I have an old MDC kit built tank car with lettering just like that decal sheet. Of course the MDC "modern" tank cars are a bit generic and don't match any prototypes exactly AFAIK.

OK, after digging, I wanted to make sure, but yeah, that looked really close. Thanks!

Your choices from research I have done boil down to these,
The Walthers 16,000 Funnel Flow Tank car (40') which was used in corn syrup service prior to the new Trinity Cars.
Athearn does now make a 16,000 Tank Car, but the prototyp may be a new version of the car and not applicable.
The Atlas Kaolin Tank Car 14,000 Gal Tank Car, could be used as a standin as it is the correct length, but has a smaller diameter.

All this is right up my alley, as I'm currently putting some tank cars together, letting some glue dry.
Anyway, from what I see on rrpictures, it's 43' 10" long, and a capacity of 12,000 to 18,000 thousand gallons.

I would think it would be general service, or low pressure. It might have the steam coils. If any of this is what you mean by type.
That appears to be the correct car for the decals. What kind of car is it?
In this case, I really needed to hotlink.
Can anyone identify this type of car? I can't tell what the actual car type is. Nothing is stated next to it.
Thanks so much for the link! I never would have found it on my own.
Well I'll be! I was searching too, as I have some of these decals, and this car, 72243 isn't listed in the 221 pages of rrpicturearchives UTLX tank cars. Maybe I'll just leave the flower off, and just use the reporting marks.
Thanks.

Hi all,
I'm looking to find out what the protoype of this looked like. It appears to be mid-70s by the UTLX typeface. I can't find a reference anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.
