Depends Upon What Era He's Modeling. If He's Modeling The Espee/D&RGW Merger Era From 1988-96,D&RGW Equipment Wouldn't Be Too Out Of Place.I Saw NdeM Run Throughs At Various Time On The Espee "Sunset Route"From 1979-1995.In The Spring of 1980,I Saw Some Brand New SD40-2's In NdeM Paint On The Shiner Branch In Flatonia,Texas Ready To Be Deliveried. With The Advent of TFM;Ferromex and Ferrosur in the Late '90s,It Wouldn't Be Too Uncommon To See Ex NdeM/Current TFM/Ferromex/Ferrosur Equipment On A UP/BNSF Freight. However,If Your'e Modeling The 50's/60's/70's,UP/D&RGW/NdeM Engines Would Be An Anomally.

BUT, depending on period, that doesn't mean that the odd ATSFand/or UP loco wouldn't find its way there... certainly late 50s on diesel power could be leased, borrowed or run through... I've seen examples of locos from the leasee paying back leased power by being used by the original leasor... this worked best where roads had traffic spikes at different tines. I don't know whether the payback was in hours or miles.
In more recent times almost anything seems to get anywhere like ABOX or GONX.
Through SP you might run SSW... don't know about NdeM...
OOPS! That was NEW Mexico... might that put you in range of D&RGW power?

My Layout is set in the area of Northern New Mexico between Lamy & Chama. All of my engines are Santa Fe. My question is did UP or Southern Pacific ever use the same route? Thanking you in advance.
