I think you might have given us more information than we wanted, Marty.
I don't even want to visualize that.

Hi all,[:)][:D]

On the RhB / Swiss Trains Forum we have a section called "The Village Fountain (ChitChat) ---If it doesn't fit anywhere else".

The village fountain was/is the typical place in the mountains where the latest "news" would make the rounds.
Here in NA one could call it "The General Store Coffee Table", same quaint idea. [;)][:D]

With all the incredible bargains going; to do with G scale model trains i thought that we could nearly establish a separate section to do with ebay.

I am also having trouble raising interest in Germany, regard a very lage G scale order i am going to place, including 3 top range LGB locomotives with the works and i can hardly get them to answer me, am I doing something wrong. I thouhgt I might be offending them by using English so i had one message translated but still very little interest, can anyone help.

Hi Ian,

When ordering in Germany it helps to

a) order from a dealer who is fluent in English

OR

b) have someone translate your order. It helps tremendously if the translator knows the ins and outs of LS since it is different from ordering electronics, automotive stuff or sausage casings[;)][}:)][:D][:D] AND is familiar with the general business practices in Germany.

On the "evilBay" score: many of us are willing to exchange some info, most of us are loathe to get into the nitty-gritty of someone elses "mistake".
On eBay, like everywhere, "Buyer beware" rules. Or, you need to ask your own questions and make up your own mind if you like the answer. [;)][:)][:D]

I have had one bad experience on ebay an esso tanker with major parts missing and in very dilapidated condition, I gave him a negative and he gave me one right back but apart from that i have done really well. 20 items purchased 13 recieved in good time and only one dud.

On to the German thing they eirher wont answer me or when I get into detail they stop emailing me; the language doesn't seem to be a problem.

1/ wouldn't anyone regard an order for 3 top LBG loco's a good order and try to pursue it?

2/ a) Do you think i am only tyre kicking (window shopping).

b) Too far away I have said I will be living in Bremen and they may not realise Aussies are big travellers?

c) Talking too far in the future (May to July) and not worth the effort, as it probably never happen.

Has anyone tried the German Language forum yet?

Please advise i need help.

Hi Ian,
I think LGB are strictly authorised agents only. If you haven't got a trading deal with them they will not even speak to you, as you are finding out. Try to find a model shop on the net near where you are going to be and give him an advance order, if the deal is right.
Cheers,
Kim

SURRENDER!!! HANDS IN AIR!!!! I GIVE UP!

I was just trying to say if we kept the friendly banter and off topic stuff in the Turbo's and Curmudgeon's threads, those who didn't like it would know to skip over them and not get offended! I'm willing to go with the flow!

Ian, remember, "MONEY TALKS, BULL*** WALKS"; find a deal and wave some money under thier noses, that ought to perk them up! If all else fails, I'm sure somebody on the forum who lives there could put together a deal and do it by proxy thereby leaving you only to pick up the goods and run with them after handing over the requisite amount of ca$h! Another alternative is to pick them up at a US dealer on your way through sometime!

Ian,

I don't see the problem!

Here's what I would do (all in English, never mind the German!)

Gentlemen,

Please quote prices on the following for May/June 2005 delivery to Bremen.

XYZ xxxx; XYZ xxxx; XYZ xxxx; XYZ xxxx; XYZ xxxx; XYZ xxxx;

Payment will be by "Whatever CreditCard"

Please state shipping charges separately, shipping by DHL.

Then you surf the Internet to come up with the required dealers or you use LGB's dealer listing for Germany, send it to about fifteen dealers and see what happens. I have yet to experience not getting an answer from a dealer in Germany, but I've run into the problem with US dealers. And it ain't a language problem![;)][:)][:D]

OTOH we get almost daily inquiries for delivery to Macao, Nigeria, Singapore, Zimbabwe etc. etc. etc.and a slew of other fine places. Everyone of them being a hotbed of model railroading and the orders always running into real money. Wellllllllll, the Spamkiller on our machines have been trained to re-route those inquiries straight to the "Big Abyss".[;)][;)]

So make sure you specify precisely what you want, dealers are not crazy about wild goose chases.[:)][:)]

Yes HJ I tried all that as best as i could and no one came back to me. I don't even want them to deliver to me I will pick it up anywhere in Germany.

However finally I have got someone who will at least talk to me so that i can sort it out before I get there only 2 1/2 hours away from Bremen.

So we will see how that goes. Rene gave ne two contacts and neither of them would even reply to me, finaly one did and then would not answer any more emails after the first one; that was Lok shop. However I tried again with the second one and we are now getting somewhere.

Well here it is Easter Sunday in Queensland, the football season has just started for 2005, the rest of the country has gone off daylight saving (we don't have it in Queensland were too backward) and it makes it hard for us being out of kilter with the rest of the country. Its autumn and the fall equinox is behind us and its still to hot to were a T shirt or sox.

All the best to evryone for Easter 2005 from down under.
