Hi, I've seen an HO scale jumbo tank car on eBay and I was wondering what the prototype for it is?

All sorts - even ones no one's made models of, or if they did, only in brass.

Since you provide no specifics or picture, wouldn't the seller list any of that information in the title description of the item?  You could then use that and Google to glean the information you desire.  I'm sure there's got to be a Wiki page for that specific tank car somewhere on the internet...

I haven't seen Bobby (tankcarsrule) around in a while.  Not on other forums either.  I hope eveything is ok.  His work is the best.

Bobby is fine,

He constantly posts on the Atlas Rescue Forum and Trainboard and his tank car builds are fabulous!

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

Thank you. Could we possibly get back to the jumbo tank cars?

Hi, I've seen an HO scale jumbo tank car on eBay and I was wondering what the prototype for it is?

The prototype builder could be General American Tank Car (GATX) or Union Tank Car (UTLX).

I'm not sure if Trinty made jumbo tank cars.

Thanks! Also where could I find interpretations of the letters on railcars like ECUX, GATX, UTLX, TTX?

I recall posting this link from a discussion of tank cars from a few years ago:

http://utlx.com/pdf/TankCarHistory.pdf

Scroll to page 31 for a view of the "pregnant whale" tank car.
