THE SPIRIT OF 76
53 WORDS

  1. In 1974, (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) put out a one sheet, four page (_ _ _ _ _) announcing the new (_ _ _ _ _ _) of 76 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Series of (_ _ _ _ _ _) rolling stock.
  2. Included in the initial offering were the brand new (_ _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) U36B diesel, which replicated the paint scheme created by the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) System, and matching No. 6-7600 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) caboose.
  3. The first (_ _ _ _ _) of the eventual (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) boxcars in the series were the 6-7601 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), 6-7602 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) and 6-7603 New (_ _ _ _ _ _).
  4. They were joined the next year by (_ _ _ _) more.  The No’s 6-7604 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _), 6-7605 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), 6-7606 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) and 6-7607 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _).
  5. Those four were (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) the year before their official release, 1975, just as the remaining eight (_ _ _ _ _) cars were in 75-76.  The Nos. 6-7608 South (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), 6-7609 New (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), 6-7610 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), 6-7611 New (_ _ _ _), 6-7612 (_ _ _ _ _) Carolina and 6-7613 (_ _ _ _ _) Island finished this impressive set.
  6. (_ _ _ _ _ _) seems to be 100% positive why the No. 6-7610 tends to command a (_ _ _ _ _ _) price than the other twelve (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) while being reported as only slightly (_ _ _ _) scarce.
  7. The Spirit of (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ - _ _ _) series weren’t the only pieces of rolling stock to fly the (_ _ _ _) in the modern era.  Uncataloged in 1989 and cataloged in 1991 were the Nos. 19516 George (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), 19517 (_ _ _ _ _) War and 19518 (_ _ _) on the (_ _ _ _) boxcars, each of which displayed a flag with the correct number of (_ _ _ _ _) for the era (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _).
  8. The No. 6-8559 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) and Western GP-9 (_ _ _ _ _ _) and matching No. 6-9170 caboose were available in 1975 as part of set No. 6-1584, the “N & W Spirit of (_ _ _ _ _ _ _)” freight.
  9. Sadly, the beautiful No. 6-8568 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) Express F-3 and No. 6-8570 (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) Special Alco FA diesels did not head sets in the 1975 Lionel catalog.
  10. The (_ _ _ - _ _ _ _ _ - _ _ _ - _ _ _ _) also looked magnificent on the No. 6-8665 B & A GP-9 diesel which bore the name (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) O’Brien on it’s flanks.  Both the geep and the matching No. 6-9176 N5c (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) were uncataloged in 1976.
  11. We’ll wrap up our look at the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) cars of the late twentieth (_ _ _ _ _ _ _) by highlighting two more cars, both uncataloged.
  12. The No. 6-9076 (_ _ - _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ _ _) caboose was the only cabin car of the (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) era to use an SP type body rather than an N5c.
  13. Lastly, you had to visit Lionel’s (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ ‘ _) Center to purchase the No. 6-19944 “(_ _ _ _ _ _ _) Tour” (_ _ _ _) car.
