Apparantly no one has pressed the NMRA to add it to the standards and RP's. It's now too late, they'll never do it, because if they ,ake the stamdard CV8=8 then everyone who uses CV30-2 will be out of compliance, and vice versa. At best it could become an RP which changes exactly nothing as they could strongly suggest it be one or the other but the manufacturers would be free to do what they wanted. Back in the early days of setting up the required and recommended CVs, no one thought about doing a full reset automatically. Lots of old decoders have no reset option.

Rich:

That's a handy chart!

Thanks

Dave

I don't know why all decoder manufacturers don't follow the same standard.  I have several brands of decoders, NCE, Digitrax, LokSound, and Tsunami.  Some reset with CV8=8, others with CV30=2, and still others reset with either CV8=8 or CV30=2. So, I keep a copy of the NMRA chart on my work bench.

Well, I could just not give up.  As I never saw/smelled smoke, I figured there was still hope.

I had been working with a Digitrax Zephyr in the hobby room and I wasn't getting anywhere.  So I took it to the layout and worked it on the programming track with the Digitrax Super Chief and eventually got it back to default.  "O3" never looked so good!

Thanks again Randy !!!!

YIKES!

First - Thank You Randy, you are always there!

Second - I overlooked the "cv30 default" reference in the instructions.

Third - The decoder will not accept the reset.

Fourth - I have concluded I fried the decoder.

Sometimes I miss DC...................

CV30=2 should do it for NCE.
