oh, one more. The rails are shiny b/c the trucks that now do all the shipments keep them that way when rolling over them.

This isn't an abandoned rail trail but the ROW could make for some nice hiking. Also, the abandoned piers make nice fishing platforms.

I've incorporated abandoned trackage in 1/2 of my entire layout. I just think it looks cool.

The recent posts about abandoned sidings gave me an idea. Instead of an actual abandoned line, why not model a "Rail Trail?" The old NYC Walkill Valley line passes by my college and I hike it often. This may be too modern for most of us but I figured I would put it out there.
