The "double agent".
Does she know how to fire up that Tiger tank? She looks like she could fire up my tank....
Daan, Certainly!!! While the war effort is going on , certain captured vehicles are being transported by rail for further study.

JON, Nice pics as usual.
I've been getting into the DOD train myself and picked up 3 Shermans, halftrack,4jeeps, personnel carriers, and a MASH helicopter at YORK and its starting to come along. I also got quite a few army GIZ both American and Germans. Thinking of doing a small battle ground scene?
Keep up the GREAT work JON. Its always a pleasure seeing your stuff.
Jon - thank you for the reply and thanks for posting some great pictures of your work. I really like the job you've done, because another idea I have been tossing around in my head was to try and make military type cars/layout myself. I am an admitted history buff, especially WWII & the Civil War, but I was playing with ideas in my head for making a Civil War era type train. Just another one of the several ideas I have, with no money to back it! A recent train show here had a layout of the Connecticut Valley at the start of WWII, showing munitions factories and supply lines. It was very well done and had a great storyline to read along with all the stops on the display. I should have taken some pictures to post here.
Either way I love seeing people's custom pics to help get ideas, but to also appreciate their hard work and creativity. Nice job, Jon.
Kevin - if I am not mistaken the Corgi models are fairly common at most hobby shops. Would another good diea for "steel cable" tie downs possibly be guitar strings?
Thanks, Marty! I think the picture quality is just the effects of a cheap camera!!
Kevin, Most of the vehicles are made by Corgi and actually come weathered, but you can "grunge" 'em a bit more. I find them at a store called Tuesday Morning usually for only around $15.00 each. For the chain, I pick it up at my hobby shop in the model ship section, and if I want to use "steel cable" I pick up fishing line leaders at Walmarts. I hope this helps.
Jon,
Wow, great layout, great work, and great photos.
How much time does it take you to prep those great looking model tanks? They are terrific in detail and realistic touch to your layout?
Where do you get the tie down chain at?

As always nice work! I love the look of the pictures too. Very subtle. Can't put my finger on it but very nice indeed.

Skullie, I purchase the flatcars and stain/weather them, then add the vehicles with tie-downs. Sorta custom you could say. Fairly decent shot if you click on the pix to enlarge it.

Passing row upon row of flatcars laden with military hardware, he kept on walking.

Nice picture Jon !! Always enjoy your pictures of your layout &
Thanks, John
The old hobo rolls off the flatcar carrying the Sherman tanks to war. His feet hit the dirt on the siding and he tips his hat as he walks past the lovers by the fence. He closes his eyes for a moment. And remembers times from long ago. And continues walking......
