenger trains (under some sort of "Save the North Shore" law). Instead of Acela, we'd have had Electroliner 2000.
