My wife and I started construction in April of this year . The trains were running around June. Lots of hard physical labor but it is definately worth it. Hope to see yours running someday soon . Good luck !

Benny, Unfortunately NO! The train is Blue Asters. The only track i own is 1 2ft piece so I could set my coupler hieght on my boxcars.[V] But as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day"[:D]

I know how you feel, Matt. I have 8 ft of track, but I do have 11 ft of ballasted quasi-roadbed that I use to take picure. We are a motley crew, aren't we[:p]? But its all in patience!

Rome was not built in a day, I guess "scale" years would be acceptable.

The only one I've seen build Rome in a day is Marty, D@#$ he gets alot done!

There you go Blue aster, all you have to do is go to your web site and right click on the pick and click on properties, then highlight the http all the way to jpg and then click copy open your forum post and select the picture icon in the format bar like the captian said. Then inbetween the Img/img put your cursor and right click then click on paste. DONE. Hope that helps.

You know that bit about making sure it is level, well that is very good advice and I would add the following.

1/ Do not overlook the need to get your level correct from side to side as well, if you muck the camber up you will have trouble with derailing, and never quite know why, from one who has and did.

2/ It is not all that necessary to have your layout level lengthwise all the time, as if you want to put in a gradient, now is the time to do it. I have had to go to 4 % on my new area 3 and it doesn't look to good (unrealistic) but all works ok.

You got it Bluebommet thats how we had to do it except I used a hand tamper. The higest brick course is 5 and it tapers to 1 high. Make sure that first course is level and away it goes fast . Those are 6x8x12 pavers.

I think I will go a little higher than 3 rows of brick, if we are looking at the 26 pounders) to get the track level about 3 feet off of the ground [;)][:)][^]

1) Dig trench for base
2) bring gravel in about 1" to 3" rocks
3) rent a tamper wear vibration gloves too
4) make dang sure it is all level either with laser or long house level
5) start placing in bottom row
6) second row going start spiking it
7) keep going
8) your choice to fill the spike holes up with mortor

If you want real grat drainage use a holed pipe behind the paver stones and back full with the rest of the stone left over from the bottom. Enjoy [:D]

Your link worked, we can click on it; but you need to put the URL address and then highlight it...then go to the "format" secetion and click on the button that has an arrow pointing to a picture of mountains and a sun (its right next to the envelope with arrows and the "pound (#)" sign...
