I it were me, I would wire my power pack to two DPDT switches and mount them so that their position indicated the direction of intended travel on each section.
Match the switches to cross over.

Unfortunately a DCC autoreverser isn't going to work on a DC layout, and the effect wouldn't be what you are hoping for if it did. There are ways you could do what you want to, but the ones I can think of are considerably more involved.
