Good morning. ..... I'll have coffe and an apple turnover, please.

I could not have cared less about the football game and did not spend any time watching it.

Galaxy .... Great job starting the February thread. Keep your chin up. You are good person.

Ulrich ... Bad weather? Is it January over there, too?

JohnBoy .... WHen is your next appointment? I hope your situation is improving.

Evidently, my experiment with making a movie did not work well. One comment from WPF was it could not be watched due to a problem with the receiving computer.

Happy Model Railroading !

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and Huevos Rancheros please. Thanks.

Opted to watch a Danny Trejo movie instead of the Football game. I did manage to catch the last quarter AND like a NASCAR race, the last part is all I need to see. Didn't care really who won so I probably will forget by this afternoon. If the Texans aren't in it....it's not worth watching.Whistling Laugh Oh and Ray called it! The winner did have the most points. The guy never ceases to amaze me.Laugh

Not much to report since last time. This week won’t be any better. Gotta work every night until Sunday except tonight. Well, not Wednesday either but that’s a Church meeting so I’m still occupied in the evening.Sigh

No Ray, I wouldn’t drive the trip to Alaska in the winter either. It’s manageable if you drive slow with the conditions and are willing to stop and ride out a storm, something I'm sure you are used to and would do, but I wouldn’t want to. Maybe go part way and turn around to go home if you want to see the mountains in the winter as that is beautiful.

Rob, I guess she did enjoy the scenery for a few minutes at a time here and there, slept and then woke to wonder why they hadn’t made it farther. She’s also a spoiled …..Zip it!well she’s all happy now. I can’t see her as an Army wifeHuh?. Nope.

Garry- Nice video!

Et tu Mr B?... Et tu? You know I expect those little plays on words from Ray and Garry but…..Wink(no one is here so I don’t have to admit I chuckled at every one.)

Still hung up on the era thing for the layoutSigh. Maybe that’s why I have a lot of desire, but not much gumshun to do anything. Kinda like Ulrich. I really want to be in the ‘70’s, but kinda like the current which I have stuff for, but for the 70's too. Like Ulrich I just don’t wanna spend more money on things I really may not be happy with. I know just what you’re going through Ulrich. I’m going through it as well. Well, trainwise.

Welp, gotta get to the Church and do the books. Then….who knows. There is something I have to do but can’t think of it know ConfusedHmm. It’s cold out so maybe I’ll just go to the trainroom and do some straightening up.

I’ve said it before so I don’t need to really say it again, but I feel sometimes folks just need a bit of reminding. I may not say it, but each and every one of you are in my thoughts and prayers for whatever your needs may be. Especially Galaxy at this time.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

"It's a Lovely day Today....."

Gooooooooood  Morning diners!

Today has been cancelled due to popular demand!  The entire Central and Western NY is closed today.  The plows have been out and left a couple foot of snow at the end of my driveway so I'm not going anywhere soon.

Zoe, good to see you made it in today...  I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes, a couple sausage links, and lots of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee in my FGLK Mug this morning.  I'll be sitting in the front booth looking at the white STUFF coming down outside.

Galaxy, will keep you in my prayers......

My sister is most likely stuck in Newark, NJ (serves her right for taking a trip this time of year).  Haven't heard a thing from her yet, but I found her plane did arrive safely there.  There are no flights in or out of Rochester, NY at the moment.  Will be stuck here near the phone until I find out where she is and what is going on.  No way I am driving today....  Lots of them Foe Wheeeeeel Draaave Pick-em-up trucks out there plowing people's drahvways so theys kin all stay home and watch the idiot box to know it is still snowing outside though.  Of course the snow doesn't slow down those 4-wheel drive guys.  They can drive 3 times as fast as normal 'cause they is ta only guys on duh road, and they gots, a foe wheeeeeel drahve.  They kin go anywhere....  Several have been flying down the street at 50 or more mph.  Just gotta make $$$ before the snow stops you know.

So, I see sumpin' happened at some game last night?  I guess somebody won and sombody lost after passing something to the other team....??? Whistling

I got cabin fever already and it's only 9:30 here in the Finger Lakes.  Did I mention the sn*w is still coming down....  Oh, I did!

Later!

Todd .... Good to see you. ... Thanks for commenting on the video. .... As far as I know you are the only one who watched it. ... I propably could do another, and try to make improvements, but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort.

Ray ... I hope your sister gets home okay.

We don't have snow here. It was a cold rain yesterday.

Ray ... I hope your sister gets home okay.

I have heard from my lost sister.....  She called to tell me she is trying to get a flight from where she is (the worse airport in the universe she says...  Philadelphia maybe?) to Rochester.  I doubt that is going to happen as most all flights are cancelled or delayed, but they have had one flight arrive this morning....  If she does make it to Rochester, she will not be happy to find out I can't find my car...  I think it is under the big pile of white STUFF near the steps to the deck.  The plowed in STUFF at the end of the driveway is over 30" deep, and there is around 18" going from the deck to the street...  At the moment I can barely see the homes across the street as the Stuff has sarted falling again!  There is a 17mph wind as well.  'taint no way I'm driving to Rochester today!!!  I did get a small path blown out to the street and will work on the drive from time to time this afternoon.  Oh, when my sister called I was washing up and getting dressed so I never heard the phone.  Normal around here.

Extra strong coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

My sister didn't realize I had completely switched from N to HO scale and said she would send me her HO trains. I don't remember what all she has, but I am sure they have horn couplers and are DC. There is 1 loco she has which I would love to have. It is a little Hersheys chocolate (diesel) locomotive that I gave her one Christmas (a gazillion years ago) that I have never so much as found a pic of anywhere online. Perhaps a short term promotional loco?

Congrats to the Patriots. Was an exciting finish, even though my Seahawks lost.

Have a terrific day, all.

Healing thoughts for those in need.

Cheers! Rob

Good, uh, afternoon.  I'm still basking in the afterglow of Patriot victory.  Not sure about where the Patriots are.  We've got the same weather as Ray, and Flightaware is saying that Boston's Logan airport is experiencing ground-hold delays at the point of origin of 3-4 hours.

Flightaware is fun.  Right now, I can see an Airbus A330-300 running racetrack loops off the coast, inbound to Boston from Amsterdam.  Other than that, very little traffic at all.  There's nothing in the air around Rochester, while Philadelphia and Newark have some traffic.

And Ray, she'll have to be more specific on that "worst airport" call.  LaGuardia, JFK, Newark and Philadelphia all make the bottom 6 for the US of A.  They pale, though, in comparison to this review of N’Djamena International Airport in the African country of Chad:

“The hard plastic bucket seats precluded any attempts to sleep in this airport. The one toilet that did work was filthy from people washing their feet in the toilet bowl. There were also muddy foot prints on the toilet seat from patrons who apparently prefer the squat type system. Aside from the muddy tracks all around the departure lounge (from the foot washing guys) there was also garbage strewn all over the place.”

I think I'll pour another cup of coffee and then look for some Tichy truck frames I've got somewhere.  I replaced all the plastic wheelsets on my MOW train last week, and now some of the cars are misbehaving.  They've got crummy metal trucks, so I should probably upgrade those, too.  I painted and weathered all of those trucks at once when I bought them, so this is a project that won't require any spraying activity on this shut-in day.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Mr. B, I ALWAYS wash my feet in the toilet bowl in any filthy public place, don't you? It's more sanitary that way!

ANd since I don't want to "sit" on the toilet seat for fear of germs, I too, stand on the seat cover and squat...though usually i have dirty filthy shoes on... covered in muck and mud and snow debris.

P.S> I think MOH took the heavy duty pill to "get away from me" by sleeping it off for those 13-15 hours it takes.Hence the reference...good way to deal with more face-to-face contact, but at least I will know where MOH is! GRR. I should shut up now.

V8Vega

Mon. 75/50  Tue. 75/50 Wed. 76/48 You have to be willing to live under the worst goverment the world has ever known to enjoy this weather.

. With a big TV and couches, one guy has football posters on the walls, they leave the garage door open, to cold for me.

I would KILL for that weather right now, V8, no matter how bad you think your weather is, someone elses is WORSE.

I'd kill to have a garage,

Then I'd kill to leave it open on a 75+ degree F day in the dead of February!

TOO COLD? tomorrow it will be -2 when we get up in the morning AMBIENT temp F. WInd chill will be like -30F. Thursady it will be -10 F AMBIENT when we wake up and -40F wind chill { you don't know what that is, do you?} Step into a walk in reezer, my friend, it will be WARMER in there than it is out here.

AND, someone, LIKE the LION, in the Dakotas {?} will wake up to -40 AMBIENT F on thursday.

ANd we say 'my, its a bit chilly today"!

its all relative...

Good evening Diners,

Flo, a plate of macaroni and cheese with grilled beef hot dog slices in it with my usual gigante cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.  Yummm!

One can only eat that cholesterol rush once or twice a year!

Tinkered a little with the SCARM software that I downloaded the other day.  I'm trying to reproduce the last layout that I had in high school, which was on a 4x6 sheet of plywood.  I really liked that layout.  I doubt that I would try to rebuild it though, even if I had the space.  I'll discover the liabilities of this software soon enough, and I've already found one.  It will not generate dwg nor dxf files, but will  only generate bit maps and jpg files to export.

Galaxy: I don't have words for your situation other than it is so heart wrenching to see it happen to anyone because a lot of of us have been there to some degree or other, and there's not a thing any of us can do to help except pray.

oh, for those of you who live in the frozen north, I will tell you that when you live in a warm place like So Cal, your blood thins out and 50F is truly ski jacket weather.

Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Ray- I only wrote the truth. Your pictures proved it.

Thank you my friend!  I assume you are talking about my post across the street...  I have only been active in the WPF over there for several years now, but I see several familiar faces that have gone missing from this side of the street in the diner.  I may post over their more often as I see the people who drove me away from the place are no longer anywhere to be found.....

Janie, I sure could use a hot cup of decaf right now.

I was waiting for my sister to call me from her hotel in Rochester when the phone rang...  It was her home phone!  Yep she made it home tonight.  She had already made arrangements to spend a small fortune for a room at anearby hotel and had waited for a couple hours for the bus to pick her up.  She called over to the hotel again and they said their was a problem with the bus so they called a taxi to piuck her up and it should be over soon.  Another hour she calls them back to ask where the .......  the taxi is.  At that moment one of the gentlemen who helps people with baggage comes over and asks if she is waiting for a taxi.  He escorted her to the two taxis wiating outside and checks to see which one was for her.  Turns out the taxidriver is Indian (as in from India).  He is a Sikh who has emigrated to America.  He took her to the hotel and of course she told him where she had been....  He wanted to know where in India she was.  Turns out it was near where his family came from.  He ended up saving here over a hundred dollars and drove her home to Canandaigua for a little of nothing!  By the time she called me little Claude the kittie was bugging her for attention like crazy!  I think he missed her...

Due to some family medical stuff (Son's little niece has to go back into Strong Hospital for adjusting her food again) so tomorrow I will meeting the Granddaughters when they get off the bus as both mom and dad have to work and grandma is watching her grandson so her other daughter can stay at Strong with Lexie.  I will be needed on Wednesday as well.  After several phone calls I think we have it all figured out.

Weather has calmed down finally.  Currently 11°F on it's way down to -1°F overnight.  Need to bring in more wood and restock the stove before bed.  Did a little ballasting work down cellar tonight.

Stay safe and warm!

Mint tea, please and thank you.

Compared to some, tonights temp of 23F doesn't sound too bad. Plenty cold enough for me though. Fired up the wood stove and will retire to bed and watch some model train layout vids (via youtube) on the flat screen.

Have a good night all.

Hello Railfans! Top of the evening to you! Flo - my usual please.

In General - Hope everyone is doing ok today. I see from the storm fallout out and the Superbowl fallout.... some are reeling it, and others are feeling it.

Well, last couple days i havent been feeling it all that goodly myself. Kinda in a fog. Well, more so that you folks are used to seeing. Kinda off my feet. You know the feeling... like being a pair of brown shoes in an all tuxedo world.

For those with their nose to the wind, we had alot of that today - wind. Pushing around some pretty cold air. Must admit it was a pretty sunny though. oh yay Grumpy

I watched the radar last night as the storm went through. I love watching the 'hole in the sky' open up over where i live. its like we have a dome shield against weather. As I checked all night long, the storm passed with a huge, clear, swath which was wide open while everywhere else was getting pelted. What did I ever do to anger the storm gods?

RR Front - Nadda. Was looking forward to an evening of more coupler work. I needed a few things first. The store had absolutely nothing i needed, naturally. Will have to try again tomarow, different store.

So no RR Front tonight. oh yay again.

Ken - send me an email or gimme a call when ya can.

Hope you folks are feeling better tomarow! Especially those who are ailing with health issues, or just aching backs from shovelling snow.

Goodnight everyone!

Douglas

Good Morning!

I woke up to find the world to be white again. Nothing really new - it has been that way the past days, but this time it is here to stay. Temperatures have dropped to about - 6°C, which is not anywhere near as cold as some of you folks have come to enjoy, but certainly cold enough for me! Unfortunately, the road leading to the house we live in does not get cleared, so driving that short stretch turns into a gamble.

Petra and I did the week´s grocery shopping on the way back from the eye doc yesterday, so we will stay safe and warm at home for the rest of the week. I should do some bank transfers, but they will have to wait for a couple of days!

Petra´s aunt is still in the hospital and there is no improvement. She is only 76, but was diagnosed with MS 40 years ago. Anyone familiar with MS knows how bad it is in its terminal stage.

I have to start the hunt for a set of beepers which I can pay for. It´ll mean a major setback in my MRRing plans, depending on what I finally will have to pay, I´ll probably have to postpone everything until way into next year Sad

Will drop by gagain a little later!

Gidday Chloe, just a glass of ice cold lemonade please.  It’s been a long hot day and I had enough to do without a slightly unnecessary field trip thrown in. Still keeps me off the streets and out of mischief.

Heartland Division CB&Q
. As far as I know you are the only one who watched it. .

I too watched your video over in WPF Garry, a movie of the Heartland Division in action, well worth a look, thank you. Thumbs Up However having been spoilt by your excellent photos on a weekly basis, I hope you will forgive me for saying that the video needs a little polishing, not that I’m any sort of expert.
Well it’s time I hit the hay as it’s now midnight, 62 F and I’ve got another flat out day today.
Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.
Goodnight/morning, Cheers, the Bear.

We were actually civil to each other today. but you watch...MOH will be up to old tricks again and it will happen again.AND MOH took a heavy duty pain pill bfoere a nap...wannna bet I don't see mOh for hours now..like 13-15 of 'em?

Sorry to hear the roads were bad in Broome  County.  Don't shoot me, but over here in sunny (today) Tioga County, they've been plowing for the last 2-3 days -- in fact, they just went by again!  Then again, the road into our development was bad enough that they won't be hers to collect garbage till Saturday -- when we may get blasted by yet another storm.

Good morning Diners,

Flo, ill have a giant cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.

Yesterday was Ground Hog day, in which it is determined that if the ground hog see his shadow there's six more weeks of winter.  If he doesn't, there's only 42 more days.

But, we are already into February so spring is on its way.

Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

I always say regardelss of whether he sees his shadow or not, there is still 6 more weeks of winter at least.

Spring Is, indeed, coming. Wilted Flower SO is Easter...guess what? this year earlier...it si jsut April 5th this year! When it comes earlier, it can usually mean that warmer weather is also coming earlier.Paradise

But, alas, we have been known to have sn*w well after Easter, too.Sigh

No sign of Spring in my neck of the woods. It´s turning colder in the coming days, but there is hope for a little sunshine!

It´s been a rather uneventful day today. We dared to go outside and drive to the hospital for a visit to Petra´s aunt. When we arrived she was having lunch, so Petra took over feeding her. Dear auntie is to weak to hold a spoon or a cup. She did recognize us, but could hardly speak. Here eyes showed us how glad she was to see us. I am afraid she won´t be with us for much longer.

In the afternoon I had to do some paperwork, which kept me quite busy. I hope to be able to get some help for the new spectacles. There is lots of red tape involved in that, but, if successful, a time well spent.

Bedtime is coming up sonn, so I´ll just have a nightcap, Zoe. Make that hot chocolade with something in it, please!

CU tomorrow!

I threw more wood into the trash can. I was thinking about renting that big green trash bin. It would be easier to do it in one spot. Our trash can doesn't do anything, in sit the garage for a month before taking it the streets. This way it goes out every week.

Take care see you later.
