More smoke from a Stainz?

Do not use MTH smoke fluid in an LGB unit, it is much thicker and will clog the smoke unit. Sueth type smoke untis such as those in LGB locos need the thinner fluid.

Ok, so maybe I should try different fluid then. Out of curiosity, how much fluid will it take without overfilling?

I am not so sure mate, i run all my stuff on MTS DCC and the smoke is definitely better but it is still hopeless.I have seen some real decent smoke coming from a roundhouse live steam and i would like something like that to make it worthwhile.

However i haven't given up and every steam loco i buy has a smoke generator, whic i use when my grandsons are visiting, as they are energetic enough to keep putting stuff in it for only limited return

If you really want smoke, take an MTH fan-driven smoke unit from one of their O-Guage locos and see if yu can shoe-horn it in. The amount of smoke from the facotry uit will depend on whether you are running in comand or conventional however.

My Stainz has smoke and it is orettyy good but i am ot satisfied with any smoke sytem i have seen and i don't use ity much.

If it's the Stainz with the 5 volt smoke unit, remove the finger protector from the top of the smoke stack and reduce the amount of smoke fluid. If it's the old style 18 volt unit, nothing short of Lionel speed will help.

Did some searching, but didn't seem to find what I was looking for, so I'll ask: Is there a way to make the starter set LGB Stainz smoke more at lower speeds? My son's doesn't seem to want to smoke much unless it's really cookin' along. My Christmas starter, OTOH, smokes pretty well while moving slowly. Thanks!
