A day without rain finally. It was mildly humid, not bad.
Dennis - glad everything went well on your trip to the gun auction!
Continued work on the window brick mold fabrication and got everything test fitted. Need to go get more caulk to glue it all together.

8N...I hope you feel better after the surgery. You should. I have a model of the Fitz. Try looking up ore dock at Duluth.
Don...Great trip even with the blown hose. Our gas price is $2.55 on a bad day. I have been cleaning wheels for years with Dremel and a Scotch Guard wheel. We see them all the time at train shows. If you screw up, they don't do a lot of damage.
SJ....Don't you love companies that give new customers a better deal than their long time customers?

Boy, it sure is good to be home! Did put some positive feedback for Wild West Chevrolet in Yearington.
Dennis, that is a long laborous trip, wish you a stress free and benefical trip!
On the train front, did some maintenance stuff yesterday and the repair guy (Ted Silva), gave me a tip on cleaning rollers and wheels. I sure most of you have a Dremel tool, but a polishing roller is available that cleans the rollers in 30 secs or less. Also the wheels. Ted gave me information on the wheel and a sample. Talk about inexpensive $1.29 each! They are available at Widget Supply Co. (widgetsupply.com), item number is BET14-425.
Suggest hold the disc at a 45 degree angle and run it across the surface. A little Denatured Alcohol cleans the wheel and lightly holding a soft cloth next to the surface being cleaned really helps as well. Works really well! (Oh yeah, WS is located in Oregon, no sales tax, and shipping is cheap).
Going to do some more of the older stuff, cant believe how much better they run with a good electrical contact!

Hello there.
Yesterday a couple of outdoor projects and prepping equipment to make hay. Looks like we've got a few days to get started.
Son is OK but was told his bruised tailbone will take a while to heal. Riding the tractor for hours will feel good. Not.
We've had a Sleep Number bed for 4 years. It was near the bottom of their price range. I really like it. I'm an 80 Mrs is 40. we do adjust from time to time.
Best get on with the day.

Nice day today capped by an afternoon Tstorm.
Helped neighbor pull carb off his 1974 Nautique so he could take it to the rebuild shop.
Wife and I hit the grocery store and then I worked on some trim for a window I am rebuilding.
Watched the Tstorm while grilling some salmon for dinner.

Sunny day today. Follow up doc appointment #1 for this week this afternoon.
Hade a brain outgassing yesterday - Saw an ad for a great lakes ore boat, then was thinking about having to put the dock in the lake, then made one of those odd connections - A MODEL ORE DOCK!!! The next search on the computer was 'great lakes ore docks'. That led to a neat video about the ore dock at Marquette.
Think about it. A garden railway to deliver ore cars to the dock, load the RC ore boat, sail it to an unloading dock on the other end of the property, load the ore onto a train to go to the 'smelter'.

Tiss cloudy and stuffy this morning but boy we finally had a beautiful weekend. It was the right time for it as we had our D3Rs outdoor meet on Saturday. The video is posted on UTube and OGR. This may not make the cut but CTT if your gonna make special offers state in the E-Mail that it's for new subscriptions only. I went through the whole process only to find out at the end it was for new sub only.

Hello there,
quick check before I crash.
With the help of my grandson another brush pile ready to light.
Son bush hogged one hay field that was over run by weeds and wild grasses that livestock won't eat. Some of them are so called "ornamental" grasses that have become popular. The only thing to do is kill it all and start over. More $$ down the drain.
Yesterday we put manure there. Then a graduation party and capped the day with a drink at a local establishment.
Today was hillclimb. Son didn't do so well. Gonna be sore a few days from a hard landing.
8N......sounds like some good projects.

Was a nice day today. Like da Chief, easy day today. Some distant storms made for a nice afternoon sky viewing. Typ 90's for summer. Sqeeters are starting to appear so evening porch time was cut short.

Quiet day. Doing 10 pounds or less type of jobs, one of which is digging out some ancient RC boat projects to take to the lake house for entertainment this summer. One of these is a live setam launch. The project stalled after hull construction. Still got to assemble the engine and boiler and finish the boat off.
Of course, I'm going to make some modifications to the boiler to improve steam outout and make valving changes to the engine to convert it into a uniflow design which will improve efficency and performance.
Also need to decide which trains to take to the lake as well. Looks like we've freed up enough space for a 6' by 9' layout. Got to decide what to do with it. Will need to be kid friendly, as my grand nephew will be visiting and will want to run it.
Warming fast and humid. Nothing on agenda today.

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 59 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. More trim painting today, along with watching NASCAR this afternoon.
Dad and I travelled to Hancock to pick up nephew yesterday morning. The boy loves trains, and we came back to Fifedom to run the layout. He filmed the action with his tablet, but a 5 year old filmographer's efforts will give you whiplash. Woof.
Evening,
Just a "quickie", got home this evening 7.5 hrs, 440 miles, El Camino ran great no hickups what so ever! Gas gauge kept falling over to the left, only issue. Gas prices ranged from $3.49 to $5.19, extremes were all within a 50 mile stretch in Ca, near Bishop. Lots and lots of beautiful scenery, nice relaxing drive.Till later
8n, All of my visits are to the cath lab in the hospital, it is their standard procedure. I guess an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I' ve had so many you'd think they would just install a zipper to make it so much quicker. There is some risk involved but if not checked and corrective action taken the results could be a hell of a lot worse. Had I payed attention to some of the things going on I might have avoided the heart attack that came close to doing me in. As far as worry, I think that is something that we all experience at one time or another.
Kev - enjoyed your video. You will have to take another when you have added the weight - maybe with another 5 cars added to the length of the train?
My wife and I were discussing yesterday's proceedure over breakfast. She made the observation that I was the only one to walk out of the cath lab while we were there. Everybody else went out on a gurney to be admitted into the hospital for recovery. Also, reading about your experiences has made me realize that by worrying, I'm probably my own worst enemy. Got to let it go and get on with life.

8ntruck Hang in there guy. I went thru a heart cath and the decision was to give me a defibrillator'pacemaker ended up with a set of leads they realized later that were fine but part of a recall, about 8 years they had to replace my defirillator and after that about 3 months later the leads went bad, then some how I endeed up with staph infection on my heart. And had to do open heart surgery to replace a valve because of that. What I'm getting at, is I'm still here and doing fine three years after the last operation. It will get better.

Don - that is a good story.
Spent the day at another cardiac cath lab today. They went in through the arm and checked pressure drop across the blockages. Doc said that the pressure drop was not enough to require installing stints. I'm on a new medication stack and in fly and watch mode now. The heart monitor I've been carrying around since Wednesday is showing that there have been no abnormal events. Going to be reviewing my diet and exercise program as well.
Two more follow up apointments next week. I'm going to be asking if there might have been some other cause for last Friday's event that started all of this and maybe we stumbled onto the blocked artires by luck. After those appointments, then we can get on with our summer plans after a two week delay.
About all for now.
A dry weekend in the 70s. But then there is Monday.:(
