To add to what John said, there are also other brands that are similar to Schleich but are less expensive. Bully and Safari are ones that come to mind. I know you can buy the Safari at Michaels stores, and I've seen Bully at some hobby shops.

Ridge Road Station carries the Schleich line.  Most of the pieces are 1:20 scale but some of the smaller animals like dog, chickens and rabbits look oversized.  The prices are very good and RRS is currently offering free shipping on orders over $25.  Lots of toy stores carry this line including Target.  But the online price is better and free shipping.

Tractor Supply Company Stores sell numerous plastic farm animals that are suitable for Large Scale.

They have a website.

I would agree with Bob and Trigg - just work out the  actual scale heights of some farm animals - preferably not by chasing round a field with a tape measure - then browse the stores . Cheap stuff is good  even if it means a repaint .

Much will depend upon the scale you are working in.   Northern Tool Catalog has several pages of construction and farm equipment models ranging from 1:25, 1:50, & 1:87!  There are a few in 1:32 also.

Your local tractor stores are another place to try, as well as Southern States or other farmers co-op!  They usually have the models of whatever brand they sell!

I haven't seen a lot of farm animals that would work well in our scales!

If you go to the large scale train shows you will have a better shot at finding what you want.   There were 4 or 5 different dealers selling that stuff at last year's ECLSTS!

Try the toy deptartment at WalMart, for $0.88 you can get a bag of 100 farm animals.  You will find about six or eight taht are close to correct scale.  The rest can be donated to your local childrens hospital, or day care center.  Also try Walgreens, and Target.

Farm animals & equipment

I live in an area surrounded by horse and cow farms.  It has inspired me to include these elements into my layout.  I am having no luck in finding horses and cows for my landscape.  Does anyone know of a source to purchase these items?

Thanks for the help.
