You've run into a common problem: F&C car kits are actually quite nice, but their directions suck. You basically have to do your own research on each kit to figure out how you should build it!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have built with resin before, and I cast some of my own stuff too, and the castings are near flawless, but the directions do suck.

Thanks for the info!

Westerfield has photos of the main assembly steps for all their resin freight car kits online at their website. They don't make a WWII war emergency hopper kit, but they make the USRA twin hopper which is similarly built:

The NEB&W's website has a large section on WWII war-emergency hoppers. I'm not sure if they have any underframe photos, but there are dozens of builders photos of these cars which might help:

(the NEB&W site is a pay site ($5 a month) but is WELL worth it for the wealth of prototype information that's on it!)

And if all else fails, buy one of the Life Like Proto 2000 war emergency hoppers as a guide. The cars are absolutely beautiful!

Does anyone have any pics, (or know where to find) pics of 55T War Emergency Hoppers? I just picked up a Reading F&C, but the instructions are vague as far as the undercarraige goes. Any help?

THANKS!
