 You can look at the 785 contents by clicking on it...

 It includes the centering spring shown in the page... the 831 does not come with it... it's a small piece of spring metal bent in a 90 degree bend, the picture shows it edge on, it centers the coupler box.

Get the ones that Kadee recommends on their conversion list.

I have a GP-30 and a GP-38-2, and I want to put kadee couplers on them.  I see that the GP-30 take a #831 and the GP-38-2 takes a #785.  I can not see the difference between the two.  Why can't you use one set of the same style couplers for both locomotives? What is the difference?
