Up in Cetralia, Pa there is still a culm bank and mine fire still burning for 20+ years. They relocated the people but still some are holding on to there property. Town looks like a ghost town. I agree would look good with some red LEDs. and smoke.

I recall seeing the purgatory fires blazing nightly in the coal heaps. Don't know if they ever put those out.

paul, again, great night innovation; I'd suggested the idea a few years ago but yours if the first. You could add a black light and paint stars and moon with heavy duty detergent that is invisible until the black light goes on. I've done that before, even mapping the constellations on the ceiling and applying flourescent paints to car taillights, headlights etc; you can go crazy with that and have fun

by next sunday's foto fun hope to have some shots of a new supersized industry i worked on over the weekend that weighs about 50 pounds. it is a machine & tool company industry that doubles as a beagle step thru the window. i'm corrugating the sides all this week with saved pop cans

don't have any shots of my layout this week but recently visited an outdoor layout so here are some scenery shots; also, still running pix of my trip to zurich last month and will have more in the future that will include trolley buses

Here are some unpublished photos of Jim Strong’s layout up in Maryland, depicting his effective usage of rocks to give a prototypical appearance.

Notice the placement and angle of the rocks, the strata, and the weathered look with greenish mosses looking like the rocks were there from the dawn of time…

Don - I have always dreamed of putting a room over my garage, even had a set of plans but not the money to do it. Good luck with yours. Looks like you'll be able to fill it up pretty quick.

These pictures are not even in the same category as the others. But what the heck.......

We are going to be building a room for trains over our garage, (meet with the contractor tomorrow for final review of plans), so in the interium we are on the floor, and doing maintenance on all our stock, and planning. Still lots of fun!


Christmas tree gone, but trains stayed.

Howdy. A couple of shots of the State of the Table including a Marx 333. I wish I could say it smokes like a bandit but it doesn't! I might try some megasmoke. I can see several years of fun ahead in getting things up and going. I'm just messing around with non-derailing turnouts for the first time. Pretty nifty.

It is for a slide duplicator, it runs $69 + $7 for an adaptor ring. I purchased on of these for my digital last year. Since then I have digitized over 4,000 slides that are just sitting in boxes. I have been able to sort them and put them on DVD's and given them to various family members. The duplicator works really well. Can take those old slides, crop and zoom the image and endless capabilities evolve.

This last week with a deep breath and sweat rolling off my forehead, I installed the cruise control in my K-Line Mikado. Here are some photos I took of the insides of the engine before the installation.






The following photo shows the Mikado being tested after the cruise has been installed. Much to my relief it worked and still does work today after several hours of running.
