Most speakers that i know of have an impedance of 4 ohms and i would assume that unless told otherwise. The idea of matching the impedances is quite correct as this is when you will get maximum transfer of energy, therefore most efficient operation, however this is hard to do unless you know the impedances involved. <br /> <br /> <br />Rgds Ian
