Did CSX really formed in 1980? Is this why the Chessie history stops at that year?
It doesn't seem like it because its formation in 1986.
Most of there locomotives were still being repainted to Chessie up to 1984 that I saw in pictures.

CSX Corporation was formed on November 1, 1980. Subsidiary CSX Transportation absorbed Seaboard System Railroad on July 1, 1986, and Chesapeake & Ohio, the only corporate survivor of the Chessie System Railroads, on August 31, 1987.

BRAKIE Tom,While doinng some research I found B&O still had FM H16-44s in operation in '72.. I double check several on line photos of B&O's 16-44 and 71/'72 seem to correct. Photos can be found on fallen flags and rail pictures.net.

The 1972 date surprises me, but I guess it's possible. B&O's F-M's operated strictly east of Cumberland MD for most or all of their careers, so I had very little exposure to them. (I lived in Ohio and Illinois during most of that time).
