Place the unit on a small section of track and use Ops Mode to programme CV8 with a value of 8 via the active address "00".   Then try it again, same thing, this time using Paged Mode.  If your unit does not automatically cut track power when doing an address change in Paged Mode, do it manually, then restore power.  Try Address "03" and see if it works.

Clicks and blinks? Doesn't sound like a Digitrax decoder (although blinking headlight means there is a short in the motor output). Maybe a wire came loose or got pinched in the shell? The way the older Atlas motor leads were, they used strips of bare copper, not wires, and the one that loops around from the bottom of the motor could easily touch something, which is why when I converted one of those I cut the strip off short and soldered a piece of wire to it.

yes guys Im sure its a digitrax dh163d ,hard wired not board replacement.(orginal light board removed) ...well I call em clicks its the noise the unit makes as the motor spins during decoder read & headlight winks during decoder wright . and I was careful about the copper piece coming up from bottom of motor ,like I said ,was working fine, it went bad as I was trying to fine tune the speed matching to its sister unit that has a soundtraxx tsunami board in it so I was playing with the cvs 2,3,4,5,6 IR . decided to take it back to the computer and reload the original setting I had saved... but I think I loaded the file for the tsunami in to it bye mistake .it was at that point it was stuck in a slow speed and would not let me change settings or reset......cv 3&4 are set at 20 & 16 (the settings I have for the tsunami) they were suppose to be in the 5-6 range . any how I well pull the shell and have a look after church. thanks again for your help and patience with me ......ps I m trying to have a set of rs-3s mud together but only one with sounds (cheap skate) and didnt realize, all motor decoders are not created equil......J.W.

Are you sure that's a Digitrax decoder? If it's an Atlas/Lenz you need to write a 33 to CV8 to reset. Tryt it anyway. If that's the wrong value, it just won't take.

Do it on the main (Po on the Zephyr). Set CV8=8. Then either turn off track power or remove the loco from the track, then put it back on. Should now be address 03 with momentum and other cvs cleared.
