MRC sound controller

Has anyone  had experience with the MRC sound controller for a DC layout?

No such thing as a MRC sound controller.

There is a MRC DCC system for controlling the layout.

and MRC sound decoders. There are also, non sound decoders.

Well.on the back of Railroaders magazine is an add for a MRC Tech6 sound controller for both DC and DCC and I wonder if someone has one and if it is worth buying.

I think it sells for arround 125.00 Dollars

To be honest, you'd be spending about 95 percent of the money you would spend to go DCC - and not getting the train control advantages; a bad trade-off in my opinion.  Nearly ANY DCC system can issue the sound trigger commands to any other sound decoder.  Hell, you can even run DC locomotives on a DCC equipped layout - just do so sparingly, and monitor it for overheating/damage.

If you have your heart set on it, I'd imagine it works alright - it's basically a stripped DCC system in of itself, from what I've heard and read - it uses DC power for locomotive direction and control, and sends the DCC commands for the sound by pressing the buttons.
