I have an crest Basic Engineer that controls track voltage. DC system.
I have a dog bone layout with a cross over track that never seems to be the right polarity.
I under stand how to connect up a reverser and know I need to flip the DPDT switch for the dog bone before the train leaves the cross over track.
DCC systems have 18 volts all the time.
The question is will a reverser work at 3 or 4 volts?

Unfortunately a DCC autoreverser isn't going to work on a DC layout, and the effect wouldn't be what you are hoping for if it did. There are ways you could do what you want to, but the ones I can think of are considerably more involved.

I it were me, I would wire my power pack to two DPDT switches and mount them so that their position indicated the direction of intended travel on each section.
Match the switches to cross over.
