Well, It's finished! I had a slight change of plans. I wasn't happy with the paint scheme so I decided on my own line. I combined my screen name and geographic region for "Red Baron Toys Mid-Western R.R." or "RBTMW". The four wheel trucks idea would look great but then it would be very similar to LGBs shorty. I want this one to be my own. It seems kind of ironic or maybe even poetic that RBTMW's first car is a caboose!

now put dubble trucks on it , I have 9 hershey cars and a hershey bobber caboose, I PUT DUBBLE TRUCKS on it ,it looks good , I like the way you did you car.it looks good

Well, Here it is! It still needs some detail work but it's well on its way.

This is the new roof. It started life as a replacement for the Bachmann Jackson Sharp cars. I cut 4.5" from each end and joined them together. The 9" finished roof fits the bobber caboose body perfectly. I still need to clean up the seam.

These photos show the donor caboose disassembled and painted. The second photo shows some damage from the roof removal but that will be covered with the new roof. When finished, I will have a lot of spare parts. Any ideas???

These photos show the Bachmann Jackson Sharp observation car next to a Bachmann Bobber caboose. The look together is not what I want but there are plenty of similarities to work with. Technically, the passenger trains didn't use a caboose, but I just really like them. Since they didn't actually exist, I had to get creative to get the look I wanted.

Hi, I've been playing around with some parts and pieces and built a great little caboose that matches my Bachmann Jackson Sharp passenger cars. I started with a used Bachmann bobber caboose that I got cheap on eBay and a replacement roof for a passenger coach, also found on eBay cheap. The roof and ladders had to be removed from the caboose. This was the hardest part since it was all one cast piece. A lot of time consuming cutting. Next the passenger roof was cut to fit. I used about 4.5" from each end and discarded the center. This gave me a 9" roof that fits nicely on the caboose body. Next I painted it to match my ET&WNC (Tweetsie) passenger cars. Right now I am waiting for the paint to dry before final assembly.
