Had a very nice visit with FifePup and his wife. Pretty much just hung out all week, with a couple of short trips here and there. They gave me a new Jon Pardi shirt, and Kelly a gift card. I did find a signed Charlie Amos print at a local thrift store, so took it to Michael's for a frame and matting. Dropped them off at the airport at 1930, and they are now back in the Sunshine state. They kept telling everybody how much they liked the 40 degree temps...Really...?

After a 7 day bout with COVID and a quick trip to the ER on Saturday morning (EARLY!!) for a gastro issue, I'm back. Jenni also tested negative, so she's going back to work.
Tree is up and surrounded by lighted Fastrack and the Polar Express. Decorations will commence once I find the lights I want. Either mini lights or C9s - it's a 7 foot tree, we picked it up at the firehouse while they were closed - since I'm a member there was no issue. We got some of the decorations up and some at Jenni's. We'll complete both houses by the weekend, I think.
We got an offer on my house, and I countered, so we'll see if they accept. Latest we'll close is by 1 February. The Princess and my SIL have gotten the ok for off base housing so he'll start banking the housing alloance and await for his bride to arrive. Which means I need to get steppin on getting the rest of the house emptied, once the offer is accepted.
A frosty high of 43F today - it was 29F when I fed my ferals and the sun is out.

Mornin' guys and gals. Cloudy and 28 along the Allegheny front-range. Hope the sun makes an appearance during Chris and Launa's visit. She wanted to see snow, so we spent the day up at Deep Creek Lake, and walked in the man-made shohizo at the ski resort. Had an awesome dinner at Ace's Run, on the waterfront. Probably walk around downtown today.
On the train front, FifePup gave me an American Rails collector's plate, with a Chessie SD40-2 on it. Has the gold trim around the edge. I need to find a proper hanger for the wall.

Hey 'Devil, finding the Jersey Transit train and the J.C. Penney 2055 must have been like Christmas come early, especially if you'd forgotten you had them!
So far the only train stuff I've found in the attic I didn't know about (I've found stuff before and sold it at train shows) was a Lionel satellite launch car. I'm planning on dumping the broken launch unit and repurposing the flat. Flatcars always come in handy for something.
Found a whole buncha photographs we'd forgotten about. I'm surprised how well the old 1970s - 1980s Polaroids have held up, just like the day they were shot. A lot of the old Kodacolor prints not so much.

Since Saturday we have rearraigned the living room to better suit us and now the tree (once we get it) will be near the front window. The decision was made to not put up the fake tree that Mom had and get a live one. Still have to decorate the house, once I get BACK into the attic
Brought more stuff home from my house including a new unopened NJ Transit work train with add on car, JC Penney 2055 and a few projects. We're feeling a little under the weather right now, so most activities are on hold for now.

The offer today beat yesterday's hands down in all important respects. Including training in Cleveland. Not that I wouldn't want to go to Seattle. I was already thinking of how to see 4449 on my time off!

Well...I may be jetting off to Seattle next week! I had an interview today with PrimeFlight Aviation Services at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and if everything goes well, I will do 8 days of training with Alaska Airlines to become a ticket counter agent.
The bad news is Alaska Airlines has only one flight a day out of Hopkins so the job is part time only. Today I rode 2 modern LPG busses, 2 LPG trolley busses and 2 rapid transit cars going to and from the 15 minute interview. I left at 11, arrived at 12:15, had the interview at 2, left at 2:30 and got home a little after 4. If I end up working out there I'll definitely need a better routing. One that doesn't have me standing on corners looking for a bus for an hour at a time.
Anyhoo. At the present time I'm hemorrhaging dollars so fast I'll be out on my butt by February so I'm going to take the job if offered. However, I also have a phone interview with Swiss Air tomorrow and maybe I can get a better offer. Maybe they train in Geneva?
KRM - You still have all those other fun "toys"... Still running that layout from time to time?

Did get the Gingerbread Junction set up and running, along with the matching Mrs. Claus chasing gon, and the Baking mint boxcar. So, NPV is finished. Ms. Kelly very happy with this new edition. May very well be the prettiest tree/garden combo we've ever displayed. Will share as the month moves along.
Did spend weekend at the Chapter caboose, as the WMSR ran it's PE trains. Fun to see all the families in their matching pj's. Do need some for one of our members, Tom, who begins his battle against the Big C today.

Got my PC a new hard drive and it is working again, this one is solid state and should last longer and so far seem nice now that I got most everything working again. So I know what Ellie (Leverettrailfan) is dealing with.
Sold the old 2003 Rusty Ranger plow truck this week and ordered a new plow for the Gator 590i. She started leaking water and I am not wanting to work on these things anymore since the broken ankle thing. Besides I can get rid of the INS, and Plates as well as all the other overhead that goes with the extra truck. It did serve me well, I thought I would have it maybe 2 years and it made 5 years and 7 months, all of that miles and salt kept from the Colorado, so it was a good thing. FB Markplace is a real PITA but it got 3,400 looks and I had so many hits I could not keep up. Gone now and would you know,,,,I left the garage door opener in the thing. I guess I need to reset all the other ones now. Boy it sucks to get old and four garage doors with openers don't help.
Nothing on the train front at the moment.

Years back I knew a local detective lieutenant who told me when he was a young patrolman he got a call to "Check on an old lady who says she's got a cannon in the attic. It's probably an old shotgun or something like that."
Well, she DID have a cannon in the attic! A French 37mm Hotchkiss of WW1 vintage her late husband managed to "souvenir" from somewhere. "I don't know how they got it up there" he told me, "We had a hell of a time getting it down!" The chief called the West Point Museum (about an hour's drive away) to see if they wanted it and they said "Sure!" So that's where it wound up.

Just noticed that it is a new month. I'm still lurking here, just not active with trains at the moment. Still splitting time between Michigan and Missouri.
On top of my projects going in two states, my uncle passed a few weeks ago. As his estate is settled, I will be involved in cleaning out his house. My sister lives farther away, and she and her husband really can't make the trip to help. Going to be a busy winter.
