Keeping count is hard...15. Loved trains..10 modelled trains...12 (Duplo) So, if trains are my life, how would you count it?

I'm 34 but it feels like 44 or older if I've been crawling around underneath the benchwork. Rob

Turned 58 earlier this month.

I can still do everything I could when I was 25, it just takes me longer to recover.[(-D]

Enjoy

52 old enough to appreciate life, young enough to enjoy it

BTW, the computer savvy argument may not be so relevant anymore. Read the other day that the fastest growing group of internet users is the over 60 crowd.

As old as my gums and a little older than my teeth.
I think that makes me 38.

57 here and recently retired. This is my first train endeavor since I was 10. It was/is an American Flyer set I got for Christmas in 1957. Oddly enough, my wife bought for me an Ahtearn set last Christmas which was supposedly going to be an addition to our Christmas tree display. Of course it has taken on a life of it's own and it was the impetus to build (someday) a layout. I am to the point where I am ready to begin constructing the benchwork and I plan to post photos of the work as it progresses. So far I have enough track, buildings and figures to begin the final plans. This forum has been very helpful and I thank you all for your expertise and patience.

Cheers,
Karl

When you look at the vote tally and see that about 70 votes out of 200 come from the 51 and above crowd, we're holdin' our own against the young 'uns! [:D]

According to the calendar I'm 41. There are times I feel like 60 and other times (according to the wife) act like I'm 8. Either way - I'm having a great time (after all - what good is being around if you aren't enjoy it?)

Why did you seperate 40 and 41! [:(!] Geeezzz!!!! Ok I'm still 40 till July! So I guess that's the good news! All in all though, I don't get upset anymore, I'm enjoying life with my family and my hobby![:D] One thing to point out, if any 0 to 3 year olds are submitting a topic here and knows how to spell and use the computer is a GENIUS!!! I agree with Aggro: some of the ages don't match up with the mental image I had formed. There was a saying (from a cartoon) "On the internet nobody knows you are a dog". Likewise nobody knws if you are 12 years old so long as you think and communicate like an adult.

Me, I'm 46.

Am a 18 year old trapped in a 51 year old body. I agree with brothaslide that the poll is a little biased because there aren't many of us older guys who are computer savvy. I had to learn for work otherwise I wouldn't be on here. But there is a ton of info on here and it is refreshing to see so many younger guys on here that are going to keep this hobby going. My question would be, How come I never see any of the younger guys in the shops, just a bunch of us old farts arguing the difference between Polyscale and Floquil?

55 calendar years.
15 mental years.
90 physical years.(thought I was indestructable when I was young, found out I was wrong. If I'd had any idea I was gonn'a live this long, I'da probably took better care of myself. ....naw! had too much fun!!!)

26, and the poll results give me a lot of hope for the hobby. Admittedly, they're skewed by the age gradient of net connected individuals, but still...

Movin ever closer to 68 and I still have great memories of my last year of high school, '56-'57 working graveyard shift oiling freights in West Oakland's Desert Yard when it still had the flyover to the Army Base. Yes, Oakland had three yards. The main yard was West Oakland, Across from 16th St. Station was the Desert yard, and a small sorting yard at East Oakland (5th ave to 14th ave.) And as a plus the WP yard was across Middle Harbor Road from the SP's RIP track, so we saw the "Wobbly" (CA Zephyr) go out every day when I worked RIP in '58 as an apprentice car whacker. Also the piggybacks were out at Davis Street in San Leandro and we sometimes had to go take a rig out there and do some cutting/welding on them. The good ol' days, eh?
