Aloha. Boy, we sure got some storms overnight, didn't we, Kev? Looks like it is supposed to get to 80 from the current 50. I've believe it when I 'feel' it. I was very delayed on my commute home last night because someone spotted a susipicious package near the tracks in a town about mid-way home. So they stopped the trains at the previous town and my bride was nice enough to drive over and pick me up. I brought us some wine-and-pizza at a local eatery in thanksgiving. Fife, I sure wouldn't like to see a bear nearby like that - I have enough problems with the coyotes.

Mornin' boys.  Woke up to clear skies and 46 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Spent most of yesterday up on a ladder, painting the shutters of Fifedom.  My aching feet.  Was enjoying my front porch, when FifeMax chased after the neighbor's Aussie; dog drama.  I'm still mad at my border collie.

Hello there,
Mowed grass after mass til time to go to PT.  That went well.

Won a  hard to find Mantua box car on the bay for cheap. Made a buy it now offer I expected to be rejected but it was accepted.

Seems like warm weather is here,  turned off the farm house furnace, left the town house fire go out and started dehumidifier.

Went and voted in the primary election. Mostly local races. Need to get rid of some tax happy County Commissioners and school board members.

Mrs is on final count down. 9 more days in her final school year. Just left her exit meeting.

Phish....thanks for the input. I wear baggy pants almost exclusively. I'm going with a pocket holster 1st and see how that goes.

Roy.....congas on the assessment success.

Best move on

Hi there,

WOW more rain again last night. Yard is so wet you can't walk across it. Can't cut the grass, can't do anything. No way could you park a car in the grass? This cold weather won't let it dry. Heat is on in the house and shed. Looks like a lot of holiday picnics will be ruined this year. Will it ever dry up? Never seen anything like this so late in the year. Farmers won't get anything in the ground till mid June at this rate. What the heck? Tongue Tied

Still way better than some are getting. Angel

Roy, you are right, they stack the cards against the tax payer. They know most of the working will not take the time to bother with it.

Morning folks!

Rainy on and off here. Maybe some storms today.

Just got back from tax assessment protest. They had raised me nearly $60K. Got them to lower it about $50K. An unfair arbitrary process to say the least. Feel sorry for people caught up in it and not understanding how to approach it.

Phish - meters yes! Can't have too many.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 56 in the Potomac Highlands.  Need to paint some trim and shutters today (Crabby Apple Red).

No bear last night, even though it was trash day.  I don't have a cage, but we don't have a lot of food refuse.  Bear obviously acting on learned behavior.  Several other neighbors in my development also have been visited regularly.  We are keeping bird feeders down for a while.

Banks, easier on the eyes...? Geeked

80 [already] and fair.  Chores interrupted by a lunch meeting that person insisted on late yesterday.

Hello there,

beautiful warm breezy day here.

Woke up to no water again. Low pressure cut off tripped 4th or 5th time last couple of weeks. Happened again while dishwasher running. Time to deal with it.

Had another follow up with eye doc. Still an occasional flash in a dark room. Pics of retina are unchanged. Told to keep my regular appointment in December unless flashing gets worse.

Stopped on the way home and got new switch and pressure guage. The nipple the switch mounts on was nearly full of rust so back to the hardware for 2 brass nipples and a 90. Was thinking of  Roy's debacle as I  crossed my fingers and turned the pump on. No leaks. No markings on the fittings or packages so i'm assuming they are not Chinese.

Eyes are getting heavy.

Good Evening from beautiful clear 60°F Southern Ohio,

Another week of nightshift has started.  It has been beautiful last couple of days.  All the grass is cut a few tomatoes are planted, and worked on the layout some.  I found a voltmeter and installed it in the control panel.  I already had ammeters for the AF and the 3 rail, and when I was using the 30B, it had voltmeters.  Using the 22090 I missed the voltmeters, I’m kind of a geek when it comes to gauges and monitoring equipment parameters.  I rigged the one gauge to read from which ever track I wanted to monitor by way of an on off on toggle switch.

This is the kids last week of school and the other grandparents are taking them to Florida on vacation this coming Friday.  Man will the house be quiet without the kids and their friends hanging out here, but there may be more food in the refrigerator.

Banks - I really like the ankle holster.  I seldom wear shorts, and never go with my shirt untucked.  The one I use straps above and below your calf with Velcro.  If the weapon is a compact or subcompact you don’t even notice it being worn, and with a straight leg pant it does not pattern.  It is very secure yet easily accessed.  If you have circulation issues it may not be a good way to go, but that is the only drawback I can think of.

Roy - Glad you-re doing better.

Fife - Like Chief & Banks said, I would not want the bear to feel too welcome.

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Morning folks!

Attended BIL's retirement party in Houston Sat night. 42 years in the oil drill pipe inspection business. 38 with one company. Lotsa family and friends came in from all over the US and even some friends from Singapore came for the event. He worked all over the world as a sales rep. One of his cousins (also in the business) presented him with a drill bit. Pretty funny watching him trying to carry it in. Said he considered a piece of drill pipe but it wouldn't fit in his truck.

He gave an interesting perspective. If you are in an airplane 30,000 ft up, that is the depth of many wells and imagine the amount of pipe it takes To reach the ground.

Cloudy again. 70's/80's today. Maybe some rain later.

Fife - 300lbs of 'cuddly'?

Regards, Roy

Good morning from the Valley.....

fife... Several years ago we were traveling in your area and encountered a bear along the side of the rode. It was huge. Much bigger than the bears we had seen in Ontario, NY, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico. Do you have a bear box for your trash?

The boat is in the water. Anybody want to go fishing?

We had a great time in Nashville, TN including a visit to the Tennessee Central Museum. They have at least 11 stainless steel passenger cars for their tour train.

Have a great week.

Good morning all,

Long weekend finally ended.   Ballet show was good.   Got qualifying done at IMS.  Everyone seemed surprised Alonso did not make the show, but also forget in 2017 he had Andretti team support.   Since he badmouthed Honda so much in F-1, none of those teams would touch him and the only really good Chevy teams had no interest either.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,
Finished gathering limbs in the yard Friday, another brush pile ready to lite.

Mowed grass  with the walk behind yesterday before heading to the drags. Grandson did surprisingly well in the new classes with a 3rd and 1st. Not the fastest machine but fast enough to make the others nervous and make mistakes. We will be doing some tuning before the next one.

Sons change in work schedule will allow him to get back into dragging. He is working on putting a machine together and rode a friends last night. After 3 years off he's rusty and went out early.

Pretty lazy today. Left the track about midnight. By the time I got home, showered and a few minutes to unwind it was 130 when my head hit the pillow.  7 AM Mass this morning was a struggle.  Lots on the list for today but the slows and watching littlest grandkids ( doing  this while they ride bikes in the driveway) put the kabosh to the list.

Fife.....I'd try to put the runs to the bear. He'll become a real PITA!!

Prayers for those in need

Morning.  Hot and humid.  Run sprinkler in front yard later.

Fifey, a fire cracker will send him running.  Don't let him get to comfortable.  He will become a problem.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 61 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  We had a big, black "visitor" overnight.  Around 0200 heard the unmistakable sound of our bird feeders being knocked out of the tree, turned on the outside floods, and there it was, all 300 lbs of him/her.  Wifey and I watched it mosey around our home for over 30 minutes before it disappeared into the woods (with a Glad bag full of refuse).  Wifey will probably want to go to Deep Creek's trading post to get some "commemorative" knick-knacks.

Since I'm "on holiday", I'm getting to attend some local happenings that I normally would'nt be able to.  Yesterday, it was the Rte 36 community yard sale.  All of the little towns along George's Creek were involved, and from a historian's perspective, it was neat winding my way back into some of these side-streets, into century-old developments.  Didn't see anything rail related, but did scoop up 5 packs of C9 bulbs for a buck.

SPMan - ...here's to NO news. DrinksDrinks

If you want to see UP 4014 and 844, hurry up and turn on Virtual Railfan, and click on their Laramie, WY cam  (youtube).  They are being steamed up at this hour.  You can also watch the 150th celebration (ftom 50 different angles) on youtube.

Good evening all,

A good day.  AJ's team and Pippa all made the race.  The graduation party was nice.  Made it home in time to mow the yard before it got dark and before the rain and the cool weather move in tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all,

Glad you're feeling better Roy.

V8, my son was caught in that Freeway closure after the plane crash at March AFB.  He was on the way home from Temecula where he works.  He lives in Riverside.  Had to take all kinds of secondary roads.

I'm still waiting for results from a Pet Scan that I took last Tuesday.  I'm hoping that no news is good news.

I have been watching some of the videos posted about the Big Boy steam engine.  Lots of stuff on the internet but very little in the media about the ceremony that took place in Ogden, Utah and Promontory Summit on the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental Railroad on May 10th.  The Big Boy is due back in Cheyenne this weekend.

Chief, I'll bet you have some pretty tomatoes.  I feel a tomato sandwich coming on right now.

Ray

Good evening all,

Very quiet day at work.  Weather good.  Scored some nice reading at a book sale and B&N.  Grandson's team played well but lost 2-1 in overtime to number one seeded team.  Tired.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

Warm with 50% chance of thunder bangers today and tonight.

Moving from house to trees again. Got some branches to get out of the yard and then mow. Brush pile needs burnt, the rest is out of the way waiting to be waiting to be cut and split. Probably after the big one close the house is down. Waiting on professionals for that. Still favoring bad wing. PT starting Tuesday.

Phish.....thanks for the input. Is an ankle carry bothersome?

Best move on

Good evening from beautiful 67°F Southern Ohio,

I went home this morning and hung the light fixture, all went smooth, and in bed by 0830.  Got up about 3:30 pm and cut grass around the house, had deer burgers Gabriel made and then off to work.

Fife-Yes, you are blessed indeed

Doug-Pizza, fresh, leftover, hot, cold room temp, it’s all good!

SJ-Flowers out but no veggies, maybe a few tomatoes this weekend

Banks-I like a Fobus for my Ruger GP100, but it is not concealed.  For my conceal carry LCPII, I use an ankle holster.

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Jim
