IHC locomotives

The size of wheel flanges on this 4-4-0 is going to depend on how old it is and who manufactured it. I have two of their 4-4-0s that have different sized wheel flanges because one was manufactured by Rivarossi about 20 years ago when IHC was known as AHM, and has European deep flanges. A newer 4-4-0 with the IHC brand name has smaller flanges, but they are still larger than RP-25. The only marking on the bottom of the newer locomotive is "Made in Bosnia."

I can't speak specifically to the IHC 4-4-0, I don't own any IHC products, but take a look at www.steamlocomotive.com/ In the right hand bar look for a 'guide to HO steam locomotives'. Good for general background.

I recently observed one of the new 4-4-0's at the LHS, and the flanges are vintage IHC. The staff ran it on code 83 track (Or was it 100?) it seemed to run somewhat smootly. One surprise was a drawbar pernamently attached along with a wire to the tender for electrical pickup.

I realize this may not be exactly the information you seek, but I hope this helps.

Hi all I would like to know a few things about the IHC 440 and old time 440 has anyone out there got one or more of these loco's, the main thing I want to know is about the wheels are they RP25 profile , I use code 70 rail and don't want my loco running on the ties and ballast, the second thing is how do they run and pull. regards Keith Beattie C E O Howqua Valley RR
