Old, as in "used?" Old, as in "brass?"
I have 3 old, used, brass Shinoharas from my teen layout days in the 1960's. I decided to try them, since they were "only" yard tracks. I discovered right away that I needed to provide additional power routing, so I wired up some relays (which I had around anyway) and got the whole thing to work electrically. However, I had a lot of trouble keeping the points closed well. I saw a great price on Peco 3-ways, and replaced the old Shinoharas. I was instantly much happier. The Pecos are shorter, too, so they'll save more space.

Did you do anything else to the turnout to make the electrical conductivity better or did you use the caboose hobbies ground throw to hold the points up against the stock rail and conduct electricity that way? I have not been too successful using that technique in the past.
Looking at this turnout closely, I am even more confused. It has three frogs and some plastic molded gaps in the rails I am not sure how to wire this thing! - Nevin
