Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 75 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Not much going on, but have been "planting" a new batch of trees, in the layout room.  Trying to decide how the last stretch of shoreline will be vegetated, and I've been scanning through Kinkade paintings for inspiration.

As for the website...at least we have it.  I'd hate for some decision maker to get fed up, and nix the whole thing.  So, we might want to stomp a little lighter.  Just sayin'....

Now that both families know I can tell youse giz.......On July 11th, during Chryslers at Carlisle in front of our car clubs, and in between our cars (they were nose to nose) at exactly 4:40 PM I proposed to Jenni.

Wonderful news! (I'm assuming she said yes?)  I'm very happy for the both of you!

Hello there
Finally getting some rain. Looking like it might be a good one.

Son mowed 2nd cutting alfalfa. Only the thick spots worth gathering up. Needed cut because if not cut after shooting blossoms it won't grow..The few thick places needed gathering to allow new growth. All the way 7 bales from 3 acres.

Got to go tear apart the pool pump. The motor turns but the impeller doesn't.

Best get toit.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic

Good Morning!!!

Monday was a typical Monday - - - I have a guy they brought back from being laid off and, after 3 months, forgot everything.  I mean literally everything....I spent 45 minutes of overtime to show him, remotely, how to scan the car......just shoot me.....mid day was calm but the morning and afternoon....ugh....

As it turns out, I did get to go see Jenni for her birthday, yesterday and flowers were delivered prior.  I made dinner for her, played selections from Sinatra and Martin during dinner and Ol' Blue Eyes sang her Happy Birthday.  Rainbow cake and Chocolate Chip Mint Ice Cream from Baskin Robbins.  With candles, of course!!  She is still struggling with her commission portraits, 4 to go and 1 has to be done by Friday.  She does amazing work.
We did run into the basement for a bit and cleared up some boxes.  Need to get a layout built sometime soon.  Also will be building the HO Slot cat rack and putting up the air hockey table as well.

Now that both families know I can tell youse giz.......On July 11th, during Chryslers at Carlisle in front of our car clubs, and in between our cars (they were nose to nose) at exactly 4:40 PM I proposed to Jenni.  I never thought I would do this again, but she really is amazing.  Still waiting for the first "disagreement".  Never thought life would be THIS good. - Note to Fife:   Thank you for the talk we had after my divorce.  Your words of wisdom and advice guided me.  For once, I actually listened to someone smarter than me......lol!!!

90s again today, indexes over 100+F later.

Hopefully Monday Part Duex will not appear today......

Good Evening,

Thought I would go ahead and post MY saga for the day....

This am was doing research on renting an Aereator for the front lawn.  Now this is only 600 sq ft..  Thought about the getting the shoes, but too many people had negative experiences with those. (only about 1/2" penetration, Im told need about 3").  So then I thought maybe one of those that you use with your foot.  Cheap enough $22, and has 4 spikes.  I thought about just driving some nails through a board, but Kay nixed that, predicting I would fall.

So I got the $22 dollar one. Brought it home and gave it a try... WOW that was like trying to punch holes through concrete, the ground was so hard.  So therefore, thought should rent one.  Found a couple only $65 for a day.  Now here's the dilima with that..  How do I get it here?  The El Camino is out of service, our Explorer MIGHT be able to hold it.  The unit weighs 293lbs, HOW am I going to get it up to the Explorer?  Kay needs the Explorer to go and "check" on her Mom, so I can't count on that to get it back.  Using a trailer?  Don't have a vehicle here with a receiver, the Explorer might.  But its not going to be available.  So back to the 4 prong foot penatrator.

Then thought before I start, would check on the status of the El Camino, hmmm the radiator core frame, (width of vehicle, right behind the grill), is still on back order!  Expect an update next Saturday!  Ask what about me finding one?  That's great!  I found one (actualy 3) from my buddy "El Camino Mike".  So got the repair shop following up with that.  Then find out what is happening with the tooth that broke in my partial.  It is suppose to only take a couple of days, AND that was last Monday!  (Status, due in at dental office today, can go in to get it Wednesday!  That didn't make me happy, and I shared my feelings on that.)  Finally, had some shoes ordered through the VA, and they too are late.  Update today is probably next week.

Interestingly all of the above items delay is due to Covid 19, suppliers not knowing how to schedule their employees. (So I was told).

So I took my frustration out on the yard with the "4 prong foot penetrator".  (I soaked the area with water then tried it, much, much easier).

Then this afternoon, I got a call from the dentist, and they HAVE the partial, AND there was a cancellation, so I could come in at 4 and get them.  Hmmmm Ok!

Bottom Line ---- GOT MY TEETH, THAT'S A GOOD THING !

Will have to follow up on the rest.  Did get about half of the yard done, will finish tomorrow.

So all in all a good day!

Don

Afternoon,

Dennis,  There is a company in Seal Beach, that deals with Reproduction parts for older cars.  Original Parts Group, Inc.

They do a LOT of business over the web, and have a beautiful showroom in Seal Beach.  I have been there a number of times, as a matter of fact, I was having problems finding someone to work on my car.  So I went there and asked them if they had any place they would reccommend.  They did, only 8 miles from my house.  And I liked them, so that's where it is now.  There web site is: OPGI.com   They even have catalogs for some. They did mine.  Roy has also (and is) buying stuff from them.

Hope this helps!

Stay cool

Don

Hello there, it was another scorching weekend. Son was baleing straw Saturday. It kept plugging up the round baler and he didn't quite finish before having to leave for work so he asked me to finish with the square baler. I had to move the Oliver to get it out so I decided to give it a workout and hooked it up. There were only 30 bales so waited till almost sundown and gathered them up on a trailer while Mrs drove. Took my time but was still pretty wupped. Felt good to get a shower and a beer.

Sunday was a lazy day capped with an impromptu picnic at daughters.

Time to  go.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 79, during this mini-heat wave.  Didn't get below 80 all night, along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Gonna water the flower beds, and take youngest driving, and that will be about it today.

Had a nice visit with my buddy.  We were up Horseshoe Curve on Saturday, along with a lot of other folks.  The cable cars were not operating, so Tom had to climb the steps on bad knees, but he made it.  NS put on a really good show, too.  Didn't spot any Heritage units though.

The guys from the NRHS chapter sent Wifey a very sweet "thank you" card.  Me thinks she has a fan club...

Afternoon folks!

Only hit 93 yesterday. Normal temps of mid/high 90's, high 70's predicted for next two weeks! Several 100 days last week did not materialize. I will take it.

Got the new felts/weatherstripping installed on the passenger window and working on the driver side (outer is done). Have to grind off the staples and then drill for pop rivets for the inner. Finding "1/8 Dia x 1/4 length x 1/16 capture" was a bit of a challenge, but finally found some at Ace Hardware. As we have all experienced, web sites for Lowes, HD, and Ace are not accurate on "in-store" stock, but Ace was the only place that had someone answer phone and knew what they had. My local Ace has a great selection of all kinds of bolts (metric and US) along with a lot of knowledgeable store staff. And you are not required to buy "packs" with more than you need. Not sure how they do it, but they do and it is such a standout. Prices not much higher than Lowes or HD.

Morning all.

89* going to 96* today. 66% humidity at present. Already feels like 93*

No real plans for today. May go out and do some figuring as I have some angles to cut for the top half.

Chuck coming tomorrow, and we will finish wiring the temp power to the shed correctly until I get the tunnel made to put the conduit and permanent wiring thru.

Talk to you all later. Hope you all have a good day.

Evening all.

Well, I painted more 1" x 4" x 8' boards for shelving. I finished doing some more framing to the end top portion, so I can add insulation and it will match the bottom in thickness. The top had 2 x 4's laying flat where the bottom was like regular studs laying on ends.

Getting closer and closer to being finished out there. then I can finally move stuff back out there.

Hope all having a good weekend

Talk to you all later

The builder claims they are eco-friendly, yet they install CFL bulbs with mercury in them...

Here at the "Fortress Flintlock" we call 'em "Mercury Bombs!"  I'm slowly replacing them with LED bulbs, the "bombs" don't seem to last as long as they were advertised to anyway.

Afternoon Fellas

Thanks Banks and Roy. Yes all fixtures, and screw-in bulbs in the house are LED or CFL (builder installed, as those die out we will replace with LED. The builder claims they are eco-friendly, yet they install CFL bulbs with mercury in them... Confused). The circuits in question are indeed 15 Amp, good news is the one wall is the backwall for the garage where the circuit breaker boxes are, so if I have to run a new line I can do that rather easily - which I may do just to have a dedicated 20-Amp line for the trains and I can put a GFI on that line too).

Fife - come on down... I just fixed the drain for the new powder sink. New towel hook should be here today, then TheQ needs to buy decorations.

Roy - I hope Fife is referring to trying out each of the seven toilets... lol

Just got an email from our TCA Lone Star Division president. All local/LS Division train shows (TCA and other) have been cancelled for the remainder of this year. He also said the October Eastern Division York meet is not looking good. Many area events are off are due to the venue deciding not to allow/host events due to staff/community concerns.

They never have. I believe the only reason it is still here, is that they know they would lose so much business if it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, there is good about this forum but maintenance isn't one of them.
