Fibre optic supplies

I see that many on here use fibre for lighting.  Where do you guys get your fibre optics cable from and is 1.5mm the best size to use?

I get some from surplus cutsie stuff at my local dollar stores. Often it's very thin (in diameter), but around Christmas there is usually a better selection.

I also buy cheap optic fibres from "Two Dollar" shops in Australia. The cheap fibre optic lamps are $3 and have about 100 fibres in green blue and red and white. They are very thin though approximately .5 to 1mm but do work very well. They are very flexible.
