All the Keystone trains are normally run with cab cars.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.

They use them all the time. I took pics of them in NY Penn Station this past August. Use them in psuh pull when needed.
Yeah, there's about a dozen of Metroliners living out their last days as cab cars
Not likely, on this train. Plus I found confirmation that they specifically use some on this service.

Do you suppose the metroliner was now in private hands. I frequently see private varnish on the end of an Amtrak train. Must be nice.

When I was finally able to get on a train and finish my trip home Friday, when I walked out on the platform I could SWAER the last car on the train was an old Metroliner car, with a control cab and horn up top. I thought anything Metroliner was LONG gone - but nope, they really do use them, specially on the train I was on, one of the Keystone Service trains from Philly to Harrisburg and back.
I'll have to check the week after this when I go back (don;t have to go this week because of Thanksgiving holiday). Though I have to head up a day early so I will be on the Pennsylvanian heading to NYC - which means I'll have ridden that train all but the one segment between Harrisburg and Lancaster - I was on the Pennsylvanian when I took Amtrak home from Milwaukee, from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg. Should have gone to Lancaster that time - it's much clooser to home, but since I flew to Milwaukee out of Harrisburg, I got the train ticket back to there instead of going on to Lancaster. It didn't look like they were seating people in the old Metroliner car, if they have one on my train back next time I'll see if it's possible. Though I did ride in one once some 27 years ago.
