Indeed that 726 is older than I am, and almost as old as my father.  My grandfather bought each of his children a locomotive shortly after they were born, and the 726 was for my father (the oldest of 3), and he's getting close to 60 now himself.  Notice the white chalk in the stack; I still remember my grandfather putting the smoke pellets down in there and crushing them.  This new fangled smoke liquid is all new to me.  In the pic below is the 726 on my grandfather's Christmas layout, my dad is the one with the "hair", and I'm in the stripes.

Oh, yes as for the tubular rail as Hank Williams Jr. once said "It's a family tradition."  Wink [;)]

Thanks, John

Thanks I know he would appreciate the compliment.  He has been working on his collection for years, and has everything from the Post-war Berkshire to the Aero-train on his layout.  He has very strict rules about what he runs and everything had to have run on PRR during the 50's, thus all the steam, the Aero-train is the one exception to the steam rule because he saw it when he was young and it made a huge impression on him then, so he finally relented and added it.  I personally think it compliments the others very nicely.  He's told me that if the Aero had been used more then he would not have added it, but since it was in service for such a short period of time then he thought he could add it and keep his integrity.  BTW, he's tubular all the way!  Wink [;)]  Here is a still of his rail-yard with each of this trains, I personally have never seen then all in person.

Ok, I know I'm way late for the Sunday show, but I just got an email from my father with a video of his layout that he ran yesterday for the first time in 4 years, and I just wanted to share.  He says he'll have more vids coming, and I'll post them when I get them.

Laz,

Those are old Corgi '60 Corvair sedans from their early '60's production.  Just your everyday used fleamarket finds although I see they're usually asking $30-$40 these days.  A tad small for O scale....probably better suited in size with traditional Lionel stuff.

Laz, I believe I saw some Corvairs at 3000Toys.com, and they also had just received some new Batmobile sets. Big Smile [:D]

Colin,

The covered hopper is by Lionel.  It came in a 4 car Pennsy pack which also included a flatcar with 2 piggyback trailers, a refer and the usual N5 cabin.  Can't remember the number of this set or when they were produced and unfortunately the box is packed away in the attic.

Seen here is the only ballasted section of the layout.  Pennsy is delivering a dusty load of new Corvairs.  The new Lionel, CP flatcar will definitely need something to carry in the near future, thanks to John's inspiration.  K-Line's Torpedo rounds the bend after coming off Lazyboy bridge and heading towards Chesterfield with a string of 5 FOM cars.

BRUCE, nice pics.  Where did you get the CORVAIRS?  I've been looking for them for a while now.  Please do tell?

Bruce, looks really good. I am guessing the covered PRR hopper behind the Torpedo is a Weaver.

Fantastic photos everyone..lots of inspiration here.  Tom (Spankybird), where did you get your cars from?  I am looking for pre 1950 hardtops.  Thanks,

Most of them you can pick up at www.diecastdirect.com  or www.3000toys.com

But do note that they cost a bit more than $5.00 each. Sigh [sigh]

Nothing is cheap when you put "Model Railroad" on it.   I have tried Motormint, but they have very bad customer service and I have been waiting for more than 4 months for some items.  I do like the Brooklyn cars, but at $95 each, it gets real pricey.

Everyone did a wonderful job on the photo fun this week.  I am especially glad to see another lady join the ranks as it makes it more acceptible for our wives to join the fun.  I have already told my bride that we have a few ladies and she has shown a good bit of interest in the trains too.  This could be a bad thing as she could outspend me on the trains.....NAH.

Thanks Tom and all the posters.

Dennis

Wow!   I feel that Sunday Photo Fun hit an all time high with all of these nice layouts. I think the CTT Gang should pay a visit to some of these layouts here. Alex- I like your layout as it is very detailed & nice with enough action & your photo's of the K-Line Pacific's are sharp. Jim- I like your American Flyer Silver Bullet Engine. Looks almost like new or in mint condition there. Frank53- Nice photo's of your layout- Hope no #60s were hurt in the process.Wink [;)]Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]Clown [:o)] Take Care all.

one more kick at it.  This was my weathering practice guinea pig.  A new load of iron slag helped detail it up a bit too.
