HI GUYS ,got a digitrax 163 that wont cooperate or reset (cv8=8) what I mean is tried reset on zephyr and decoderpro w/ pr3 but it does not reset decoder...I jacked it up when I tried to reprogram on decoder pro and I think I put the wrong decoder info in and now its stuck in ultra slow speed and wont let me change any thing , so I tried reset and that wont work ether.did all my home work digitrax site ,tonys save your decoder , only thing I haven't tried is manual reset (pull the shell and hold the reset... any Ideas please .....J.W.
oops ,its in a atlas rs3 ,ho,was working fine before triing to reprogram , (reprograming to get back to original speed setings cvs 3,4,2,5,6)
Do it on the main (Po on the Zephyr). Set CV8=8. Then either turn off track power or remove the loco from the track, then put it back on. Should now be address 03 with momentum and other cvs cleared.

thanks Randy, but no good, it just don't want to reset ,it clicks,it blinks, but it don't reset,I do have another 163 decoder to put in it ,but this one is only a couple weeks old. I cant believe it could be fryd it still works just cant reprogram ? J.W.
Are you sure that's a Digitrax decoder? If it's an Atlas/Lenz you need to write a 33 to CV8 to reset. Tryt it anyway. If that's the wrong value, it just won't take.
Clicks and blinks? Doesn't sound like a Digitrax decoder (although blinking headlight means there is a short in the motor output). Maybe a wire came loose or got pinched in the shell? The way the older Atlas motor leads were, they used strips of bare copper, not wires, and the one that loops around from the bottom of the motor could easily touch something, which is why when I converted one of those I cut the strip off short and soldered a piece of wire to it.

Place the unit on a small section of track and use Ops Mode to programme CV8 with a value of 8 via the active address "00". Then try it again, same thing, this time using Paged Mode. If your unit does not automatically cut track power when doing an address change in Paged Mode, do it manually, then restore power. Try Address "03" and see if it works.

thanks to all, tryed other ideas after church to no good outcome so I stuck in a new dh-163 I had for another project and all is good . not sure what to do about the stuck decoder, could not find any sign of problem or short in wireing except one small pin hole in the blue shrink wrap on decoder ... well thanks to all J,W.
if going to church didn't help? i suggest you send it back to digitrax for repair / replacement.
