John - I just finished making several signal stands likeyours. I used 3/32 brass tube and like you mentioned I solderedone lead of the LEDs to the mast and soldered a wire to the base. I hand drilled a hole in the tube and using 30 g decoder wire was ableto easily pass two leads down the inside of the tube which wereconnected to the other leg of the two LEDs. MRR has an archivedarticle on exactly what you need to know. I will look it up andget back to you. It was a big help for me.

On my last layout I used transformer coil wire to wire signals. Thee wires can easily be threaded inside the mast and the mast is used for the ground.
The wire has insulating enamel covering and will not short across which is why it is used to wind electro magnetic coils.
I don't know where it can be purchased (RS maybe) but I stripped mine from a defunct twin coil switch machine.
It can be glued on the underside of bridge work with contact cement.

Call em utility service. The T1 leds from radio shack have metal leads out the back of them. How do I insulate those, was thinking of using the signal pole for one lead and then only have one wire down the signal mast. What I really need are leads with insulated wires, then would be a piece of cake. My signal slips into the mounting block at the bottom, would be an easy fix....Thanks...John

I dont know how to answer that.
Im already having nightmares and demonstrating need for Versed after attempting to understand simple dwarf signalling wiring.
