2 engines 1 sound system

What kind of experience has anyone had running multiple engines with one speaker in the main engine and a single speaker in the second engine I am interested in finding out what ohm speaker is used and how the system performs thanks Ray

As long as you match the impedance to the output, you're okay.
However, then you have horn and bell in the following unit.

Most speakers that i know of have an impedance of 4 ohms and i would assume that unless told otherwise. The idea of matching the impedances is quite correct as this is when you will get maximum transfer of energy, therefore most efficient operation, however this is hard to do unless you know the impedances involved.

Most speakers are eight ohms, at least around this part of the world, so before you do it, let's contact the manufacturer of the specific sound system to see which procedure they will recommend.

Speakers used to be 8 ohms but in more recent times they have moved more and more towards 4 ohms.

All Sierra and Phoenix speakers are 8 ohms.

I can print out page after page of electronics catalogs and 75 items will be 8 to one of 4 or even 16.

Just zip it until he contacts the specific sound system manufacturer....
Or, are you paying for repairs?

There ya go.
Just be careful not to run one 4 ohm with a plug between the locos.

Finding the correct size 4 ohm can be interesting.

Maybe someone in Oz can ship them to you.

One problem is that two 4 ohm speakers in series may not necessarilly give you 8 ohms, it may but then again it may not. The variationin any case is not all that noticable as it is when you come up against a 75 ohm balanced line or a 600 ohm telecommunication line things may go awry.

Did you know i have actually visited the Count Alessandro Volta museum at Lake Como in Italy and he is the person after whom volts are named.
